Abstract: An after-threshing device for a combine harvester (10) comprises a returns conveyor (72), which is located downstream from a returns auger (52), and an after-threshing element (74), which is located within a housing (98), with a vertical rotation axis, which can be acted on in an axial direction from above with the returns from the outlet (86) of the returns conveyor (72), and a radially situated discharge opening (118) by means of which the after-threshed returns can be supplied to a conveyor (42) for the transport of the after-threshed returns to a cleaning device (46). For the active conveyance of the returns, an impeller (90) with a horizontal rotation axis is located between the outlet (86) of the returns conveyor (72) and the after-threshing element (74).
Abstract: A measuring device for measuring harvested crop throughput is provided with a dosing device that adds additional grain to the flow of harvested crop material being processed to better calibrate the measuring device. The dosing device adds a defined amount of grain that can be detected by the measuring device.

Abstract: A rotary impeller for a tailings conveyor of an agricultural combine, for threshing tailings and propelling the tailings through a portion of the conveyor, including a mounting portion mountable to a rotatable member for rotation in a predetermined rotational direction about a rotational axis, a plurality of blades extending generally radially outwardly from the mounting portion, each of the blades including a surface facing in the rotational direction including a radially outermost threshing portion for threshing the tailings and propelling the tailings in the rotational direction through the portion of the conveyor, and a tailings deflecting portion disposed between the threshing portion and the mounting portion, the tailings deflecting portion having a convex shape for deflecting and directing tailings contacted thereby during the rotation in a radially outward direction into a rotational path of the threshing portion so as to be threshed thereby and accelerated through the conveyor.

Abstract: Improved agricultural technology has increased yields of cereal crops to a level wherein the crop residues left on the land are of such volume as to interfere with the following crop. Historically, these residues have been incinerated and the practice continues to this day, polluting the air, causing health problems, destroying valuable natural plant foods and soil humus. It is the nature of cereal crop residues to degrade slowly because of their low nitrogen content and complex polysaccharide chemical moieties. This application teaches that by crushing and shredding the crop residue and applying a liquid nutrient enrichment medium for the growth of the native soil microflora decay can be accelerated.
