  • Patent number: 9247010
Abstract: A personal networking/communication device (PND) enables real-time social and business interactions/networking within a real environment. A first PND associated with a first person/user in the real environment is within communication range of a second PND. The first PND receives (via electronic communication) and displays a social interaction information signature (SIS) of the second PND. The signature includes a physical mapping/location of the second PND relative to the first PND and provides some information about the second PND's user. Following a selection of the SIS on the first PND, the first PND electronically transmits one or more “request for interaction or information exchange” (RIIE) to the second PND. When the first PND receives a response to the RIIE from the second PND, the user of the first PND receives real-time unequivocal confirmation of whether the second person is interested in interacting/socializing with the user.

Abstract: An asset tracking system that optimizes the value per ping by tying the ping to movement of the asset. The asset tracking device will send a ping to a remote host (i.e., receiver) when pre-determined condition(s) regarding the movement are met, conditions such as time between movements, the pattern of movement, and number of movements within a time period. In such a manner, the value per ping is optimized, leading to increased battery life and decreased operational cost. To satisfy these conditions and exception events, the asset tracking device is equipped with appropriate sensors, actuators, and trigger mechanism(s). The sensors and actuators detect movements and/or confirm or recognize a sequence of movements. Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a mobile terminal for displaying an event notification. While running an application on a display of the mobile terminal, the terminal receives an event notification. If the event notification is compatible with the application, the terminal generates a user-interactive icon for the event notification on the display. In response to a user selection of the user-interactive icon, the terminal determines whether the event notification corresponds to a public or private event. If the event notification corresponds to a public event, the terminal replaces the application with a display of a list of public events including the public event. If the event notification corresponds to a private event, the terminal prompts a user to enter identity information for accessing private events and replaces the application with a display of a list of private events including the private event after verifying the user-entered identity information.

Abstract: An approach is provided for providing a WiFi network information service. A configuration client processes and/or facilitates a processing, by at least one module of at least one access point, of configuration data stored at the at least one access point to determine network information. The configuration client then causes a transmission of the network information by the at least one module to at least one server. A location client also determines at least one request, from at least one client, for network information associated with at least one access point, at least one location, or a combination thereof. The location client then processes and/or facilitates a processing of the at least one request to cause a generation of at least one query for the network information from at least one server, wherein the network information is determined from at least one module of the at least one access point.

Abstract: A mobile station provides an Interactive Multimedia Response to a user's call. The mobile station detects when a user dials a predetermined telephone number. In response, at least one visual object representing available services is displayed. In response to a user's input, at least one visual object representing a service selected by the user may be displayed. In a Call Intercept Mode, the mobile station detects a telephone number entered by the user to initiate an outgoing call to a destination that provides account-specific data. The mobile station then conducts a data communication with a self service server of the communication service provider to obtain the account-specific data corresponding to the detected telephone number. Upon receiving the account-specific data, at least one visual object including the requested account-specific data is displayed on the mobile device.

Abstract: A system and method using events to traverse a content selection path for the purpose of providing media content selections are provided. In general, events are defined based on one or more stimulus such as, but not limited to, a chronological-based stimulus, a location-based stimulus, a user-based stimulus, a third-party stimulus, or a weather-based stimulus. Each of the events is used to trigger one or more associated content selection paths. A content selection path generally defines a set of media content and a manner of stepping through the defined set of media content. In operation, when an event is detected, the associated content selection path is triggered to step to the next step in the content selection path, thereby identifying the media content selections. Then, according to one embodiment of the present invention, the media content selections are obtained from a remote subscription-based service.
