Abstract: A network communication device located on a Push To Talk (PTT) communication network and configured to provide time-shifting capabilities to a user of a PTT communication device is disclosed. The network communication device includes a receiver configured to progressively receive time-based media. The network communication device also includes a time-shifting buffer for progressively storing the received time based media as the time-based media is received and a time-shifting buffer controller configured to control the rendering of the time-based media at the PTT device.

Abstract: Described is a system which includes a first radio transceiver operating in accordance with a first communication protocol and a second radio transceiver operating in accordance with a second communication protocol. The first radio transceiver transmits a first signal to the second transceiver, the first signal including data related to operation of the first radio transceiver. The second radio transceiver adjusts operation as a function of the data.

Abstract: Methods and devices to retrieve voice messages are disclosed. An example device includes a network interface to access a voicemail server via a network, a message parser to remove a non-message portion of a voicemail access session from a voicemail access session, and a storage device to store the message portion of the voicemail access session.

Abstract: When a first user is leaving a voicemail while a second user is attempting to call the first user back, the first user is given the option to ignore the second caller, delete the voicemail and connect with the second user, or hold while the second user reviews the voicemail. The voicemail may or may not be complete. This may avoid the need for the first user to repeat the information contained in the voicemail. In one embodiment, the voicemail message is played on the second user's device as a ring-back tone.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are for a predictive messaging service for active voice calls. A method for predictive messaging may include receiving, at a predictive messaging system, incoming audio associated with an active voice call, converting the audio into text, analyzing the text to predict a message that a user participating in the active voice call is expected to send, creating the message, and sending the message to a network element for delivery to a destination.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention allow a user to wirelessly transmit payment information from a mobile device to a point-of-sale terminal by the user performing only a minimum number of inputs, such as a single input. Some embodiments of the invention provide an apparatus comprising an input device configured to receive input from a user, a communication device configured to transmit wireless signals to a transaction device, a memory comprising predetermined payment information stored therein and a processor communicably coupled to the input device, the communication device and the memory and configured to: receive transaction information from the transaction device related to a transaction; receive a first input from the user; determine if the first input matches a user defined action stored in memory, and use the communication device to wirelessly transmit the predetermined payment information and authorize payment if the first input matches the user defined action stored in memory.

Abstract: A first network device is configured to receive a message that identifies a relationship between a wireless user device and a client device. The relationship allows voice mail information, associated with voice mail messages for the wireless user device, to be sent to the client device. The first network device is configured to receive voice mail information associated with a voice mail message for the wireless user device, determine to send the voice mail information to the client device, based on the information identifying the relationship between the wireless user device and the client device; and send the voice mail information to the client device.

Abstract: A mobile communications device includes a computer processor and logic executable by the computer processor. The logic is configured to implement a method. The method includes calculating a decibel level of ambient noise. In response to receiving an incoming call from a calling device, and prior to activating a ringtone on the mobile communications device, the method includes determining that the decibel level exceeds a threshold value, and sending an automated response to the calling device in lieu of connecting the call to the mobile communications device.

Abstract: Voicemail systems can include a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system, forwarded to another voicemail system, provided with functionality based upon a user's preferences, and the like. The voicemail systems can include functionality to allow a user to consolidate voicemail messages and/or calls at one or more designated destinations, for example, a voicemail system and/or a mobile device.

Abstract: A voicemail message system may process voicemail messages sent by mobile communication devices. A network interface may receive the voicemail messages over a network communication system. Each voicemail message may include metadata relating to the voicemail message containing location information indicative of the location of the mobile communication device at approximately the time the message is sent by the mobile communication device. A voicemail message processing system may cause each message which is received by the network interface to be stored in a message storage system, along with its location information. Related mobile communication devices, telephone switches, and recipient phone call devices are also described.

Abstract: A first wireless device is configured to be used with a second wireless device. The configuration is performed after the first wireless device establishes a connection with the second wireless device. The first wireless device identifies services supported by the second wireless device without user intervention, and passes identified services to a plugin system in the first wireless device. The plugin system includes plugins that are associated with the identified services. The plugins present configuration options that are associated with the identified services via a user interface. From the user interface, the first wireless device receives a selection of the configuration options and is configured according to the selection.

Abstract: A method for delivering a stored message to a satellite radio receiver is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request to retrieve the message, receiving the message, encoding the message for satellite transmission, and transmitting the message for delivery to the satellite radio receiver.

Abstract: A method, system and gateway for control of calls unanswered by a roaming user roaming on a roaming network, comprises monitoring outward bound calls to roaming users, monitoring subsequent inward forwarding of those calls terminated without answering at said roaming users, and matching between the outward bound and inward forwarding. Matching confers control of processing of the terminated call in two ways. One is that it allows call details, typically lost over International networks, to be obtained regarding the terminated call. Secondly, it allows the originating call to be connected directly to the voicemail or other forwarding destination without involving any International connections.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a directory service, a call from a user of a mobile phone requesting a number of a communication device associated with a callee. The number is then retrieved from a database by the directory service and then dialed to connect the mobile phone with the communication device. The directory service also sends the number to the mobile phone, the mobile phone being configured to store the number in a storage location. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

Abstract: A message transmission method includes storing message data whose message contents change depending on a value of a parameter in a storage unit, acquiring the value of the parameter based on an operation of a called party when a second terminal device receives a call from a first terminal device, determining the contents of the message based on the acquired parameter value and the message data, and transmitting the message whose contents are determined to the first terminal device.

Abstract: One or more tags are associated with a voice or multimedia message. These tags can be applied to the message based on one or more of an analysis of the message, rules, caller information, presence information, user input and GPS information. Based on the assigned and associated tags, one or more of message handling, classification and one or more actions can be automatically invoked to assist with management of messages. An interface is also provided that allows for the management of the assigned tags as well as the editing and creation of new tags and rules to assist with message management.

Abstract: A wireless device deactivation system is provided that charges the wireless device while securing the same within a lockable support, preventing physical access to the device while blocking notifications to the user when a phone call or incoming message is received. The device comprises a support having a connector that charges the wireless device and communicates therewith to lock the device screen and to deactivate notifications. When a message is received, unique senders will be given a message that the user is otherwise preoccupied and cannot receive the message. Similarly, when a phone call is received, the call is directed to a voice mail system for the sender to leave a message for later retrieval. The system receives power from the vehicle and includes a support base having electrical components to function with common wireless devices, whereby the device does not distract the driving user when attached to the system.

The voice mail system cellular phone network. The voice mail notification typically includes the calling party number and the name of the calling party if available, and an index. This is forwarded through the cellular phone network to the subscriber to indicate that a voice mail message is waiting in a subscriber mailbox. Subscribers can retrieve a specific message from the Voice Mail System.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an offline voicemail recording system are provided. A voicemail server establishes a session with a caller responsive to detecting the unavailability of a callee. Session information is transmitted to the caller and the voicemail server then purposely terminates the session with the caller. The caller can record a voice or video message offline, without an active connection to the voicemail server, and later upload the recorded message. The voicemail server correlates the uploaded message with the previously terminated session and notifies the callee of the receipt of the message.

Abstract: This invention provides a transcription device configured to convert an audio signal representing speech into corresponding text data. The transcription device is located on a calling party's telecommunications device or network, and, on receipt of a transcription request from a receiving party's telecommunications network, is configured to transcribe the audio signal and send the text data to the receiving party's telecommunications network. The transcription may therefore be performed locally (e.g. on a calling party's telecommunications device) before being transmitted to the receiving party's telecommunications network. The quality of the audio sample for transcribing is therefore much greater, and the accuracy of the transcription is therefore increased.

Abstract: A method for creating and managing a distribution list can include creating a distribution list at a voicemail system. The distribution list can include at least one recipient and at least one language preference for one or more of the at least one recipients. The method can further include selecting the created distribution list and recording an audio message to be sent to the at least one recipient. Translating the audio message into the at least one language preference for one or more of the at least one recipients thereby creating at least one translated audio message and sending the at least one translated audio message to the at least one recipient.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are provided that combine a software application framework within a variety of consumer communication devices to provide enhanced functionality. The enhanced functionality devices can then be controlled and integrated into an Internet based application and delivery service, connected by various networking technologies including, e.g., broadband communication systems. Centralized and distributed services allow a user to modify a variety of parameters that will ultimately control how information is delivered. The solution can also be controlled by service providers as a method for integrating their existing application infrastructure and potentially new applications within an overall broadband communication service.

Abstract: A wireless communication network that is in communication with a mobile device, perhaps a cell phone, includes a call message system and a configurable component. The configurable component is configured to include a first mode that puts a call to the mobile device in a hold state for a first time period when the first mode is activated a first time. The configurable component is configured to also include a second mode that puts the call in communication with the call message system when the second mode is activated. The configurable component may activate the second mode when signaled to do so from the call.

Abstract: A mobility call management service is disclosed that provides enhanced call management functionality for a wireless mobile terminal (MT). Incoming and/or outgoing calls are managed based on an assessment of the degree of motion of the MT, or other available data pertinent to the MT's physical situation, such as but not limited to its location, movement, or rate of movement. The degree of motion or other assessment may be used to determine whether a communication can safely terminate on, originate from, or continue safely on the MT, so as to reduce or remove driver distraction.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for mobile stations for enhancing the ease of use of a mobile station. An example method includes connecting with a first wireless network and displaying a first indicator associated with the first network. The example method includes connecting with a second wireless network while connected to the first wireless network and displaying a second indicator associated with the second network. The example method includes selecting one of the first network and the second network to place a voice call and placing the call using the selected network.

Abstract: In system and method of prioritizing a voice mail message, a voice mail message is received comprising caller information and chronological information, a voice mail priority is associated with the first voice mail message based on at least one of a matching criteria, a call history criteria, a chronological criteria, a frequency metric, and a missed call value, and a voice mail list is ordered according to the voice mail priority.

Abstract: A base station determines occupancy of a channel used for message communication and transmits channel occupancy data to access terminals operable to transmit messages via the channel. An access terminal receives characters for sending a text message via the channel and determines whether the channel occupancy exceeds an occupancy threshold. If the channel occupancy exceeds the threshold, the access terminal transmits characters of the text message to the base station via multiple messages. Each of those messages including a number of characters that does not exceed a maximum number of characters associated with the threshold. If the channel occupancy does not exceed the threshold, the access terminal transmits characters of the text message to the base station via a single message so long as the number of characters does not exceed a maximum number of characters for sending a complete text message to the base station via a single message.

Abstract: Communication systems and methods are described that include call notification with rich caller identification. Components of the communication systems are configured to receive a call for a user via an enterprise voice channel. A call request is automatically generated in response to event data of the received call. The call request includes caller data from enterprise databases or directories. The caller data provides identifying information of the caller to the user via the call request. The call request can include response options by which the user can participate in the call. The call request is routed to a target device of the user via a data channel of the host enterprise. The target device provides the user with multiple action or response options via the call request. The response options include for example accepting the call, delaying the call, forwarding the call, ignoring the call, and ignoring the caller.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting voice messages to a discussion group is provided. Users signed-on to a voice message server are identified. Each signed-on user is associated with one or more discussion groups and a personal communication device. The voice message server receives a voice message from one of the signed-on users via the personal communication device associated with that signed-on user and a discussion group to which the voice message is to be sent. The voice message from the signed-on user is provided to the other signed-on users in the discussion group.

Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable medium can include instructions for performing a method. The method can include receiving, at a mobile client, an enterprise call from an enterprise system in response to an incoming call from a calling party to the enterprise system. The method can also include determining, at the mobile client, whether the enterprise call is anchored in the enterprise system. If the enterprise call is determined to be anchored in the enterprise system, a confirmation message can be provided from the mobile client to the enterprise system in response to the enterprise call being answered for voice communication at the mobile client.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to manage voice message system attributes are described. One example method includes presenting at a mobile device a user interface of changeable attributes associated with a plurality of voicemail systems; receiving a change to one or more of the changeable attributes; receiving a designation of the voicemail systems to which the change is to be applied; and sending the change from the mobile device to the designated voicemail systems.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system of using call termination to communicate a message are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system of a telecommunications network includes a mobile station associated with the telecommunications network, a switching module of the telecommunications network to establish a call between a communication device and the mobile station, a call termination module of the mobile station to determine if the mobile station is in a call termination mode and to communicate a communication protocol to the switching module to cause the switching module to terminate the call if the mobile station is in the call termination mode, and a message module of the telecommunications network to communicate a message to the communication device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes detecting an unanswered communication received at a mobile device, identifying an alternate contact based on a location of the mobile device and a relationship between the mobile device user and the alternate contact, and transmitting a request to the alternate contact to notify the user of the mobile device of the communication. An apparatus and logic are also disclosed.

Abstract: A portable communication device may be used so that, in place of speaking into the portable communication device during a telephone call, users may initiate playback of pre-recorded messages to the party with whom the user is communicating. In one implementation, a device may receive, during a telephone call between a first party and a second party, a command from the first party to transmit a pre-recorded message to the second party. The pre-recorded message may be an audible message that was pre-recorded by the first party. The device may transmit the pre-recorded message to the second party in response to the command.

Abstract: The invention relates to the field of instant messaging. More specifically the invention relates to a server centric method and unit for instant voice and video mail messaging. Even more particularly the invention relates to voicemail messaging with mobile terminals. The inventive methods and units under study allow faster voice messaging and enable similar, but not identical audio/video message “ping ball”. The sending of voicemail in accordance with the invention is instantaneous and involves no different telephone numbers for the sender to remember. The reception of messages is always instantaneous, provided the recipient is available, and only if not available, may the delivery of the messages be delayed.

Abstract: A method and system for providing desired media when a Push-To-Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) User Equipment (UE) retrieves media information stored in a PoC box and requests a desired media transmission in a PoC system. In the PoC system, the PoC UE sends, to the PoC box, a request for media information stored in the PoC box to receive media stored in the PoC box. When receiving the media information request, the PoC box sends the stored media information to the PoC UE. The PoC UE selects desired media using the received media information and requests a PoC box media transmission. The PoC box sends the requested media to the PoC UE.

Abstract: A voicemail system includes a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to one or more users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system and provided with functionality based upon, for example, preferences of a user. The voicemail system can include functionality to allow a user to archive a voicemail message, to convert a voicemail message to a desired format, and/or to forward a voicemail message or converted voicemail message file to one or more designated destinations. The voicemail system can operate on a communications network, at a communications device, or both. Methods for archiving, converting, and/or forwarding voicemail messages are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for integrating voice and data operations into a single mobile device capable of simultaneously performing data and voice actions. The mobile device working in a network capable of exchanging both cell phone calls and data items to the mobile device. By wearing an earphone or an ear-bud device the user is capable of dealing with voice conversations while working with data centric information related to the current caller. By providing a data-centric device with voice capabilities there is a new range of features that allow incoming data events to trigger outgoing voice events.

Abstract: Hybrid communications voicemail systems and methods are disclosed. A wireline telephone number may be operatively associated with a wireless telephone voicemail box such that calls placed to the wireline telephone number and subsequently routed to voicemail may be routed to the wireless telephone voicemail box. Thus, the user of both wireline and wireless telephones may check voicemail messages at a single wireless voicemail box. Parents or supervisors may check voicemail messages or converted text messages deposited for children or employees at the single wireless voicemail box. A wireless telephone user may allow calls to be routed to his/her wireless telephone from his/her wireline telephone if he/she cannot be reached at the wireline telephone or as designated by the user.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to send voice messages are disclosed. One example method includes receiving a selection of a service from a plurality of services; determining whether the selected service supports sending a voice message; recording the voice message using a mobile communication device; sending the voice message from the mobile communication device using the selected service if the selected service supports sending the voice message.

Abstract: A call handler and answering machine may be provided in a mobile device having phoning capabilities, and the call handler and answering machine is used to provide additional features related to phoning to the mobile device. Such features include advanced and customized call handling, customized greetings, advanced voice messaging handling, ability to listen in on voice messages and interrupt voice messages as they are being left, talk messaging, and the like.

Abstract: A visual voicemail system can convert visual voicemail message content to an alternate format based on the location of the recipient device, whether and how the recipient device is in motion, a priority of the message content, user preferences, or other criteria. Alternately, a recipient wireless device may also convert content to an alternate format based on the similar criteria. Content may be presented automatically to a user on recipient device based on such criteria. Content may be converted from audio to text, text to audio, or from any format to any other format. Location, motion data, user preferences, etc. may be obtained from a location based service system, a recipient wireless device, or any other source.

Abstract: An apparatus, a method, and a computer program are disclosed. According to one example the apparatus may be configured to receive via the receiver a message from a mobile device to connect with an agent. The apparatus may also be configured to determine and select an available agent via the processor in order for the mobile device to communicate with the available agent, and transmit via the transmitter an agent availability message to the mobile device, wherein the agent availability message requires an acknowledgement from the mobile device prior to connecting the mobile device with the available agent.

Abstract: Data communications sessions for visual voicemail data communications are terminated under the control of a wireless device's visual voicemail client. In one embodiment, a visual voicemail client can be configured to transmit a request or command to terminate a data communications session immediately upon sending an acknowledgement of receiving voicemail data from a voicemail server. In another embodiment, a visual voicemail client can be configured to transmit a request or command to terminate a data communications session following the expiration of a timer set by the visual voicemail client. Alternatively, a visual voicemail client can be configured to wait for a termination request for command from a voicemail server.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for enhancing a phone device such as a cell phone by automatically linking/associating caller identifying information with voicemail notification so that the phone's user (callee) receives notification of which missed call(s) generated a voicemail/SMS notification. The voicemail notification displays a notification identification (NID) associated with the particular caller number that generated the voicemail, and each voicemail displayed via the associated NID on the phone's display when the user selects the voicemail. Also, voicemail notification (icon or check mark) is added to the missed call log and displayed next to the missed call number that generated a voicemail. Additionally, granular user-directed access to voicemail is provided whereby the user of the phone device accesses the voicemail from the missed call (or received call) log and is able to listen to a specific voicemail left by a selected one of the listed missed calls/callee.

Abstract: A device may connect a data session for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a long term evolution network and during the data session receive a voice call request for the WTRU. In addition the device may prioritize the voice call request compared to the data session and direct the voice call to a network device based on the prioritization.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing voicemail services to callers of wireless devices may include providing customized outgoing messages to callers based upon the caller's identification. A subscriber to the voicemail service may select one or more contacts associated with the subscriber to receive a customized outgoing message while the remaining callers receive a general outgoing message. The methods and apparatus may further include distributing voicemail messages from a subscriber's voicemail accounts to one or more social networking sites. The subscriber to the voicemail services may share one or more received voicemail messages via one or more social networking accounts associated with the subscriber.

Abstract: A computer-implemented voice mail method includes obtaining an electronic audio file of a recorded user message directed to a telephone user, automatically generating a transcript of the recorded user message, and identifying locations in the transcript in coordination with timestamps in the recorded user message so that successive portions of the transcript can be highlighted in coordination with playing of the recorded user message. The method also include identifying one or characteristics of the message using meta data relating to the recorded user message, and storing the recorded user message and information about the identified locations of the recorded user message.

Abstract: A method for replying to an incoming communication received by a handheld electronic device comprises detecting: an incoming communication, detecting a selection of one of a number of predetermined responses to the incoming communication and, responsive to detecting a selection, providing the one of said number of predetermined responses. An improved handheld electronic device implementing the method is also provided.
