Abstract: The invention relates to a method for setting an operating parameter in a peripheral IC. In this method, the operating parameter is transmitted from a central IC via a bus connection to the peripheral IC. The method is characterized in that the operating parameter is initially buffered in a preregister in the peripheral IC, and in that the buffered operating parameter is transferred into a working register only if a transfer signal is sent from the central IC via the bus connection. This method has the advantage that, for example in the case of rapidly changing receive conditions in a send/receive unit, adjustment of the send or receive gain setting is very flexible, and it is easy to avoid an incorrect setting due to a detected signal fluctuation. Abstract: A body device has a dual mode function and includes: a play-back mode setting unit for selecting a plurality of play-back modes such as a CD mode, an AM mode, an FM mode and so on; and a control unit for controlling the play-back mode setting unit so as to select an arbitrary one of the play-back modes in response to a predetermined operation on the front side or the rear side. When an operation to select and demand the FM mode on the rear side in a dual mode while the front side is in the AM mode, the control unit inhibits the FM mode selection on the rear side so that the AM mode on the front side may not be changed into the FM mode.

  • Patent number: 6396549
Abstract: A handheld remote controller for a televisor that automatically prefixes a single-digit program channel selection, typically between 2 and 9, with a leading zero in response to a prolonged single digit keybutton actuation exceeding about 3 seconds or by an intended ersatz key entry, such as a star “*” key, either preceding or following the channel digit key entry. A HUSH control provides audio volume reduction intermediate between mute and normal volume levels, obtainable by pressing a HUSH keybutton, or automatically hushed concurrent with a program channel change. Maintaining a televisor's necessitous channel 3 or 4 selection when used in conjunction with a cable box, VCR or other intermediate device is assured by concurrently sending a reiterative channel 3 (or channel 4) tuning command to the televisor whenever a program channel change command or other function signal is dispatched to the cable box, VCR or other television signal tuning apparatus.

At least one of the base unit and the handset includes a page adjusting mechanism to affect an alerting signal output from the alerting mechanism based on a condition. Thus, the paging signal is adaptive to increase the opportunity for a user to determine the location of a misplaced handset. In another embodiment, a cordless telephone is equipped so that the base unit can provide an indication related to a distance between the base unit and the handset. In yet another embodiment, a cordless telephone is equipped so that the paging mechanism is adjusted based on user control. In a further embodiment according to the invention, a method is provided for affecting an alerting signal output by an alerting mechanism of a cordless telephone handset.

Abstract: An environmental sensor distinguishes between a plurality of different ambient acoustic environments and communicates with an audio gain circuit which automatically adjusts the audio characteristics of the speaker and microphone of a wireless communications assembly for more optimum audio performance. The wireless communications assembly preferably includes a hands free adapter coupled to a wireless communications device such as a cellular telephone. The adjustments to the audio characteristics are according to predetermined settings for the identified ambient acoustic environment which are preferably stored in memory associated with the audio gain circuit. In this manner, the audio characteristics are automatically adjusted for the actual ambient acoustic environment that the wireless communications assembly is operating in.
