  • Patent number: 8036699
Abstract: It is possible to surely protect the user's ear from a sudden large volume and enable the user to surely and clearly hear a sound as information to be alarmed. In case an incoming call signal is received when the user holds a mobile telephone (1) at the speaking position and listens to a message output from an audio output unit (8), a control unit (17) makes a vibrator (27) generate a vibration as an alarm to call user's attention. At the timing when the user has sufficiently separated the mobile telephone (1) from his/her ear, the control unit (17) makes the audio output unit (8) output a ringtone of large volume. Thus, it is possible to surely protect the user's ear from a sudden large volume. Even when a music composition to notify the receipt of incoming call signal is used as a ringtone, the user can surely and clearly hear the sound as information to be alarmed.

  • Patent number: 7831214
Abstract: A T/R module utilizes a low noise amplifier in both the transmit and receive modes. In this manner the low noise amplifier enables one to provide a T/R module which has reduced prime power and lower weight and particularly useful in airship radar systems and spaced based radar systems. The low noise amplifier is switched between a receive and a transmit mode by switching mechanism which in the receive mode enables the antenna to be directed to the input of the low noise amplifier with the output of the low noise amplifier directed to a phase shifter and attenuator. The switching operates in a transmit mode where the output of the low noise amplifier is connected to the input of the antenna while the input of the low noise amplifier is now connected to the phase shifter and attenuator for providing a transmit signal. The invention has an additional benefit of enabling linear Class A operation in the transmit mode in both radar and communication systems supporting beam shaping and waveform shaping capabilities.

Abstract: A high-speed CMOS transmit/receive antenna switch includes a first transistor, a second transistor and a parasitic compensation network. The first transistor is operably coupled to an antenna, to a transmit path, and to receive a transmit/receive (T/R) control signal. The second transistor is operably coupled to the antenna, the receive path, and to receive the T/R control signal. When the T/R control signal is in a first state, the first transistor is active and the second transistor is inactive such that the transmit path is coupled to the antenna. When the T/R control signal is in a second state, the second transistor is active and the first transistor is inactive such that the receive path is coupled to the antenna. The parasitic compensation network is coupled to compensate for adverse effects of parasitic components of the first and second transistors at operating frequencies of the transmit/receive antenna switch.

An operation controller checks the usage condition in response to a detection result of a usage detector. The operation controller retrieves a threshold corresponding to a check result from the storage unit, and outputs the retrieved threshold to a VOX controller unit. The mobile terminal thus achieves a VOX capability optimally in correspondence with various use conditions.

Abstract: A radio frequency switching apparatus wherein a filter for a transmitter module passes a transmission frequency to an antenna in a transmission mode and isolates the antenna and the transmitter module from each other in a reception mode. The radio frequency switching apparatus comprises a filter connected between the transmitter module and the antenna for passing a transmitted signal from the transmitter module to the antenna in the transmission mode. The filter also acts to cut off a reception frequency in the reception mode. The switching apparatus further comprises a first switching device for isolating the transmitter module and the antenna from each other in the reception mode, and a second switching device for isolating the antenna and a receiver module from each other in the transmission mode. No separate ¼ wavelength strip line is required, making the circuitry of the switching apparatus simpler and, thus, the size thereof smaller.

  • Patent number: 6961544
Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated structure of a radio-frequency front end of a communications apparatus. The antenna of the communications apparatus is constructed on a printed circuit board. To this antenna board (310), on its ground plane side, a second circuit board (321) is attached by means of a rigid protective frame (410), which second circuit board includes the other parts of the radio-frequency front end. Between the parts impedance levels are used that are appropriate from the electrical operation perspective. All said parts together form an integrated component (400) to be located inside the housing of the communications apparatus. The advantage of the invention is that it requires a smaller number of components needed for matching between the RF parts, and makes possible a greater sensitivity of the receiver as well as a better transmitter efficiency than prior art structures.

Abstract: A remotely mountable weatherproof bi-directional, half-duplex switching amplifier system is designed to provide maximum range for low power half-duplex radios such as Spread Spectrum radio transceivers. This invention automatically senses when to go into the transmitter amplification mode and puts all the transmit power right at the antenna. In the receive mode, it provides low noise pre amplification of received signals at the antenna thereby minimizing or even eliminating the effects of the coaxial transmission line from the radio transceiver to the remote location of the antenna. The invention is preferred to be in a waterproof enclosure adjacent to the antenna mounted to a pole and powered by a DC injector and excited by a transceiver, both pole and injector located remote from the mounting pole and also includes an improved electrostatic overvoltage protection device.
