  • Patent number: 11812339
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the disclosure can include methods, devices, and systems for locating an electronic signal sent in a large, enclosed space, including hotels and offices. The embodiments can include initiating a signal from a location within the large, enclosed structure triggered by, for example, atmospheric conditions or user input, among other triggering mechanisms. The signal can then be transmitted via low-energy, low-cost network devices placed efficiently throughout the building. Devices within the network read the message signal and efficiently continue its transmission through the network. When received by a display device, the message can be identified by its originating location and mapped against a layout of the building.

  • Patent number: 9002314
Abstract: When establishing an emergency connection in a wireless network having an authentication server, wherein a user terminal is a non-subscriber to the network, a dialed number is recognized as an emergency number and the terminal sends a start-up message to a radio access point of the network. The terminal receives a first message that requests the identity of the terminal, from the access point in response to the start-up message, and sends a second message, which contains the identity of the terminal and an indication indicating that the terminal is attempting to make an emergency call. An authentication server determines that the second message contains an indication that the call is an emergency call, and sends an acceptance message to the terminal via the access point wherein a port of the access point is validated to permit the terminal to establish an emergency connection.

Abstract: Characterization and enhancement of a mobile local scattering environment. The system includes a channel component and a link control component, wherein the channel component facilitates communication of a ping signal, which is used to estimate the delay spread characteristics and/or angle of arrival in order to characterize the mobile local scattering environment. This information is sent to the link control component, which enhances radio link performance based on the received information. The system can be used to assist in E-911 location applications, such as determining the location of an indoor user.

Abstract: A system and method for providing location information to a public safety answering point from a softphone may include receiving, at a network access point, an emergency 911 call from the softphone. The emergency 911 call may be communicated to a public safety answering point. In response to a call connection message being received, an address location of the network access point to which the softphone is in communication in placing the emergency 911 call to the public safety answering point may be communicated in a type II caller ID data packet. The softphone may generate the type II caller ID data packet with the address location in a data field, such as a data field typically used for name information of a caller.

Abstract: Techniques for routing an emergency call originated by a mobile station via a femto access point (FAP) in a wireless network and for locating the mobile station are described. In an aspect, the emergency call may be routed to an appropriate emergency center based on location information for the FAP. In one design, the location information for the FAP may include a macro cell identity (ID) and/or a macro Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ID determined based on the FAP location. The macro cell ID and/or the macro MSC ID may be assigned to the FAP and used to access a database, which may store routing information for emergency centers versus cell IDs and MSC IDs. In another design, the location information for the FAP may include a location estimate for the FAP. The location estimate may be used to access a geographic database, which may store routing information for emergency centers for different geographic areas.
