Abstract: A method and system for conferencing a landline telephone into a cellular telephone call is disclosed. In response to a landline telephone going off-hook, a cellular telephone corresponding to the landline telephone is identified. When a determination is made that the corresponding cellular telephone is currently engaged in a call, the landline telephone is conferenced into the cellular call. If the cellular telephone is subsequently disengaged from the call, the original cellular call has been effectively transferred to the landline telephone. The inventive method and system may be linked to a cellular-landline conference call service. For example, a user may subscribe to such a service so that the user may automatically transfer a call from the user's cellular telephone to the user's home or office landline telephone when that landline telephone is taken off-hook.

Abstract: An MBMS service-based method for transmitting resource scheduling information is provided. The method includes: before transmitting MBMS information, determining information on a repetition period with which a local cell transmits the MBMS information; and determining repetition periods with which respective neighboring cells that carrying the MBMS information transmit the MBMS information; transmitting an identifier of the local cell and an identifier of the neighboring cell, as well as the determined on the repetition periods, to a terminal of the local cell. Thus the terminal can perform chip combining in divided time periods on the MBMS information of corresponding neighboring cells.

Abstract: A system and method are provided which provide a text messaging conference among at least three users who communicate on different first communication channels. A message initiated by a first user is received on one of the first communication channels. The message seeks to initiate a text message conference and includes identities of a plurality of additional users to participate in the messaging conference. Conference participants are identified by a two part identifier, which allows a single participant to participate in multiple ongoing simultaneous conferences.

Abstract: Processing a communication is disclosed. A first request to establish communication is received at a redirection node from a requesting communication participant. A destination communication participant associated with the request is determined. A communication session in which the requesting communication participant, the redirection node, and the destination communication participant are participants is established, including sending to equipment associated with the destination communication participant a second request to establish communication. A communication session processing feature not provided with respect to the communication session by a telecommunication service provider associated with a service provider network used to establish and provide the communication session is made available to at least one of the requesting communication participant and the destination communication participant.

Abstract: The Aircraft Emergency Services Call Management System enables the unique identification of each passenger wireless device in use in an aircraft and the corresponding identification of the passenger associated with the passenger wireless device. This passenger wireless device registration data is stored as database entries in a ground-based Automatic Location Identification (ALI) database which associates each aircraft with its registered passenger wireless devices. The origination of an emergency services call by any registered passenger wireless device results in the call being routed to a serving Public Safety Access Point (PSAP) where the passenger is connected to an emergency services operator. Since the aircraft flight crew and cabin crew are the only personnel on site that can be relied upon to provide some sort of emergency services response, they are included in the emergency services call.

Abstract: Computer readable media are provided for displaying a message notification on a mobile device while the mobile device is presenting media content to a user. An embodiment of the media determines if the mobile device is presenting media content. If the mobile device is presenting media content, an activation message is sent to the mobile device that instructs it to present a message notification in a manner that does not interrupt the media presentation.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an enterprise network is provided that includes a mobility agent 150 associated with a switch/server 100 or 104. The mobility agent creates a visitor application record 172 associated with a second communication device 140b. The visitor application record is associated with a first subscriber. A second subscriber is normally associated with the second communication device, and the first subscriber with a first communication device 136a. In response to creating the visitor application record, the native communication device record is associated with a virtual communication device having the same public and/or private numbers as the second communication device 140b.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating communications between a mobile device and a network application are provided. A mobile device transmits a request for data change information that includes a time out interval. The network application receives the request and measures a time elapsed since the receipt of the data change request. The network application will only transmit a notification to the mobile device client if new data is received or the time out interval has elapsed. As notifications are received, the mobile client device tunes the time out interval based upon network and device parameters.

Abstract: A method of controlling wireless communications is provided. A first call is received at a first distributed mobile architecture (DMA) server from a first mobile communication device. The first DMA server communicates with the first mobile communication device via a first wireless communication protocol. A second call is received at the first DMA server from a second mobile communication device. The first DMA server communicates with the second mobile communication device via a second wireless communication protocol. Voice information associated with the first call is converted to first packet data and voice information associated with the second call to second packet data. The first packet data and the second packet data are routed via a private Internet Protocol (IP) network to at least one second DMA device, where the first call is accessible to a first destination device and the second call is accessible to a second destination device via the at least one second DMA device.

Abstract: In the invention, an audiovisual call identifier including image and sound is formed for a mobile communication device. The call identifier is repeated on the display and in the loudspeaker of the communication device when a call comes in, i.e. it functions in the same way as an ordinary ring tone when it is used. The first step in the method is to take a shot including moving image and sound by a video camera. The shot taken is saved in the memory of the communication device as a video clip and set as a call identifier of the communication device. The video clip can be taken either by a video camera belonging to the communication device or by a separate device. The call identifier can be set as a general notification sign or it can be associated with a certain phone number or numbers in the phone memo of the communication device, in which case the video clip is repeated on the display and in the loud-speaker of the communication device when a call comes from the phone number(s) in question.

Abstract: A method for supporting a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communication in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes identifying whether a Mobile Station (MS) is in a wireless communication active state, a P2P active state, or a P2P previous active state, and transiting to the P2P active state if a P2P connection request occurs in the P2P previous active state and transiting to the P2P previous active state if a P2P communication termination occurs in the P2P active state.

Abstract: A wireless communication system is disclosed herein. The wireless communication system may include transmitter units and a receiver. In one embodiment, each transmitter has an address and logic programmed to perform the steps of receiving a user selection and, responsive to the receiving, repeatedly transmitting a wireless selection signal until a wireless acknowledgment signal is received. The wireless selection signal may include the address and the user selection. The receiver may include means to receive a wireless selection signal and logic programmed to transmit a wireless acknowledgment signal in response to the receipt of each wireless selection signal.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a user functionality in a mobile communications device is disclosed. In an embodiment of the system, a communications infrastructure provides interoperability between a first communications network utilizing a first technology and a second communications network utilizing a second technology. The infrastructure provides an indicator to a mobile communications device in communication with the first communications network to either activate the user functionality or deactivate the user functionality. In accordance with an embodiment of a method of the present invention, the method includes providing the indicator to the mobile communications device in communication with the first communications network utilizing the first technology by the communications infrastructure. The user functionality is activated if the indicator is provided in a first state and the user functionality deactivated if the indicator is provided in a second state.

Abstract: A client application that provides advanced voice services (AVS), such as Push-to-Talk (P2T), Push-to-Conference (P2C), Upgrade to Conference (upgrade from P2T to P2C), Push-to-Message (P2M) and group SMS (Short Message Service), on wireless handsets and networks using a Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW™), which is an open architecture that serves as a common platform for wireless applications. The functionality provided by the BREW™ AVS client application includes menu displays for the handset, as well as user interaction with the menu displays. Specifically, the functionality includes One-to-One Conference Calls, One-to-Many Conference Calls, Dynamic Conference Calls, One-to-One Messaging, or One-to-Many Messaging.

Abstract: The method of present invention is used for addressing a broadcast message in a trunking system, in which said trunking communication system includes a base station and mobile stations. This method includes the following steps: adding a new index of trunking broadcast time slots, with all the mobile stations that support boundless capacity group call service monitoring these trunking broadcast time slots; the base station transmitting the paging message of the boundless capacity group call in the trunking broadcast time slot; and using the group identification as the broadcast address, allowing addressing to the group identification and not a single mobile station. The method of present invention efficiently solves the problem of paging channel capacity limitations of the boundless capacity group call service supported by CDMA trunking telecommunication systems, and greatly shortens the time of group call connection.

Abstract: A menu-driven electronic device utilizes a display and a single two-dimensional navigation key. The display is configured to selectively display one of a plurality of menus, including a main menu and a sub-menu. The two-dimensional navigation key is configured to select one of a plurality of main menu items and to select a sub-menu item of the sub-menu associated with a selected main menu item. A portion of the plurality of menu main items is displayed. The main menu and the sub-menu can be accessed by maintaining contact with the two-dimensional navigation key. The device is configured to display a main menu item icon to provide a visual reference to the selected main menu item in a menu tree of the menu being displayed. The device is preferably a cellular phone.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to buffering database server response data. In aspects, a database driver receives a request for data from a requester such as an application. Based on the request and information associated with a query, the database driver determines whether the requester is allowed to obtain data that has been previously buffered. If the database driver determines that the requester is not allowed to obtain data that has been previously buffered, the database driver indicates that blocks corresponding to the data may be freed. The database driver obtains new blocks from the database when they are needed. The database driver may determine whether to free blocks depending on a mode in which the blocks are accessed. When blocks are requested in a stream mode, they may be discarded once provided to a requester unless a bookmark has been set.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating transferring of a conference call. In some embodiments, users of a secure mobile device may be provided with the ability to transfer a media session for use in a conference call to a non-secure communication device. The method may include displaying a user interface on the primary communication device, the user interface including a transfer option, receiving a command selecting the transfer option, sending a transfer request from the primary communication device to the conference call controller to link an alternate communication device within the conference call session, and determining whether the transfer request requires authentication, and if so performing authentication of the transfer request.

Abstract: An example aspect includes a mobile device that can perform a method where a conference call schedule is kept in a calendaring application, which is made to reference a temporary entry in a contact manager, which tracks access information, such as a dial-in number, an authentication code, and descriptive information for the call, such as a name for the call. The access information from the temporary contact entry is used to establish the call, and the descriptive information from the contact entry is outputted, such as through a display. An entry in a log can be created for the call using the descriptive information from the temporary contact entry. The temporary contact entry can be maintained if the conference call is to be repeated, or else it can be deleted. Such devices and methods provide an enhanced user experience for conference calls, by providing logging and display of more descriptive information about the calls.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for dynamically generating one or more group lists as a sub-group of the contact list by assigning tags to contacts in a contact list. A user may define one or more tags for contacts in the contact list to generate a tag list in addition to the contact list. The tags indicate additional attributes of the contact that cannot be included in the contact list. To dynamically generate the group list, the user enters list criteria, and the tag list is searched to identify which of the contacts in the contact list has tags that match the list criteria. The contacts having tags that match the list criteria are combined into a group list which the user may then access to initiate communication with those contacts, or store for later use.

Abstract: A system to facilitate phone conferencing between a plurality of phone users over a communications network, program product, and methods are provided. Phone conferencing over a communications network is facilitated by a system that forms a server network that enables users to participate in a conference call. A conference management program product is stored in a memory of the server including instructions which allow users of the system to establish conferencing groups and set participation preferences of the members. The system can utilize the preferences to initiate and conduct the conference call.

Abstract: A mobile communication device operating in a wireless local area network (WLAN) of a communication network maintains an inter-enterprise voice call via its WLAN interface (e.g. 802.11/VoIP/SIP) with another communication device in the communication network. During the voice call, a handover of the voice call from the WLAN to a wireless wide area network (WWAN) (e.g. GSM/GPRS) is identified. In response to identifying a handover indication, the mobile device causes a request message (e.g. a SIP INVITE message) to be sent over the WWAN to the conferencing gateway for establishing a first connection leg through the WWAN via its WWAN interface with a conference room of the conferencing gateway. The mobile device also causes a re-routing message (e.g. a SIP REFER message) to be sent to the communication device, so that a second connection leg between the communication device and the conference room may be established.

Abstract: A method is disclosed to determine the presence of one or more cellular phones in the same sound field as an endpoint that is dedicated for teleconferencing, such as a speakerphone. The teleconference bridge of the illustrative embodiment continually receives geo-location information about the cell phone. Based on the geo-location of the cell phone relative to the position of the speakerphone, the bridge determines whether to include or exclude signals that are received from the cell phone when preparing a signal for transmission to the speakerphone during a conference call. The bridge also determines whether to refrain from transmitting an audio signal to the cell phone, when the bridge infers that the cell phone is being used as a satellite microphone, such as when the cell phone is placed on a conference room table. As a result, each conference call participant is able to use his or her own cell phone as a personal satellite microphone, which can improve the sound quality of the conference call.

A first server receives the registration server role and responsively registers push-to-talk users and maintains a first time of day. Abstract: A client for a text-based messaging application for a dual-mode mobile communication device may initiate an audio conference based on a text-based message. Contents of fields of the text-based message may be extracted and utilized to construct an audio conference request message that is subsequently transmitted to an audio conference gateway. Where the text-based messaging application is an instant messaging (IM) client application, it may be configured to recognize a voice connection as being related to an ongoing Data Mode IM conversation. As a consequence of the recognition, the IM client application may maintain the user interface for facilitating participation in the Voice Mode IM conversation. Updates related to the status of the Voice Mode IM conversation may be received at the dual-mode mobile communication device over the voice connection and reflected in changes to the user interface.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal having a function of displaying a communication state and a method thereof are disclosed. The method of displaying a communication state in a case of a multiparty call using a mobile communication terminal having a plurality of display units includes displaying information on one calling party on a first display unit, and displaying information on the other calling party on a second display unit. Here, information on one calling party and information on another calling party can be switched with each other and displayed on the different display units, and therefore voice communication is possible between one or more of the parties at the same time.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include methods and apparatuses for adjusting audio content when more multiple audio objects are directed toward a single audio output device. The amplitude, white noise content, and frequencies can be adjusted to enhance overall sound quality or make content of certain audio objects more intelligible. Audio objects are classified by a class category, by which they are can be assigned class specific processing. Audio objects classes can also have a rank. The rank of an audio objects class is used to give priority to or apply specific processing to audio objects sin the presence of other audio objects of different classes.

Abstract: A method for managing appointments utilizes an appointment management system installed in a communication server between communication devices. The appointment management system receives a request list from one of the communication devices used by an originator. The request list is then saved in a database. The appointment management system invites the invitees to enter a video conference and prompts the invitees to input a departure location and date of an appointment. After the appointment management system receives a final venue and date determined by the originator. The appointment management system sends the final venue and date to all the invitees.

Abstract: A plurality of embodiments is presented in relation to conferencing solutions. Consistent with an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method is implemented by a computer processing arrangement. The method provides conferencing services between participants. A web-accessible virtual meeting interface is provided. Meeting scheduling data is received from the virtual meeting interface. The meeting scheduling data includes participant identifying information and meeting time information. At least one telephone call is initiated. The telephone call is responsive to the meeting time information and the participant identifying information and for the at least one participant identified by the identifying information. In response to the at least one participant answering the telephone call, audio from the telephone call is merged with audio from other participants. The merged audio is provided to the at least one participant and the other participants.

An adapter of the apparatus configured to connect to a wireless telephone includes circuitry for communicating with at least two external speakers and at least one external microphone. The communications between the adapter and the external speakers and microphone may be wired or wireless. If wired, the external speakers and microphone may be part of respective earbud devices or headsets that connect to the adapter. Each earbud device includes an acoustic transducer that functions as an audio speaker and may include a microphone that converts the users' voices into electric audio signals. Abstract: A method for authenticating a Short Message (SM) calling party, including: if a Signal Relay Function for support of Mobile Number Portability (MNP-SRF) module detects a calling party number carried in an SM belongs to its serving network after receiving a Mobile Originated (MO) SM, the MNP_SRF module adds an identifier of the MNP_SRF module's network to the calling party number. A Short Message Serving Center (SMSC) determines whether the SM passes calling party authentication according to the fact that whether the calling party number carries an identifier of the SMSC's network. The invention provides a system for authenticating an SM calling party, including: a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), a calling MNP_SRF module, a Number Portability Database (NPDB) and a Short Message Serving Center (SMSC). The invention may avoid a mobile number having subscribed to a new network from using resources of the SMSC of a network to which the subscription has been canceled.

Abstract: A method of moving telephone communication from a first device engaged in a call, to a second device. The method includes initiating a determination of status of the first device from the second device, joining the second device to the call to form a conference in response to an active call status indication, and removing the first device from the conference, leaving the second device engaged in the call.

Abstract: Techniques for implementing a push-to-talk feature in a mobile telecommunications environment (100) involve receiving an indication to activate a push-to-talk service for a first mobile device (130(2)) and identifying a group of mobile devices (130) associated with the push to-talk service for the first mobile device in response to the indication. The indication is received in an unstructured supplementary service data message.
