  • Patent number: 10721349
Abstract: A phone and system is disclosed which includes a programmed button(s) that initiates a telephone call from the phone to a second phone. In some embodiments, the phone may be a toy or instructional equipment configured to provide for example, children a device to learn how to converse over a telephone call with trusted parties. The phone may initiate a phone call request when a programmed button is pressed by connecting with a computing device that has a wireless local area network (LAN) transceiver and a connection to the telephone network (for example, a smartphone, a tablet, or a wearable device). The phone call request may then be re-routed through the telephone network to the second phone being called and communication may occur between the two phones through the intermediary device. Trusted and restricted communication may thus occur between parents/grandparents and children.

  • Patent number: 10708122
Abstract: A Quality of Service (QoS) improvement system and method for transport network fault detection and QoS improvement so that a telecommunication network service provider can analyze the root cause on chronic performance issues and recommend potential solutions is disclosed. The system runs performance analysis on each AAV (mobile backhaul) or other transport networks and collects performance related metrics data. The system then selects a subset of the data related to certain key performance indicators (KPIs), such as latency, jitter, packet loss ratio, and availability. On this subset of KPI-related data, the system applies clustering techniques to identify clusters with similar performance issues. For each cluster, the system binds the AAV performance KPI data with one or more of the following site features—health, location, vendor, market, service type, etc.—to create a cluster map. The system can then generate inferences on root causes of the performance issues.

Abstract: An improved AFDX switch, as described herein, can include an embedded integrity monitoring module that is functionally fault-independent of the switching module or other components of the AFDX switch. The integrity monitoring module can include a delay monitoring module for monitoring delays of data packets within the AFDX switch and/or a routing module for monitoring or detecting data packets routing errors or failures. The delay monitoring module can assign a timestamp to a data frame at arrival to the AFDX switch, determine a time delay of the data frame within the AFDX switch based on the timestamp, and compare the time delay to a threshold value to detect erroneous time delays. The routing monitoring module can compare the input port and/or the output port at which the data frame arrives while in the AFDX switch to the corresponding preassigned input port or output port to detect routing failures.

  • Patent number: 10542477
Abstract: The present invention provides an EHSN communication protocol that uses a beaconing scheme to facilitate communication between multiple low power sensor nodes. In the illustrative embodiment, the desired sensor data flows through a series of sensor nodes from the origin sensor to a destination node through a set of intermediate relay nodes. Transmissions from one node to another occur using a receiver-initiated beaconing scheme, in which beacons are sent by each node when they have harvested sufficient energy to relay data. The specific set of relay nodes is chosen opportunistically from the total set of nodes in the network, based on which nodes have harvested sufficient energy (and broadcasted the appropriate beacon), and which nodes are optimally positioned to forward data to the destination node.

Abstract: An apparatus and method in a wireless communication system. The apparatus includes circuitry configured to: generate configuration information about a user equipment including retransmission time related information and used for performing device-to-device communication, wherein the re-transmission time related information represents information related to retransmission times of signal transmission with a user equipment performing device-to-device communication; and to transmit the generated configuration information to the user equipment performing device-to-device communication. A signal in device-to-device communication can be ensured to be accurately and completely transmitted between various communication devices participating in the communication, and thus the transmission performance of information is improved.

  • Patent number: 10531335
Abstract: A method for assisting in cell combination management in a cellular communication system is presented. The method comprises obtaining of network statistics, comprising statistics associated with pairs of cells as well as cell loads. At least one candidate cell combinations selected. The candidate cell combination is a combination of cells for which a mobility measure deduced from the mobility statistics for pairs of cells participating in the combination of cells exceeds a first predetermined threshold. A total load capacity is determined for each of the candidate cell combinations. A cell combination procedure is recommended for a first cell combination. A cell combination, for which a load margin exceeds zero, is allowed to be chosen as the first cell combination. The load margin is a difference between the determined total load capacity and a sum of the cell loads. A network node performing such method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10506531
Abstract: The power level at which signals are transmitted from an external communication interface to an implanted communication interface through a communications link is periodically adjusted. A range of power levels bounded by a minimum transmit power level and a maximum transmit power level is determined. A preferred transmit power level is selected from within the range of power levels, and is used by the external communication interface to transmit signals to the implanted communication interface. Each of the minimum transmit power level and the maximum transmit power level is determined by intentionally causing a reception error to occur at the implanted communication interface, and then making further power level adjustments until a final minimum transmit power level and final maximum transmit power level are obtained.

  • Patent number: 10498442
Abstract: Systems and methods for improved content streaming and downloading. The system enables content to be transmitted to wireless base stations (WBSs) using unicast on the core network side of a cellular network to avoid incompatibilities associated with network broadcast technologies such as Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) and Long-Term Evolution Broadcast (LTE-B). At the same time, the system enable content to be broadcast, or transmitted to multiple user equipment (UE) in a single transmission to reduce wireless bandwidth consumption. The system can include a commodity server to receive requests from WBSs, place them in a chronological list based on network latency, and then transmit content to each WBS in a synchronized unicast manner. Each WBS can then transmit the content to a plurality of UEs with minimal buffer required due to the “pre-synchronization.

  • Patent number: 10498902
Abstract: A method and a call routing system (CRS) are provided for routing an incoming call made to one of multiple numbers of a user to a call receiving client application (CRCA) deployed on one or more user devices when the called number is not reachable. The CRS, in communication with the CRCA deployed on one or more user devices, sets up a user account using one or more of the user's multiple numbers. The CRS detects availability of the CRCA on one or more user devices over a data network to accept an incoming call. The CRS receives the incoming call made to one of the numbers, when the called number is not reachable. The CRS routes the incoming call to the CRCA on one or more user devices over the data network on detecting the availability of the CRCA on one or more user devices over the data network.

  • Patent number: 10484143
Abstract: The disclosure provides a method and a device for reducing latency in radio communications. A User Equipment (UE) first receives K radio signal groups and then transmits an uplink signaling, K being a positive integer greater than 1 and the uplink signaling including HARQ-ACK information, wherein lengths of Enhanced Transmission Time Intervals (eTTIs) corresponding to the K radio signal groups correspond to K time lengths respectively, and any two time lengths of the K time lengths are not equal. The HARQ-ACK information indicates whether a coding block in the K radio signal groups is correctly decoded. The numbers of radio signals in the K radio signal groups are Q1, . . . , QK respectively, the Q1, . . . , QK being positive integers respectively. The disclosure avoids the occurrence that the UE transmits multiple uplink signalings simultaneously, and improves the robustness of HARQ-ACK under power limited conditions. In addition, the disclosure reduces radio overhead and increases transmission efficiency.
