  • Patent number: 6269618
Abstract: A feederhouse on an agricultural combine. Having a first acoustic array having a first sounding board and acoustic sensor positioned beneath the front drum and feederhouse floor. A second acoustic array positioned behind the front drum and between the conveyor chain encircling the front and rear drums. The second acoustic array also has a second acoustic sensor and second sounding plate. The acoustic sensor detects the impact of a stone on the sounding plates. A signal is transmitted via a controller from the sensor to a solenoid controlling a stone trap door latch. When the door opens, a sled also rotates into contact with conveyor chain. This deflects any crop flow containing stones. To close the door, the feederhouse is raised and the door rotates into contact with the latch.

  • Patent number: 5462487
Abstract: A rock guard for a crop harvesting combine header. The guard is attached to the grain table immediately behind the cutter bar and extends vertically upward from the grain table such that the upper edge is spaced below the resilient fingers of the reel when they move over the guard. Gaps formed in the guard register with the joints of the flexible grain table so that the guard will flex with the grain table. Brackets used to mount the guard to the grain table are secured by the exiting cutter bar bolts so that no special mounting holes are needed.

  • Patent number: 5368522
Abstract: A rotary combine including a feeder mechanism and a rotor assembly having an impeller assembly arranged at a forward end of a rotor. The feeder mechanism includes a housing which is pivotally connected to the combine about a transverse axis. The feeder mechanism housing envelops a conveyor assembly used to impart linear movements to the crop materials as they are advanced toward the rotor assembly. Prior to their introduction to the rotor assembly, the linearly advancing crop materials are discharged from a rotary member. A salient feature of the present invention involves the communicative relationship established between the rearmost rotary member from which the crop materials are discharged and the foremost end of the impeller assembly.

  • Patent number: 5186683
Abstract: A stone trap assembly for inhibiting stones, rocks, and the like from passing into a combine threshing area from a feeder mechanism adapted to advance crop material through a housing. The stone trap assembly includes a stone receiving trough and a rotatable beater mechanism arranged in combination relative to each other. The stone trough and beater mechanism conjunctively extend laterally across the width of the feeder mechanism. The feeder mechanism includes a series of spiral flight sections, with each flight section having a helix configuration between opposite ends thereof to enhance performance of the feeder mechanism by lessening cyclic contact of the beater mechanism with the crop material passing therethrough and providing a generally uniform flow of crop material to the threshing area of the combine.
