Straw Chaff Spreader Or Handling (discharge) Patents (Class 460/111)
  • Patent number: 7086942
Abstract: For operating a self propelling harvester provided with a cutterbar and a chopping and distributing device located in a discharge region and supplying a crop stream to at least one ejecting blower, a discharge direction of the crop stream from the ejecting blower is adjusted by a breaking edge which is longitudinally displaceable by a drive, wherein the drive for adjusting the at least one breaking edge is regulated depending on the working width of the cutterbar and/or depending on the distribution of the crop stream on the ground, to adapt the scattering width automatically to the working width of the cutterbar and to distribute in a uniform layer density on the ground.

  • Patent number: 6976913
Abstract: A crop chopper arrangement generally comprises a discharge apparatus having an inlet adapted to receive chopped crop from a crop chopper for an agricultural machine. The arrangement further includes a row of guide vanes positioned substantially transversely to a longitudinal axis of the agricultural machine and adapted to spread out a flow of the chopped crop from the discharge apparatus in a direction substantially rearwards to a direction of travel of the agricultural machine. One or more of the guide vanes has a shape or configuration that is adapted to impart a predetermined deviation to at least a portion of a flow of chopped crop passing through said discharge apparatus. The shape or configuration of each guide vane is dependent on its transverse position in the row. This arrangement makes it possible to realize an even distribution of the chopped crop over the full width of the harvester header.

  • Patent number: 5775991
Abstract: A straw discharge assembly allows the beater to reach further towards the rotational axis of the threshing rotor, thus enabling it to remove a greater percentage of the straw which otherwise collects on the housing frame members. The beater has a barrel-shaped body, but it takes on an hourglass shape as it is divided into a center section with shorter blades and two side sections with longer blades, giving the center section a smaller effective diameter than the two side sections. The beater does not interfere with the rotational path of the rotor housing frame even though it is effectively closer to the housing frame. With their longer blades, the side sections are closer to the rotating frame legs and can therefore pull down and discharge more of the obstructed straw. The discharge grate is conformed to the effective shape of the rotor in a similar fashion.

  • Patent number: 5120275
Abstract: The attachment is mounted on the combine near the chaff discharge outlet and includes a transverse trough positioned to receive chaff particles issuing from the outlet. A powerful, fast-moving stream of air introduced into the trough near its center is split into two oppositely moving streams directed toward opposite ends of the trough so that the chaff particles become entrained in the streams and propelled to outboard locations before dropping to the ground in a dispersed and scattered condition.

  • Patent number: 5021030
Abstract: A straw spreader for the rear straw discharge of a combine comprises a frame mounted on ground wheels together with a pair of hitch arms which extend forwardly from the frame on either side of the rear portion of the combine for attachment to the combine frame structure. The separate frame can thus move up and down relative to the rear of the combine and maintains a pair of spreader spinners on the frame at a predetermined height relative to the ground. Guide surfaces collect the material from the chopper at the rear of the combine and direct it onto the spinners for a spreading action. The low height of the spreading action reduces dust emission and enhances spreading consistency. An accumulator can be provided between the spreader and the discharge in the rear of the combine to allow the amount of straw spread to be varied relative to the amount collected at any particular point on the field.

  • Patent number: 4923431
Abstract: A chaff spreader for attachment to a combine includes a pair of spaced circular mounting rings, each having a fan rotatably mounted therein. An elongated drive shaft extends between the fans and is connected to a belt and pulled drive system for rotating the fans. A semi-cylindrical shroud is secured between the mounting rings and partially surrounds the fans. An open side wall portion of the shroud is directed forwardly toward the sieve of the combine for inducting chaff through the fans and laterally outwardly from the combine. The belt and pulley drive system is connected to a pulley on a straw chopper section of the combine. In a second embodiment, a generator driven light is mounted on the combine, adjacent the fans to serve as a warning to indicate fan rotation. The shaft spreader collects chaff through a suction effect created by the fans and spreads chaff evenly across the width of the cut, eliminating the toxic effect to seedlings growing through a concentration of chaff residue.

  • Patent number: 4917652
Abstract: A harvester thresher is provided with a device for distributing grain-chaff mixture coming from a grain separating device over the whole width of a cutting mechanism which is generally substantially wider than the harvester thresher itself. For this purpose the housing which surrounds discs provided with distributing strips peripherally and at their one end side is provided with an additional air supply opening, so that in the region of the distributing strips a suction aspirates the grain-chaff mixture into the distributing device.

  • Patent number: 4892504
Abstract: A straw chopper and spreader assembly for receiving straw from a threshing machine, has a casing enclosing a pair of contra-rotatable flail assemblies. The flails are mounted in different horizontal planes and have blades which overlap so as to shear and chop the straw. At the rear of the casing is a rear outlet defined between a rear skirt and a bottom extension of the casing. The rear skirt is adjustble so as to enlarge or reduce the size of the rear outlet. In addition to discharge through the rear outlet, chopped straw is also discharged laterally through side chutes which have removable end portions so that discharge selectively may be outwardly and upwardly or outwardly and downwardly. Chaff spreading discs are mounted below the assembly and rotates horizontally.
