Abstract: A system and method that extend the protections provided by the existing state-of-the-art to provide location-aware two-factor authentication for authenticating users of computer systems. There are many potential use cases where location-aware two-factor authentication could be of value. For instance, for purposes of access to critical business documentation, such as intellectual property, financial data, sales data for publicly traded companies, and personal medical information are all heavily protected information artifacts in most organizations. Providing controls to insure this information is only accessed in secure, trusted locations could greatly reduce the potential of inappropriate information access.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for power conservation in truly wireless earbuds or other paired wireless devices, by switching a secondary device into a power save mode when the devices are not receiving traffic from the host. In this power-save mode the devices are put into a lower duty cycle than conventional configuration. The primary and secondary devices communicate over a backchannel communication link at a very low duty cycle, in some examples below lower bounds specified for standard communication with other devices. The primary earbud may be responsible for letting the secondary earbud know when to leave power-save mode and resume regular operation.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are presented to locate a wireless communication device. A target device may be out of range of a source device for normal ranging communications according to a first radio access technology (RAT), such as ultra wideband (UWB) communications. A source device may therefore modify communications according to the first RAT, to increase the transmit power, while removing the data payload. The target device may utilize the signal strength and angle of arrival of the modified communications to guide the user to move toward the source device, e.g., until the target device is within range to perform normal ranging communications. A second RAT, such as Bluetooth, may be used to communicate between the two devices while the target device is out of range of the first RAT. For example, the target device may use the second RAT to communicate to the source device to start/stop transmitting modified communications.

The activation command, transmitted to the touch device, causes the touch device to perform an inking operation. When the distance determined indicates a hover, and not touching/contact, a deactivation command is generated. Distance is also determined based on touch instrument orientation.
