Patent number: 7366520Abstract: The invention relates to a signal processing method which optimizes the bit error rate under pragmatic conditions. The signalling method is optimally matched to the radio channel, variable with time, in rapid sequence by means of linear operations. Uplink and downlink transmission sides are determined by an excess of antennae on the downlink transmission side. The estimations of the channel matrix in the one transmission direction, necessary for the matching of the transmitter, can, in the absence of common-channel distortions with the condition of channel reciprocity, be directly obtained from the estimations for the other transmission direction. By a suitable linear combination of the transmission signals and, optionally, also the received signals, an error-free bi-directional transmission of data streams can be achieved in Rayleigh and Rice channels with significantly lower transmission powers than in purely receiver-side linear signal processing.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2002Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Thomas Haustein, Eduard Jorswieck, Volker Jungnickel, Udo Krueger, Volker Pohl, Clemens v. Patent number: 7239843Abstract: The participants of a friendly communication system use so-called time windows in the interference pattern for the communication and transmission among each other. These time windows are preset ahead of time in the communication system by the jamming transmitter or are created and/or adapted individually and short-term with the aid of software programs. Since only the communication-system participants can recognize and/or detect these time windows, they are the only ones that can receive and/or transmit corresponding information during these time windows. The information is compressed in the known manner, such that it can be transmitted and received completely during the brief time window provided. The information can then be decompressed and read during the time of interference in the known manner.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignee: Rheinmetall W & M GmbHInventor: Markus Jung

Patent number: 7171193Abstract: Embodiments of interruption-sound devices for producing an interruption sound signal in a telecommunications transmission signal comprising a signal generator circuit and a processor circuit, in accordance with the present invention. The interruption sound signals are input into the appropriate location of the telecommunications device such that the interruptee perceives characteristic sounds such as those encountered when a mobile phone is about to drop a call. As a result, the interruptee will place blame for call disconnection on the mobile-phone technology and not on the interruptor. The interruption-sound device is suitable for incorporated into an external interruption module, a landline phone, and a mobile phone.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2004Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: The Hoffman Group LLCInventor: Lawrence Andrew Hoffman

Patent number: 7155179Abstract: A full-duplex transceiver using a method immunizing itself against self-jamming. The transceiver includes a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver includes a frequency immunization converter and a high pass IF filter. The transmitter transmits a TX signal. The receiver receives an RX signal and simultaneously receives a portion of the power of the TX signal as an undesired TX jamming signal. The frequency immunization converter uses the center frequency of the TX signal for downconverting the RX signal to an IF signal and simultaneously downconverting the TX jamming signal to near zero frequency. The high pass IF filter passes the IF signal and blocks the signal at near zero frequency. As a consequence of the downconversion using the TX frequency, a second LO frequency is controlled for avoiding image frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2001Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventor: Bret Rothenberg
