Abstract: A relay node is operated in a communication system wherein the relay node communicates with a communication system node via a first link and communicates with user equipment (UE) via a second link. The relay node detects whether a collision between its own uplink transmission on the first link and receipt of the user's transmission on the second link at a future time instant is expected to occur, wherein the collision will interfere with the relay node's ability to receive the UE's transmission. If so, then, the relay node selects and executes one of a plurality of interference averting measures, selection being based at least in part on what type of information is expected to be transmitted and received on the respective first and second links. First and second interference averting measures comprise refraining from or proceeding with transmission of some information to the communication system node.

Abstract: In a network device comprising redundant management processors and one or more linecard processors situated on one or more linecards, a linecard processor maintains multicast information that is synchronized with multicast information, or a portion thereof, maintained by an active management processor. When a switchover is performed due to which a previous standby management processor becomes the new active management processor, the switchover is performed without interrupting any multicast routing services provided by the network device. For example, a switchover may be performed in order to upgrade a linecard processor to a new software version.

  • Patent number: 8494540
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to using available spectrum for peer to peer communications and for selecting which of several possibly available channels should be used. Various methods and apparatus are well suited to peer to peer networks in which channel usage decisions are made in a decentralized manner. A wireless terminal generates a list of potential available channels to be used for peer to peer communications, e.g., based on FCC information and/or local sensing. Channels are filled in accordance with a predetermined channel ordering. A wireless terminal migrates between the channels in accordance with changes in the number of peer devices using a channel. The network, in a distributed manner, changes the number of channels in use at a location in response to changes in numbers of active peer devices at a location.

Abstract: There is provided a mobile station that minimizes a pause or a silent period during communication at the time of a reconnection process of communication, thereby to improve the user's convenience and achieve the reduction in the load applied onto the communication network or the mobile station. When an out of synchronization detection unit 4 of a mobile station 2 detects out of synchronization, an individual timer value determination unit 53 selects two or more timer value change triggers from timer value change triggers stored in a timer value change trigger memory 51, and then determines the timer values respectively for the timer value change triggers that have been selected, based upon the determination rules stored in an individual timer value determination rule memory 52. A reconnection timer value calculation unit 54 calculates an appropriate reconnection timer value based upon the two or more individual timer values that have been determined by the individual timer value determination unit 53.
