Abstract: The clip assembly includes a lateral lock and sometimes an interchangeable clip arm interface. The lateral lock in a receiving passage of the clip body cooperates with a button stem mounted on the cell phone or PED. The lock is sometimes a detent, spring operated ball. The button stem cooperates with releasable locking element. A clip arm on the main body can be attached to a belt or strap of the user. The method includes laterally interlocking the detent with the locking element on the button. An interleaved, complementary tongue and groove mount permits interchangeably mounted clip arms on the main body.

  • Patent number: 7376401
Abstract: A system for selectively changing the operating frequency of an RF receiver includes a receiver having a selection interface, and a frequency matching module removably attached to the barrier operator. After detecting an input on its selection interface, the receiver responsively changes its operating frequency from its current frequency to another frequency, as determined by the input. The frequency matching module then optimizes received signals of the same frequency as the receiver's operating frequency, thereby enhancing the receiver's range of signal detection.

A non-telescoping antenna of the rubber covered spring type material folds neatly into recess when not in use. The controls include waterproof pushbuttons for on/off, volume adjustment, a weather channel, AM/FM selection and tuning. Elastomeric blocks are bonded to the interior of the housing and the blocks have bonded threaded studs, which are used to shock mount the radio circuit board to the inside of the housing. This circuit board is treated with a conformal coating to improve its moisture resistance.

Abstract: A space efficient and cost effective hinge clutch mechanism for facilitating the rotational positioning of a lid member of a portable electronic device relative to the housing the device. The clutch mechanism includes an elongated cam-shaft extending through a plurality of aligned components including a face cam member, a cam follower, and a compression spring and partially through a hollow retaining member. Rotation of the retaining member prevents the cam-shaft from being inadvertently with drawn. The clutch mechanism may be manually or automatically pre-assembled before insertion into the housing. An idler positioned adjacent to the retaining member serves as conduit for wires extending from the rotating lid member and the housing of the portable electronic device. The interaction of the cam and cam follower retains the lid in its fully open or fully closed positions until sufficient rotational force is exerted on the lid to overcome the tangential force of the spring.

Abstract: A hinge assembly (2100) includes a hinge body (2102) made of two hinge body halves (900). Each hinge body half is identical so that only one part need be manufactured, and two of them used to form the hinge body. Each hinge body half has a first leg (902) that is longer than a second leg (904). The first leg has a retaining lip (912) at the end which forms a retaining feature. Each leg of the hinge body defines an axis of rotation for the body elements (104, 106). A portion (1508) of a flexible circuit board (1506) is captured between the hinge body halves so as to electrically interconnect circuitry placed in each body element. A detent mechanism is provided to hold the body element in preselected positions with respect to each other, and includes a spring (2106), a cam (2108) and a cap (2110) having cam follower features (2118). The cam is held in place with respect to the body element housing, while the cap is fixed in position with respect to the hinge body.

The wireless communication device contains a form of a magnet to provide magnetic force and attraction. A magnet can be a natural magnet, electromagnet or other type of material having magnetic properties. The wireless communication device may be detached from the article by altering the magnetic force created by its associated magnet. Altering is accomplished by using an external device or a device internal to the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device is also operable to receive and communicate information regarding the article to which it is attached remotely for identification, informative, and tracking purposes.

Abstract: An electronics instrument 1 includes an instrument body, an operation display unit and a driving mechanism. The driving mechanism moves the operation display unit over the span between a first position where the insertion inlet of the instrument body is covered and a second position where the insertion inlet is opened. The driving mechanism is provided with a helical torsion coil spring 30. At the first position, the helical torsion coil spring 30 urges the operation display unit toward the first position. At the second position, the helical torsion coil spring 30 urges the operation display unit toward the first position. This configuration suppresses the sound generated when the operation display unit of a cover is located at a first position where the one surface of the instrument body is covered and a second position where at least a part of the one surface is opened.
