  • Patent number: 7809349
Abstract: The present invention is an RF filter that translates impedances of an IF circuit to create a filter with an RF center frequency having the high Q roll-off characteristics of an IF filter. The RF filter is self-aligned with the frequency of an RF local oscillator. The RF filter has an impedance divider, which is formed by coupling an RF impedance circuit to a translated IF impedance circuit. The translated IF impedance circuit includes an RF passive mixer and an IF impedance circuit. The mixer translates the impedance of the IF impedance circuit by mixing an RF input signal with an RF local oscillator signal, which determines the RF center frequency. Filtered RF signals may be provided by the impedance divider. Filtered IF signals may be provided by the IF impedance circuit. To effectively translate and preserve the IF impedance characteristics, the IF impedance circuit presents a high impedance at harmonics of the RF local oscillator signal.

  • Patent number: 7395028
Abstract: A satellite antenna switching apparatus has LNB ports to which LNBs are connected, receiver ports to which receivers that exchange signals with the LNBs are connected, cascade ports to which another switching apparatus is cascade-connected, and impedance circuits that function as means for detecting the signals exchanged between the LNBs and receivers. The impedance circuits provide impedances according to the connection states of the cascade ports, and are electrically disconnected from the signal paths when another switching apparatus is cascade-connected to the cascade ports. • Patent number: 5784692
Abstract: An impedance-generating device that provides a resistance and a reactance that are non-linear functions of a signal over a wide impedance range (VariablE Non-Linear Impedance Circuit Electronics, "VENICE"). An electronic component that has a gain characteristic with a unity gain frequency that is directly proportional to that signal can be configured to generate such an impedance. Such an electronic component configured to provide a negative effective resistance and a variable non-linear reactance can be used to implement a high frequency harmonic generator. This generator can provide high order harmonics which can be used in high frequency communications systems. The electronic component can also be configured to provide only a voltage-variable non-linear reactance which can be used to implement a reactive mixer to frequency shift a high frequency signal to an intermediate frequency signal, from mixing the high frequency signal with a local oscillator signal.
