  • Patent number: 11682394
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a device when a user does not answer a call is provided herein. During operation a wake word for the device is identified as a user's call sign (a combination of identifying letters, letters and numbers, or words assigned to an officer for use in communication (as in the address of a message sent by radio). The call sign does not comprise a sender or receiver's actual name. When a device detects the wake word as an over-the-air transmission, the device will determine if a user answered the call. If not, sensor data will be provided to the caller and a digital assistant will periodically remind the user of the unanswered call.

  • Patent number: 11558730
Abstract: A solution for providing user equipment (UE) location information during an emergency call (e.g., an E911 call) includes: detecting an emergency call originating from the UE; determining a location of the UE; based on at least detecting the emergency call originating from the UE, transmitting the location of the UE across a cellular network to an emergency monitoring node (e.g., a public safety answering points (PSAP) and/or a gateway mobile location center (GMLC)); and based on at least detecting the emergency call originating from the UE, transmitting the location of the UE across a packet data network (e.g., the internet, using a data plan) to the emergency monitoring node. This provides an alternate path for the location information, and some examples use a larger set of location information sources. In some examples, during the emergency call, based on available battery power, the UE location information may be updated.

Abstract: A personal safety service notifies a pre-defined group of emergency contacts about an occurrence of emergency associated with a user. To do so, a personal safety service server comprising a processing device and a memory receives an indication of the emergency and a location of the emergency from a wearable mobile device and sends a notification message via a push notification displayed on user devices of a predefined group of emergency contacts indicating the occurrence of the emergency. The personal safety service server periodically receives updates to the location of the wearable mobile device from the personal safety service client application.

Abstract: An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) resistant telecommunications (telecom) system includes core components mounted within and shielded by a Faraday cage. The components include a data source or storage device. An ethernet switch selectively connects the data source or storage device to a primary satellite router and a post-EMP satellite router. Telecom signals are output from and input to the core components via low noise blocks (LNBs) and block upconverters (BUCs). A method of resisting EMP interference for a telecommunications system includes the steps of enclosing and shielding core components in a Faraday cage and providing output via LNBs and BUCs to an antenna subsystem. The antenna subsystem can include one or more antenna elements with configurations chosen from the group comprising: parabolic dish; array; unidirectional; and omnidirectional.
