  • Patent number: 10305847
Abstract: A social networking system identifies an event based on a thread including messages from users of the social networking system and communicates invitations to the event to one or more invited users. The social networking system receives a response to an invitation from a responding user and identifies a group of users invited to the event that have not responded to the invitation. From the users invited to the event that have not responded to the invitation, a subset of users having a threshold affinity to the responding user are selected. The social networking system notifies the subset of users of the responding user's response to the invitation and may also provide the subset of users with a suggestion for attending the event.

  • Patent number: 10299077
Abstract: A server including data loading, data analysis, transformation and cleaning (TAC), and position estimation modules. The data loading module loads original position data (OPD) sets. OPD points of the OPD sets refer to positions of a wireless device in communication with a wireless station. The data loading module loads each OPD set based on an identifier of the wireless station in a corresponding one of the OPD sets. The data analysis module: determines an overall bounding area based on the OPD points; divides the overall bounding area into minimum bounding areas; and assigns the OPD points to the minimum bounding areas. The TAC module: transforms and cleans some of the OPD points to provide updated points, such that the updated points have a less number of points than the some of the OPD points. The position estimation module estimates a position of the wireless device based on the updated points.

Abstract: Techniques of category-based fence are described. A category-based fence can correspond to a group of signal sources instead of a point location fixed to latitude and longitude coordinates. The group of signal sources can represent a category of entities, e.g., a particular business chain. The signal sources can be distributed to multiple discrete locations. A category-based fence associated with the group, accordingly, can correspond to multiple locations instead of a single point location and a radius. Each signal source in the group can be associated with a category identifier unique to the group and uniform among signal sources in the group. The category identifier can be programmed into each signal source. A mobile device can enter the category-based fence by entering any of the discrete locations when the mobile device detects the signal identifier. Abstract: A method for identifying a suggested application on a mobile device is disclosed. The method includes detecting an event, determining a first location of the mobile device, identifying that the first location is within a first location region of a plurality of predetermined location regions, and then measuring one or more sensor values at one or more times. The measured sensor values may then be used to create a first-data point. In response to identifying the first location region, a plurality of clusters of data points may be retrieved. A first cluster of the plurality of clusters corresponding to the first data point may then be identified. The method may further include identifying a set of one or more applications, and then providing a message to the user based on the identified set of one or more applications.

Abstract: Privacy centric feature analysis. A secure set of multiple mapped features is selected and provided to a mobile device. Each mapped feature maps a sharable feature to a matching criterion for an item of protected information and no combination of mapped features for a secure set are unique to an individual item of protected information. Privacy compliance instructions enable the mobile device to select a mapped feature from a received set of mapped features by identifying an item of protected information available to the mobile device which corresponds to a matching criterion found in the received set of mapped features. The sharable feature of the selected mapped feature is identified and sent to a privacy compliant destination. Advantageously, the analysis system protects the privacy of the mobile device user because it does not require the mobile device to relay protected information for the selection of customized content or relevant advertisements.

Abstract: Methods and devices for detecting a change in a motion state of a user of a mobile device are provided. The method includes determining, based on one or more sensors of the mobile device, that the motion state of the user is a driving state, the driving state indicating that the user is inside a vehicle that is moving, monitoring, with the mobile device, the one or more sensors, determining that a new motion state is a non-driving state. The method further includes identifying a location where the user exited the vehicle using one or more of the measurements from the one or more sensors before the determining that the new motion state is the non-driving state, and identifying the location where the user exited the vehicle as corresponding to a parked location of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10158547
Abstract: In a procedure for determining distance (or angle) between a pair of electronic devices wirelessly connected to one another, a current session may be temporarily suspended on request and thereafter the current session may be resumed. Temporary suspension and resumption of the current session may, for example, eliminate starting a new session between the pair of electronic devices and repeating a determination of parameters that were initially agreed upon in the current session. Temporary suspension of a current session may be signaled wirelessly, by one electronic device to the other electronic device, for example, by setting a specific value in a specific field, to signal that the current session is to be paused now, in a frame or message transmitted from the pausing device to the to-be-paused device. The current session may be resumed without repeating determination of the initially-agreed upon parameters, by transmitting a frame to initiate measurement exchange.
