Abstract: A voicemail system includes a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to one or more users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system and provided with functionality based upon, for example, preferences of a user. The voicemail system can include functionality to allow a user to archive a voicemail message, to convert a voicemail message to a desired format, and/or to forward a voicemail message or converted voicemail message file to one or more designated destinations. The voicemail system can operate on a communications network, at a communications device, or both. Methods for archiving, converting, and/or forwarding voicemail messages are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate improved management of a system information modification in a wireless communication environment. Various techniques can be utilized as described herein to provide respective users with information indicative of changes to specific blocks or elements within a set of system information, thereby simplifying and accelerating acquisition of new system information after a modification. In a first example, a bitmap is generated and transmitted upon a system information modification that indicates which blocks(s) and/or element(s) of the system information changed in the modification, thereby allowing an associated user to abstain from reading or processing unchanged system information.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for transmitting a message from a portable communication device to a separate terminal including a step of recording at the portable communication device a voice message, and a step of generating, at the portable communication device, a multimedia file including at least the voice message. According to the disclosure, the portable communication device transmits to the separate terminal a signal including the multimedia file and a specific flag for indicating that the voice message is to be displayed as a text message. Upon reception of the signal at the separate terminal, the voice message is extracted and specific flag is detected. Upon detection of the specific flag, speech-to-text conversion is performed at the separate terminal in order to transform the voice message into a text message to be displayed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a computer and telecommunication network which can receive, send and manage information from or to a subscriber of the network, based on the subscriber's configuration. The network is made up of at least one cluster containing voice servers which allow for telephony, speech recognition, text-to-speech and conferencing functions, and is accessible by the subscriber through standard telephone connections or through internet connections. The network also utilizes a database and file server allowing the subscriber to maintain and manage certain contact lists and administrative information. A web server is also connected to the cluster thereby allowing access to all functions through internet connections.

Abstract: A user-interactive music system is described. The system includes a web application in communication with an electronic device such as a mobile device. The web application receives an input from the electronic device, requesting a specific song or preference of songs be played on a music player at a remote location. The web application communicates with a music player, communicating the requests from the electronic device. The music player plays the requested songs or preference of songs on the music player.

Abstract: A wireless hotspot device capable of sharing video picture includes a first control unit connected with a battery and a second control unit. The second control unit is connected with a wireless transmission unit and a high-definition multimedia interface transmission port. The second control unit via the high-definition multimedia interface transmission port is connected with an external terminal apparatus. By means of the wireless hotspot device, the picture of the screen of a mobile device connected with the wireless hotspot device can be synchronously displayed on the screen of the external terminal apparatus. Also, the wireless hotspot device can charge the mobile device or other mobile device at the same time.

Abstract: Systems and methods enable a user of a dual-SIM dual active (DSDA) wireless device to handle multiple simultaneous independent real time calls SIMs to prevent calls from being dropped on a multi-SIM wireless device. In the various embodiments, a DSDA device user on an active call may receive another incoming voice call and select to process the incoming voice call using a voice/text conversation mode.

Abstract: Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing electronic communications on a communication device including receiving an incoming call indication from an originating device. The methods, system and devices may include transmitting a delay indication in response to determining the delayed call acceptance is warranted and receiving a first message segment and subsequently a second message segment from the originating device. Additionally, they may include outputting at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment in response to determining whether to output at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment. Further, they may include transmitting a playback status including a series of status indications reflecting an updated output progress of the first message segment at a recipient device in response to determining the first message segment should be output.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a mobile personal assistant are provided. The method includes receiving a telephone call at a mobile terminal, determining whether a user of the mobile terminal is available to take the call based on a current context of the mobile terminal; and when the user of the mobile terminal is not available to take the call, handling the call by a mobile personal assistant on behalf of the user.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a mobile services access management system maintaining a mobile services access schedule associated with a mobile access device, the mobile services access schedule specifying one or more restricted access time periods during which access by the mobile access device to one or more mobile services requires entry of a predetermined access code, receiving a request to access at least one mobile service within the one or more mobile services during one of the one or more restricted access time periods, receiving entry of a predetermined access code in conjunction with the request, granting the mobile access device access to the at least one mobile service, and providing a notification of the access to a predetermined recipient. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of software-supervised pairing processes are provided. The processes enable a user to pair a mouse and keyboard with a Bluetooth transceiver without having to use a second mouse and keyboard. At least two separate processes are provided, including a long transition for initial pairing or re-pairing and a short transition for re-establishing a connection after devices have already been paired.

Abstract: A handheld electronic device that receives geo-location based signal data into a microprocessor on board the handheld electronic device. The microprocessor processes the signal data into location data representative of the present geographic location of the electronic handheld device. The microprocessor adjusts at least one user defined setting of the handheld electronic device based on whether the location data indicates that the handheld electronic device is within stored geographical boundaries.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a computer and telecommunication network which can receive, send and manage information from or to a subscriber of the network, based on the subscriber's configuration. Abstract: A method for operating a voicemail system can include receiving a call at the voicemail system, wherein the call originates from a calling party device, determining if the calling party device is compatible with a video greeting feature, sending a video greeting to the called party device if it is determined that the calling party device is compatible with the video greeting feature, and recording a voicemail message received in response to the video greeting being played on the called party device. Another method can include sending a video greeting identifier to the called party device, the video greeting identifier being used to identify a video greeting stored on the calling party device. Methods for operating a mobile device and a voicemail system are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, in which a first telephone number is associated with a second telephone number, and a web-based advertisement is served for an advertiser that includes the first telephone number. A call placed to the first telephone number is received, and the call is routed to the second telephone number based on the association of the second telephone number with the first telephone number. A determination as to whether a call-through event in response to receiving the call placed to the first telephone number has occurred, and an advertiser associated with the second telephone number is charged a cost-per-call amount if the call-through event is determined to have occurred.

Abstract: A group of wireless device users are notified of an event. A location data determination algorithm is provided to a wireless device, where the algorithm determines a frequency at which the device interacts with network elements to determine its location. The location data is stored in a notification server and used to identify a user at a specific location. When a governmental or commercial entity wishes to issue a notification, a message is provided to those users whose location is identified as being in an area defined by the entity.

Abstract: The invention is suitable for any kind of distributed networks having different data rates on different connections and a centralized computer system wherein the data to distribute is created. The central system comprises one or more supersets of data that is to be distributed to client computers by extracting subsets of data from the superset/s of data. Thereafter the subsets of data are distributed to selected groups of clients based on information about the network architecture. In this way an efficient way of distributing data is executed and no duplicated data is distributed. Preferably the subsets are distributed to clients based on a counter performance or a data rate of a client's connection to the central computer system.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a processor that can determine a standard inquiry message from an inquiry command captured at a first communication device of a first user. The standard inquiry message can have an importance rating based on an urgency of the inquiry command and based on behavior information associated with the first user. The processor can deliver the standard inquiry message and the importance rating to a communications management agent of a second communication device, where an inquiry indicator accompanies the delivery of the standard inquiry message at the second communication device. Abstract: A Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) message editing method is disclosed, which includes that: the content of an MMS message is edited in an MMS message preview state; the information of an operation on the content of the MMS message in the preview state is converted into an operation of modifying or adding content to an original MMS file of the MMS message corresponding to Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL), and the modification made to the SMIL file is stored. The disclosure also relates to an MMS message editing device. By means of the technical solution of the disclosure, an editing function is added in the preview of an MMS message, so that a user can stretch a media file, shrink the media file or adjust the position of the media file on an interface, or can also add a tag or draw an image on the interface, thus greatly enriching functions of an MMS message slide and improving user experience.

The electronic device includes a storage unit, a receiving module, a determining module, a detecting module, an acquiring module, and a sending module. The determining module collects information to determine a current receiver-environment of the user of the electronic device. The detecting module detects an existing reply matching the current receiver-environment in the environment table. The acquiring module acquires the reply matching the current environment and the sending module sends a message which includes the acquired reply to the sending phone number.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include a system and method for quick note messaging. In one embodiment, a call from a calling party to the communication device is intercepted by a network system. The network system is configured to receive a calling party selection to record a quick note message for a user of the communication device prior to connecting the call. The network system monitors for at least one of a termination of the call by the calling party or a time-out threshold. The network system indicates at the communication device if a quick note message has been received. If the calling party selection to record a quick note message is not received, then the network system is configured to handle call processing normally.

Abstract: Call control of a mobile telephone device and so on used for a plurality of carriers (telephone lines) is provided for acquisition of carrier information and notification thereof to improve serviceability, wherein carrier information of a call destination is stored, carrier information is exchanged during the telephone call, and, when notified carrier information is different from stored carrier information, which is notified or a connection is suppressed. In addition, when a carrier of a call destination is not a specific carrier, after which is notified and carrier information of the call destination is also notified to an outgoing call side, a connection with the call destination is initiated at a request from the outgoing call side.

The data indicates whether the second device is (i) busy and cannot currently communicate with the first device or (ii) not busy and can currently communicate with the first device. Abstract: Data stored about user equipment, such as mobile phones, that is stored in a Home Location Register of at least one wireless, cellular voice network communications system configured, for example, as a 3G network deployment, is augmented with supplemental information and is communicated automatically to active users in the network. The invention is particularly advantageous for mobile systems that are deployable where normal networks have been disrupted, such as among emergency personnel who need to communicate and cooperate as a group at a disaster scene. Supplemental information includes, for example, the identity of a user or device that has entered or exited the network, the function, position, rank, responsibility level, etc., that each user has, and what group the user is affiliated with.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing alerts to end users of networked enabled portable devices are provided so that the end users are made aware when broadcast emergency alerts are issued. In various embodiments, a portable device is enabled to receive information about an emergency alert broadcast of which the user should be aware, e.g., from the EAS, and to notify the user of the emergency alert. The user can be automatically taken to the emergency alert information by having the portable device automatically tune to the emergency broadcast information, the user can optionally retrieve the emergency information by tuning to the emergency broadcast channel, and/or the user can otherwise be presented with a reference to the emergency data, such as a link to the information.

Abstract: Various techniques for routing a request message, which requests a service requiring a data operation on data which is stored in a data backend system, are discussed. The request message is received by a first application front end entity of an application layer. Based on the received request message, a data operation message is sent from the first application front end entity to a first data repository of the data backend system. The first data repository returns routing information to the first application front end entity, which enables the first application front end entity to route the request message to a second application front end entity of the application layer. The second application front end entity communicates with a given data repository which stores the data.

Abstract: A method and system for targeting content (e.g., a service or an advertisement) according to location-based information derived from a mobile wireless transceiver device. Position information as a function of time is used to calculate a rate of travel and a direction of travel. This information can be used to identify a likely mode of transportation. Geographical information can be used to further refine the mode of transportation. Thus, in addition to the position of the wireless transceiver devices, factors such as the rate of travel, the direction of travel and the likely mode of transportation are also considered to more precisely identify the appropriate service. Moreover, a potential destination can be predicted, allowing further refinement of the targeted service.

Abstract: A method for transmission of a useful data object from an exchange component to a mobile station, whereby a communication network is elected, in which the useful data object is to be transmitted and the exchange component transmits the useful data object to the mobile station when it is determined that said the mobile station is hooked into the at least one communication network and it is determined that the exchange component has a delivery request for the useful data object. A server receives a call notification that identifies a call originating from a calling address for connection to a destination address associated with a wireless destination device. The server makes the determination that the wireless destination device is within a predetermined proximity of a media station. Based on the determination, the server communicates a caller identifier to the media station for presentation on a display device communicatively coupled to the media station.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses a method for implementing local access, which includes: after user terminal initiates a local access and a mobile management unit determines that the local connection can be established for the user terminal, the mobile management unit acquires local access gateway information through a Domain Name System (DNS) server. The disclosure further discloses a system for implementing local access, correspondingly. By providing a specific implementation solution of inquiring the local access gateway, the disclosure ensures selection between the core network gateway and the local access gateway according to a respective scenario, thus properly and effectively implementing the local access function implemented by the user terminal through the local access gateway.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure propose systems and methods for managing assignment of short message service (SMS) message identifications (IDs) in a multimode device (e.g., mobile station). The proposed methods ensure that a unique message ID is assigned to each SMS transmitted by the mobile station (MS). Each retransmission of the SMS messages may be assigned a message ID similar to or the same as the previous transmission(s) of the SMS message. As a result, a network messaging center may be able to identify duplicate SMS messages that are marked with unique message IDs even if they are transmitted on different air interfaces and/or by different modems (modulators/demodulators).

Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to communicating advertisements and/or service announcements to devices in a communications system are described. In various embodiments mobile devices are used as mobile advertisement transmission platforms. Advertisements may be downloaded to the wireless communications device along with transmission constraints. Transmission of an advertisement is made when a transmission constraint, e.g., target audience constraint is satisfied. The wireless terminal may change its transmission frequency, coding rate and/or other transmission characteristics to satisfy a transmission constraint and/or optimize revenue. The mobile device reports advertisements transmissions to a network device, e.g., advertisement server and the owner of the device is compensated for the transmissions. Transmission constraints may involve a number of devices to be reached, the type of devices to be reached, and/or other constraints relating to the demographics of device users.

Abstract: A real-time communication architecture establishes a continuous connection between an enterprise network and a communication management system. The connection is continuously held open allowing mobile devices real-time access to enterprise email systems. The real-time communication architecture can support an entire enterprise email system or individual email users. The message may be reformatted in accordance with a TTY protocol. A second message may be provided to a public safety answering point. The second message may comprise the reformatted message and an indication of the original protocol of the reformatted message.

The method includes checking whether a received message includes a plurality of sets of subscriber information when a message is received, checking whether there is registered subscriber information if the message includes subscriber information, and updating the registered subscriber information to different subscriber information included in the message if there is registered subscriber information.

Abstract: When a first user is leaving a voicemail while a second user is attempting to call the first user back, the first user is given the option to ignore the second caller, delete the voicemail and connect with the second user, or hold while the second user reviews the voicemail. The voicemail may or may not be complete. This may avoid the need for the first user to repeat the information contained in the voicemail. In one embodiment, the voicemail message is played on the second user's device as a ring-back tone.

Abstract: A mobile phone messaging system and method for managing display of messages to mobile phone users. A mobile client application operates at user's mobile phone. Mobile content providers manage the display of messages and related interactions throughout a specific period of time (e.g., daily, weekly, bi-weekly). Phone wakeup time data and message identifying data are transmitted from a mobile content provider server to a mobile phone. The wakeup time data and message identifying data are stored in the phone. The wakeup times are also added to a registry at the phone that facilitates launching of applications at the times indicated in the registry. At the specified wakeup times, the mobile client application determines the message identifying data associated with the wakeup time, connects to the mobile content provider server, and provides the message identifying data. The provider responds with a specific message and the mobile client application displays the message.

The message including the identifier is sent to a destination device of the message. The storing of the access point information or the geographic data in the database enables the destination device to obtain the access point information or the geographic data using the identifier included in the message by querying the database.

Abstract: The specification and drawing figures describe and show an apparatus, method, and system for presenting context aware messages. The system includes a mobile wireless communication. The mobile wireless communication instrument is operatively connected to a data processor. The data processor is adapted to receive, store, execute and compose information and data into a global message.
