Short Range Rf Communication Patents (Class 455/41.2)
  • Patent number: 11368856
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using beacon signals are described. One or more sectorized base stations are used in some embodiments to transmit beacon signals into zones, e.g., each zone being at least partially covered by one or more beacon signals. Use of sectorized base stations allows a single base station, e.g., a Bluetooth or other base station capable of transmitting beacon signals, to cover a number of different zones avoiding the need for multiple different beacon transmitters at different locations to establish different beacon coverage areas. Sectorization of a Bluetooth base station and the ability to remotely or locally configure the base station allows for great flexibility to use beacon signals in stores or other locations without the need for numerous individual battery powered beacon transmitters at floor or display level.

  • Patent number: 11358046
Abstract: A method for dynamically configuring a receiver of an object tracking system includes detecting an environmental or situation change with the tracking system, and transmitting, in response to the detected change, a signal to the receiver to switch from a first analog front end to a second analog front. The analog front ends may have antennas with different gain, or antennas with the same gain but different filters. The environmental change may be detected based on events per second received from the receiver. The situational change may be detected by determining a bounding region encompassing tracking-tag locations and identifying an optimum analog front end from a plurality of analog front ends of the receiver. A signal is then transmitted to the receiver to switch to the optimum analog front end. The optimum analog front end is the one analog front end having the greatest coverage of the bounding area.

  • Patent number: 11354645
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for facilitating customers' mobile devices to conduct proximity-based payments to reduce the friction of conducting payments from one party to another. In some embodiments, a customer's mobile device can detect another mobile device that is in proximity. For example, the detected device may be in the same wireless personal area network as the customer's device. The customer's device can transmit to a payment service system server (PSS) an identifier identifying the other mobile device that it receives from the other mobile device that is in proximity. The customer's device can receive identification information about the user of the other device from the PSS. When the customer confirms sending a payment to the other user, the PSS facilitates a transfer of a payment amount between a financial account of the customer and a financial account of the user of the other device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. A wireless devices may use a shared or unlicensed spectrum configuration based on a prioritization scheme for the shared frequency resources. The prioritization scheme may assign a priority to different operators and may enable devices associated with a prioritized operator to access the shared band over non-prioritized devices. For example, a non-prioritized device may win the channel and begin communicating over the shared or unlicensed spectrum. The non-prioritized device may then periodically cease transmission for a set interval (i.e., a preemption opportunity) and listen for an indication that a prioritized device wishes to use the channel. Abstract: A system for simultaneous control of a subset of nodes in a wireless network includes a network controller and a plurality of nodes that are communicatively coupled to the network controller. The network controller transmits a custom Zigbee unicast message to a node of the subset of nodes that is assigned as a point guard node upon receiving an instruction to control one or more nodes of the subset of nodes. The point guard node receives the custom Zigbee unicast message and generates an InterPAN broadcast message based on a payload of the custom Zigbee unicast message. The point guard node broadcasts the InterPAN broadcast message as a one hop broadcast message to all the nodes in the radio range of the point guard node. The receiving nodes whose identifiers are present in the payload of the InterPAN broadcast message act on the instruction to change a status thereof.
