  • Patent number: 6745055
Abstract: A digital cordless telephone combines speakerphone control information together with voice data information in each of a plurality of data packets transmitted between the remote handset and the base unit while the remote handset is operating in a speakerphone mode. To allow half-duplex speakerphone functionality in the digital remote handset, the speakerphone control information includes break-in information relating to a break in by the user of the remote handset into an ongoing conversation. To allow full-duplex, echo cancellation mode operation of the speakerphone functionality at the digital remote handset, the speakerphone control information includes coordinating information relating to an amount of echo cancellation performed by the base unit and by the remote handset. In the disclosed embodiment, the speakerphone control information further includes switching and signal level information.

Abstract: If a PHS wireless LAN combo is constituted in which a PHS base station and a wireless LAN base station are placed in the same case, their frequency bands are different but they interfere with each other due to an influence of higher harmonics, which decreases communication efficiency. When a PHS base station is in a transmitting state and a wireless LAN base station is in a receiving state, a transmission signal from the PHS base station is multiplied by a predetermined attenuation ratio so as to subtract an attenuated value from a received signal of the wireless LAN base station, and when the wireless LAN base station is in a transmitting state and the PHS base station is in a receiving state, a transmission signal from the wireless LAN base station is multiplied by the predetermined attenuation ratio so as to subtract an attenuated value from a received signal of the PHS base station.

The baseband unit commonly contains the user interfaces and control signals for controlling other portions of the circuitry. The second unit is sometimes called a frequency synthesizer unit. The second unit is dedicated to producing frequencies that are used by the communications system to create RF signals for broadcast and also to take RF signals and extract the modulated signal from them for decoding. As personal communications units have begun using an increasing number of bands it is often necessary to configure different filters to receive or broadcast the different bands. Typically, the baseband Integrated Circuit or separate circuitry does this filter configuration management.

Abstract: A system for (and a method of) selectively establishing communication with one of plural devices associated with a single telephone number during a disaster or disaster recovery period. The method can offer disaster recovery to an enterprise depending upon its size, financial well-being and desired capabilities. For example, the enterprise has the option of owning or renting all of the equipment required so that it may perform disaster recovery on its own and with little outside intervention. The enterprise may own some or none of the necessary equipment and contract with a service bureau so that the bureau provides recovery equipment when needed. The system also provides for roll call, priority preemption and seamless switching services to and from circuit and packet communication devices.

Abstract: Known telecommunication systems like a DECT-system comprising a base-station and a handset or like a Digital Home Network system comprising a controller and several devices or a car radio system comprising a car radio and a front are based upon an authorisation process for introducing a new device or for coupling an already introduced but decoupled old device to said telecommunication system. Such authorisation process, which often is user-unfriendly, can be partially or even completely avoided by either using the result of an old identification process or by using a new identification process for identifying a user, which can be done in a much more user-friendly way.

Abstract: A process for integrating cordless telephone networks into cellular mobile phone networks by using dual-system terminals which support communication over both a cordless telephone network and a mobile phone network. In the process, the mobile phone network assigns each cordless telephone network usable by a specific subscriber an own Location Area, to which a subscriber specific call number is allocated. A continuous check is made whether the subscriber is in the Location Area of the cordless telephone network available to him, and if so, then any call incoming via the mobile phone network is completed optionally or automatically by a mobile phone switching center using the call number assigned to the Location Area.
