Abstract: Described is a system and method for processing a voice mail. The method comprises receiving a voice mail, converting the voice mail into a text message using a predefined speech-to-text conversion algorithm and transmitting the text message to a wireless computing device.

Abstract: A method for managing visual voicemail messages includes displaying a list of voicemail messages on a telecommunications handset, receiving user commands for operating on the voicemail messages including a delete message command and in response to a delete message command, marking a voicemail message for deletion with a delete timestamp and moving the voicemail message to a Deleted Messages folder. A Deleted Message Age Indicator function processes to control permanent deletion of voicemail messages in the Deleted Messages folder based on delete timestamps and a global Delete Time value in cooperation with a visual voicemail platform.

Abstract: At least one call paging message is sent to a wireless device to establish a call session with the wireless device, and it is determined whether a response is received from the wireless device to any of the at least one call paging message. When the call session is not established and a voice message is received which is intended for the wireless device, a timer comprising a timer value is initiated, wherein the timer value is based on a number of the at least one call paging message sent to the wireless device and whether a response is received from the wireless device to any of the at least one call paging message. A voice message page is sent to the wireless device when the timer expires, and a channel is established with the wireless device to provide the voice message to the wireless device.

Abstract: A method in one embodiment includes receiving, by a mobile client device, an incoming call sent by a caller, a caller ID being associated with the incoming call. A node connected to a packet-based network is accessed to obtain information about the caller. Information about the caller is then received from the node by the mobile client device. This information is applied to a set of client rules that selects a specific ring tone from a plurality of ring tones stored on the mobile client device. Finally, the specific ring tone is generated on the mobile client device to announce the incoming call.

Abstract: A voicemail system includes a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to one or more users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system and provided with functionality based upon a user's preferences, for example. The voicemail system can include functionality to allow a user to convert a voicemail message to a desired format and forward voicemail message, for example as a file, to one or more designated destinations. Methods for forwarding one or messages are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for accessing offline voicemail messages within a mobile messaging application may be provided. First, a voice mail message may be received and the voicemail message may be transcribed to text. Next, the voicemail message and the text transcription may be stored. The recipient may then be presented with a list of voicemail messages and the voicemail message may be retrieved in response to the recipient. The recipient may read or listen to the voicemail message or both. The recipient may also annotate the voicemail message.

Abstract: A communication device may include logic configured to detect a request to initiate a video call by the user of the communication device; select an avatar for the video call, wherein the avatar corresponds to an image selected by the user to be used as a replacement for a video stream for video calls associated with the user; determine a facial expression associated with the user of the communication device; select an avatar facial expression for the selected avatar, based on the determined facial expression; and incorporate the selected avatar facial expression into a video stream associated with the video call.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for voice communication that includes a power supply assembly, at least one handset configured to transmit voice signals, a voice cable assembly communicably coupled with the power supply assembly and the at least one handset, and a main terminal communicably coupled with the voice cable assembly. The voice cable assembly includes a cable harness configured to receive a predetermined power from the power supply assembly and to receive voice signals from the at least one handset. Also, the voice cable assembly includes a voice cable circuit card assembly communicably coupled with the cable harness to receive the predetermined power and the voice signals from the cable harness. The voice cable circuit card assembly is configured to adapt the voice signals by utilizing the predetermined power in order to match a predefined voice requirement. Further disclosed are a voice cable assembly and a method for voice communication.

Abstract: In one implementation, a computer-implemented method includes identifying, by a computer system, a plurality of voicemail messages that are associated with a particular user and that are from a plurality of voicemail sources; and generating, by the computer system, a plurality of graphical display elements that represent the identified plurality of voicemail messages and that include source identifiers that indicate a voicemail source from the plurality of voicemail sources for each of the plurality of voicemail messages. The method can further include providing the plurality of graphical display elements with the source identifiers for the plurality of voicemail messages in a user interface through which the plurality of voicemail messages from the plurality of voicemail sources are caused to be played based on received user input.

Abstract: Disclosed is a wireless communication system capable of easily reconnecting a mobile information terminal and a base unit when a user returns home and letting the user know missed incoming call information or the like. To this end, when being unable to receive a signal from the base unit, the mobile information terminal enters into a sleep state, and when a predetermined operation is performed, the mobile information terminal searches for the base unit, and when reconnecting to the base unit, the terminal displays information on an item transmitted from the base unit on an operation display section. Thus, even when the user returns home but forgets switching an operation mode, the mobile information terminal searches for the base unit as soon as the predetermined operation is performed, and can obtain necessary information from the base unit at home by a simple operation when the user desires the information.

Abstract: This disclosure details the implementation of methods, systems and computer program products for enhanced call screening (hereinafter, “ECS”). ECS systems implement a live call screening application whereby users may hear voicemail messages in real time as they are being recorded, decide whether or not they wish to talk to the caller leaving the message, and engage the caller in two-way communications by indicating interest in doing so.

Abstract: A device-based network service provisioning model is provided in which a wireless device facilitates a subscriber to provide provisioning information for activating carrier, value-added or other service provider services automatically. The model facilitates subscriber control while balancing service provider needs. Provisioning components may be provided to a device during a provisioning session to maintain service provider branding, look and feel and other control over a subscriber's experience. Provisioning components may be dynamically generated to capture current services, subscriber plans and particular device criteria. In one embodiment, service provider-side components define a service-oriented interface (e.g. Web services) for receiving a subscriber's provisioning information. Device-side components define an interface to request and receive the provisioning components and to provide provisioning information to the service-oriented interface.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described wherein an initiating device sends a communication requesting a voice call session with a recipient device. In response, the initiating device receives a communication indicating that the initiating device can provide a text message instead of establishing the voice call session. In some cases, the communication may refuse the request voice call session, while in other cases the communication may simply indicate that the recipient device supports text messaging as an alternative to voice mail. As a result of the received communication, the initiating device outputs a text input prompt. After receiving text input in response to the prompt, the initiating device sends a text message containing the received text input.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media provide presenting a customized message to an incoming calling party and for allowing the calling party to save or forward the customized message. A called party submits a customized message to an intelligent network component of her telecommunications service provider along with identifiers for specified incoming callers who are to receive the customized message upon calling the called party. After the customized message is prepared, incoming callers who have been associated with the customized message are presented with the customized message before being connected to the called party. If the incoming call is not from a telephone directory number associated with the customized message, the incoming call is processed according to normal call processing methods.

Abstract: The embodiments disclose a method of a data channel telephone network system including enrolling a user subscribing to a data channel telephone network system, installing a data channel telephone network application on user telephone handset, using the data channel telephone network application to record and store user selectable and configurable call processing rules on the network database, routing incoming and outgoing calls via a public switched telephone network to the data channel telephone network system using the user configured call processing rules and displaying choices the user can choose from to process how to handle an incoming call response using user configured call processing rules, user preset responses and data channel telephone network application automated features.

Abstract: Systems for and methods of delivering telephone calls using the combination of a data channel and a voice channel are disclosed. A data channel connection with the telephone handset may provide pre-call information used to set up incoming and outgoing calls which are ultimately connected using a voice channel. Use of the pre-call information may permit the same handset to be associated with multiple secondary telephone numbers from which calls appear to have been made and to which calls appear to have been placed.

Abstract: A method of operating a mobile electronic device includes detecting at least one other mobile electronic device within a predetermined distance of the mobile electronic device, and determining a spatial relationship of the at least one other mobile electronic device relative to the mobile electronic device. An ad hoc wireless connection is established with the at least one other mobile electronic device based on the determined spatial relationship. Data may be transmitted to and/or received from the at least one other mobile electronic device over the ad hoc wireless connection based on the determined spatial relationship. Abstract: A system for transmitting voice messages from a caller location to a receiver location using a plurality of computers each coupled to another through a network such as the Internet. The system also has a plurality of handheld portable recording-delivery devices which are coupled to the network. Each handheld portable recording-delivery device can convert voice input into digital data for transmission through the network. Destination information for the digital data being transmitted is generated using speech recognition of voice input.

Abstract: A telephone station apparatus that is arranged to operate on two, or more, communication lines, receives an instruction to access a voicemail server. The telephone station apparatus switches from a first communication line to a second communication line and initiates a call to the voicemail server. At the voicemail server, calling line identification allows the voicemail server to present an interface to the voicemail box associated with the second communication line.

Abstract: A voicemail system includes a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to one or more users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system and provided with functionality based upon, for example, preferences of a user. The voicemail system can include functionality to allow a user to archive a voicemail message, to convert a voicemail message to a desired format, and/or to forward a voicemail message or converted voicemail message file to one or more designated destinations. The voicemail system can operate on a communications network, at a communications device, or both. Methods for archiving, converting, and/or forwarding voicemail messages are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting voice messages to a discussion group is provided. Users signed-on to a voice message server are identified. Each signed-on user is associated with one or more discussion groups and a personal communication device. The voice message server receives a voice message from one of the signed-on users via the personal communication device associated with that signed-on user and a discussion group to which the voice message is to be sent. The voice message from the signed-on user is provided to the other signed-on users in the discussion group.

Abstract: A system for transmitting voice messages from a caller location to a receiver location using a plurality of computers each coupled to another through a network such as the Internet. The system also has a plurality of handheld portable recording-delivery devices which are coupled to the network. Each handheld portable recording-delivery device can convert voice input into digital data for transmission through the network. Destination information for the digital data being transmitted is based on input from a touch pad on the handheld portable recording-delivery device.

Abstract: A mobility call management service is disclosed that provides enhanced call management functionality for a wireless mobile terminal (MT). Incoming and/or outgoing calls are managed based on an assessment of the degree of motion of the MT, or other available data pertinent to the MT's physical situation, such as but not limited to its location, movement, or rate of movement. The degree of motion or other assessment may be used to determine whether a communication can safely terminate on, originate from, or continue safely on the MT, so as to reduce or remove driver distraction.

Abstract: A transceiver, comprising an interface for receiving at least one message, a display unit provided to assume at least one switched-on operating state and at least one switched-off operating state, a message indicator indicating a receipt of a message by a unit of a signal, independent of the operating state of the display unit, wherein the message is associated with at least one message parameter, and a unit for evaluating the message parameter with the signal provided as a function of evaluation of the message parameter.

Abstract: A method for creating and managing a distribution list can include creating a distribution list at a voicemail system. The distribution list can include at least one recipient and at least one language preference for one or more of the at least one recipients. The method can further include selecting the created distribution list and recording an audio message to be sent to the at least one recipient. Translating the audio message into the at least one language preference for one or more of the at least one recipients thereby creating at least one translated audio message and sending the at least one translated audio message to the at least one recipient.

Abstract: Visual voicemail privacy protection is implemented by requiring a credential from a user or a user device before providing voicemail data to the user. The credential may be a user name and password combination, a digital certificate, or the like. The user may enable or disable this privacy protection feature at will. A first device being used for visual voicemail services may detect a second device within a defined area around the first device and either enable or disable privacy protection features based on whether the second device is determined to be an authorized or unauthorized device. Privacy protection features may be implemented locally or remotely.

Abstract: A system and method for managing voice mail messages associated with a mobile device. The method can include receiving, by a processor of the mobile device, at least one identifier associated with a sending device that initially stored, external to the mobile device, a visual voice mail message associated with the mobile device. The processor can compare the at least one identifier with one or more lists of predetermined identifiers stored on the mobile device. The one or more lists include at least one of a list of approved predetermined identifiers and a list of disapproved predetermined identifiers. Based on the comparison, appropriated actions can occur based on rules stored on the mobile device.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for providing answering service via an answering device comprises associating an answering service for a target telephone number of a user with the answering device; enabling the answering device to receive a call directed from a caller device to the target telephone number; storing an answering message; and configuring the answering device to send back the answering message to the caller device in response to receiving the call when a condition is satisfied. Moreover, in some embodiments, the condition is based on a date of the call or a time of the day of the call, a status of a business associated with the target telephone number, an origin of the call or a type of the caller device, or the condition is satisfied when the call is received at a specific occasion.

The microphone assembly may comprise a non-graphical-display user interface tap detection circuit, through which a user of the microphone assembly controls operation of the microphone assembly. For example, the user may tap the user interface tap detection circuit, and different tap sequences may correspond to different operating modes for the microphone assembly. A mobile virtual network operator is disclosed as an entity that provides a mobile networking service to a user, the mobile networking service being provided using a physical mobile network provided by a third party. Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium comprising instructions for handling insufficient account balance of subscribers in a mobile communications network is disclosed. A request for communication is received from a mobile station. A determination is made as to whether a subscriber of the mobile station has an insufficient account balance. If the subscriber has an insufficient account balance, the request is withheld and the mobile station is notified by a short message.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein generally relate to a method and system of integrating a user's voice mail onto a single voice messaging service, e.g., a Unified Messaging (UM) service, such that a client may access this single source for voice mail retrieval, even where such voice mails are from a variety of sources, e.g., work, mobile phone, etc. A user, or the user's mobile operator, need only agree to accept the service, and the registration and configuration requirements for providing the service and forwarding calls to the service are automatically configured. The user's existing “speed dial” key or other setting for retrieving voice mail may also be automatically configured to the access number(s) for the service. Configurations may monitor the status of the service and update access and/or forwarding numbers. Voice mail forwarding and settings may also be automatically reverted back to the user's original service.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and computer program products for selecting a first telephone number associated with an account for a targeted party and dialing the first telephone number to place an outbound call to the party. Accordingly, in particular embodiments, the first telephone number may be dialed to place a subsequent call after a first predetermined period of time as a result of detecting a busy signal for the initial call. Likewise, in particular embodiments, the first telephone number may be dialed to place a subsequent call after a second predetermined period of time as a result of detecting an automated answering device for the initial call. Furthermore, in particular embodiments, a second telephone number associated with the account for the party may be selected and dialed to place a subsequent call as a result of detecting a no-answer condition for the initial call.

Abstract: Configured called party-controlled voicemail reception preferences are obtained that allow a called party to control voicemail message recording by repeat callers that previously recorded an unheard voicemail message within a voice mailbox of the called party. An unanswered call to the called party by a caller is detected. A determination is made as to whether the voice mailbox of the called party includes an existing unheard previously-recorded voicemail message from the caller and that the caller is a repeat caller that is subject to the called party-controlled voicemail reception preferences. The voicemail message recording within the voice mailbox by the repeat caller is controlled using the configured called party-controlled voicemail reception preferences.

Abstract: A method of initiating a communication from a mobile communication device includes receiving a plurality of spoken letters corresponding to a spelling of at least a portion of a contact name and identifying a contact and associated contact information from a database associated with a mobile communication device in response to the spoken letters. A communication to the contact is initiated from the mobile communication device using the associated contact information. A method of presenting voicemail to a user establishes communication with a mobile communication device. A first voicemail box is checked for messages, the first voicemail box being associated with the mobile communication device. A second voicemail box is checked for messages, the second voicemail box being associated with a second communication device. At least one voicemail message received from at least one of the first and second voicemail boxes is presented to a user via a single interface.

Abstract: When a first user is leaving a voicemail while a second user is attempting to call the first user back, the first user is given the option to ignore the second caller, delete the voicemail and connect with the second user, or hold while the second user reviews the voicemail. The voicemail may or may not be complete. This may avoid the need for the first user to repeat the information contained in the voicemail. In one embodiment, the voicemail message is played on the second user's device as a ring-back tone.

Abstract: Mobile device auto responders that dynamically send customized automated messages that depend on the identity of an incoming call, on the location of the mobile device, on the speed of the mobile device, on the acceleration of the mobile device, and/or on the time of day. The automated message can be customized to include the location, speed, heading and/or acceleration of the mobile device as well as an estimated time of arrival over a predetermined stored route to a predetermined location. The automated message may be audio, video, email, iMessage™, instant message, or SMS message.

Abstract: A method for execution by a network entity to allow a calling party to leave a message for a called party, the calling party using a communication device to call the called party, the network entity being connected to the communication device via a communications network. The method may comprise: consulting at least one source of information in an attempt to obtain message destination information associated with the called party; if the attempt is successful, providing an opportunity for the calling party to leave a message for the called party; receiving a voice message provided by the calling party via the communication device; generating an electronic message representative of the voice message provided by the calling party; and causing transmission of the electronic message based on the message destination information. An apparatus for implementing the method is also provided.

Abstract: In a wireless communication device having a first and a second radio access interface for respectively communicating with a first and a second access network, a method for retrieving content comprises receiving a request for retrieval of content from a remote server and retrieving a first part of the requested content over a first radio access technology connection. When the retrieval of the first part is determined not to meet a required QoS threshold, the second radio access interface is activated. A next part of the requested content to be retrieved is divided into a first portion for retrieval over the first radio access technology connection and a second portion for retrieval over a second radio access technology connection such that retrieval of the first and second portions are estimated to meet the required QoS threshold, and are retrieved over the first and second radio access technology connections, respectively.

Abstract: Methods and products for ensuring that incoming voicemails are stored on a voicemail server are provided. One embodiment of a method includes receiving an incoming voicemail that is to be stored in connection with a user account, determining that a threshold capacity of storage allocation associated with storing the voicemail has been crossed; identifying a mobile device associated with the user account, and moving a given amount of data from the storage location to the mobile device.

Abstract: A method for managing voicemail messages for a visual voicemail system can include establishing a secure data session between a voicemail system and a mobile device. The voicemail system can receive a voicemail message that is directed to a voicemail account associated with a voicemail subscriber. The voicemail system can generate a notification message and can send the notification message to the mobile device that is associated with the voicemail account that received the voicemail message. In response to the notification message, the mobile device can generate and send a first request for voicemail message header information. The voicemail system can send the requested voicemail message header information to the mobile device and, in response, receive a second request for at least one voicemail message. The voicemail message can send at least a portion of the at least one voicemail message to the mobile device.

Abstract: A multimedia messaging service center (MMSC) and method for caching mobile phone newspaper thereof are disclosed. The MMSC comprises a memory module, a mobile phone newspaper message processing module and a network attached shortage (NAS) module. In this method, after receiving a multimedia message, the MMSC decodes the multimedia message and determines whether the multimedia message is a mobile phone newspaper message; if it is, then the MMSC transmits the message body of the multimedia message to the mobile phone newspaper message processing module. The mobile phone newspaper message processing module determines whether the same message body has been saved in the memory module; if it is, then said message body is discarded, otherwise, said message body is saved into the memory module. The processing efficiency of the MMSC and the user experience are improved by the present invention.

Abstract: The invention presently proposed relates to a method and an apparatus for intelligently composing a multimedia message for a mobile radio system. In this method, a digital voice message is received from a digital answering service, a blank multimedia message is generated and the received multimedia message is added, the available amount of data remaining in the multimedia message is calculated, the digital voice message is analyzed, and a suitable multimedia content is selected in dependence on the remaining available amount of data in the multimedia message and the analysis result, and finally the multimedia content thus selected is added to the multimedia message including the received digital voice message.
