This switching means sets an inductance such that a first inductor shows an inductance property to both of the VHF low-band and high-band, and shows a capacitance property to the UHF band. This structure allows the matching unit to achieve the matching for both the VHF low-band and high-band by just switching the two circuits of the VHF low-band and high-band, also allows the matching unit to show a capacitance property to the UHF band. Abstract: A high-frequency receiver apparatus receives a plurality of high-frequency signals having different frequencies via an input terminal, then amplifies the high-frequency signals, and then selects from among the high-frequency signals a high-frequency signal having a desired frequency by means of an input tuning circuit. A trap circuit for eliminating unnecessary signals from the plurality of high-frequency signals received is provided between the input terminal and the input tuning circuit. When high-frequency signals spreading over the VHF and UHF bands are fed to the input terminal, those of which the reception is not desired are eliminated by the trap circuit.

Abstract: A switch circuit is provided for at least one of a previous stage of a VHF-band frequency converter and a previous stage of a UHF-band frequency converter. Each switch circuit passes a signal when a frequency converter at a subsequent stage of the switch circuit is operating, and does not pass a signal when the frequency converter at the subsequent stage of the switch circuit is not operating.

Abstract: A tuning circuit, as for a television receiver or video recorder, employs switchable tuning circuits including micro-electronic electro-mechanical switches for selecting the ones of an array of capacitors and/or inductors as is useful in tunable circuits. The array of capacitors and/or inductors and micro-electro-mechanical switches of the switched tuning matrix is formed on an integrated circuit or an electronic circuit substrate along with amplifiers and other electronic elements of the tuning circuit for which the switched tuning matrix is employed. The switchable capacitance and inductance matrices are well suited for use in the resonators employed in the pre-selector filters, post-selector filters and oscillators of electronic tuners, such as those employed in television receivers and video recorders.

Abstract: Disclosed is a RF block of a mobile communication base station in which separated modules therein is implemented into one module, in which an antenna diagnosis function is performed by using a modem (control module) embedded therein, and in which implementation of a filter is simplified. The RF block of a mobile communication base station of the present invention has many advantages in that each of the separated modules therein is implemented into one module so that a degree of utility of a space is improved, and therefore, the number of components and a unit price is reduced, thereby curtailing a cost when configuring a system, in that a variable attenuator can vary an output level of the system so that a variable range thereof is wider than that implemented by a PCB circuit of a up-converter, and in that a control/alarm signal is processed by a modem so that it is easy to monitor the mobile communication base station upon operation thereof.

Abstract: A tuner, for example, for a television receiver, includes a UHF and a VHF section and a mixer oscillator stage. It is known that the VHF frequency band has to be split in at least two parts to handle the VHF signals. To that end, the mixer oscillator stage uses two separate VHF oscillators and a detector to switch tuned parts of the VHF section. In this way, the performance of the tuner is improved.

  • Patent number: 6246866
Abstract: A receiver (100) provides dual band features by providing two signal paths (106, 108) off an antenna (102), one for UHF operation (106) and one for VHF operation (108). The two signals paths (106, 108) feed into a single broadband input (124) of a direct conversion receiver (114). The UHF path (106) utilizes UHF front end circuitry (110) while the VHF path (108) is implemented with a loading/isolator circuit (120) and a matching circuit (122). The loading/isolator circuit (120) loads the antenna (102) and isolates UHF signals while the matching circuit (122) provides a match between the loading isolator circuit (120) and the direct conversion recover (114). Selectable matching circuitry (126, 128) and selectable VCO circuitry (132, 134) configures the direct conversion receiver for the UHF or VHF mode of operation.
