Remote Private Branch Exchange (pbx) With Wireless Link To Landline Patents (Class 455/554.1)
  • Publication number: 20040106419
Abstract: An short message service switching private branch exchange system and a method can reduce costs. The method can include certifying whether a usable DSP exists or not when an office line and a speech path are connected to each other, and transmitting an short message service signal transmitted from the office line to the DSP through a PCM channel if the usable DSP exists. A main processor of the private branch exchange can certify an extension line terminal that will receive short message service, generate an short message service signal having a format corresponding to a kind of the extension line terminal by using the DSP, and transmit the formatted SMS signal to an extension line interface unit of a corresponding extension line terminal. The system switches an SMS signal between an office line and an extension line by sharing the DSP, for example, by time division.

In a preferred embodiment, users visiting a space are equipped with mobile devices in communication with a service system. The mobile devices are arranged to deposit virtual markers of more than one type with the service system as the users progress around the space. These markers are stored may be decayed with time, either individually or in location-dependent marker aggregations. Abstract: A soft switch providing wireless PBX voice services to a local area network (WLAN) is used to extend PBX functionality to the cellular domain. A dual mode remote unit is capable of receiving signals both in the cellular system as well as the WLAN. The cellular system is comprised of a data-bearing path and a voice-bearing path. When the dual mode remote unit is within the WLAN, it communicates both voice over IP (VoIP) signaling as well as session initiation protocol (SIP) control signaling over the WLAN. When the remote unit is outside the WLAN, it communicates voice signaling over the voice-bearing path of the cellular network using a standard cellular voice channel. In parallel, it uses the data-bearing path of the cellular network to transmit SIP control signaling.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a communication system for controlling the user interface of a mobile communication terminal (MKE), which is registered to a communication facility (PBX). Said communication facility uses a stimulus telephone protocol (STP) for controlling a user interface of wire-linked communication terminals (DEG). According to the invention, control information for the representation of the user interface in the mobile communication terminal (MKE) is transmitted by the communication facility (PBX) to the mobile communication terminal (MKE) at least partially by means of a packet-oriented communication protocol (WAP) converted from the stimulus telephone protocol (STP).

Abstract: A power management method and apparatus for a wireless LAN module in a computer system may include a communication sensitivity checking unit for checking a communication sensitivity of a wireless communications channel. If a communications sensitivity is lower than a desired value, a power mode of the wireless LAN module is changed into a sleep mode for a predetermined period of time. After the delay period expires, the wireless LAN module is switched back into a normal mode, and the communications sensitivity is checked again. If the communications sensitivity is acceptable, a data checking unit checks to determine whether there is data to be transmitted/received by the wireless LAN module. If no data needs to be sent, at least the transmission block of the wireless LAN module can be set to the power down mode. Also, if an attempt to set up a communications channel is unsuccessful, the device can be set to the power down mode for a predetermined delay period.

Abstract: A wireless communication system constructed according to the present invention includes an originating mobile switching center (MSC), a home location register (HLR), a serving MSC and supporting infrastructure for each MSC. Such supporting infrastructure includes a plurality of base station controllers (BSC) and a plurality of base stations. The base stations support wireless communications within respective cells to service mobile units operating in the cells. When a call is received by the originating MSC intended for the mobile unit, the originating MSC determines whether the call originated from a private branch exchange. Such determination is made based upon whether the call was incoming on a designated trunk line or from a caller ID assigned to the private branch exchange. If the call originated from the private branch exchange, the call is competed and a distinctive ringing is provided to the mobile unit to indicate that the call originated at the private branch exchange.
