  • Patent number: 5867971
Abstract: An improvement for the header of a cereal grain harvesting combine is disclosed. A first version of disclosure provides rollers driving two or more chain loops which in turn carry a plurality of slats which propel cut crop material rearwardly. A second version of the disclosure includes rollers carrying an endless loop of canvass fabric. The canvass fabric is preferably covered with a rubberized coating, which protects against water damage and better frictionally engages the cut crop material. The fabric supports a plurality of slats which propel cut crop material rearwardly. A third version of the disclosure includes three rotating tubes, each having a square cross-section, that aid in more rapidly and more evenly inputting cut crop material. The tubes carry elongate felt strips which frictionally engage the cut crop, moving it rearwardly. The tubes tend to move the cut crop that would otherwise be too low to be engaged by the rotating spikes used between the left and right augers.

  • Patent number: 5865675
Abstract: The invention is a harvester which is able to weigh harvested fruit. The harvester transfers the fruit from the harvester by a transfer conveyor. The weighing system is a first shoe and a second shoe supported on the end of the transfer conveyor. A load cell supports the second shoe and is used to determine the weight of the fruit in the second shoe. A linkage system is used to keep the first shoe and second shoe in desired relative positions as the transfer conveyor is moved up or down.

  • Patent number: 5857907
Abstract: A grain combine threshes grain from crop and deposits the grain in a grain bin. A discharge conveyor is mounted to the grain bin. At the distal end of the discharge conveyor is a discharge for expelling the grain. A telescopic, secondary unloader which is smaller than the discharge conveyor is located immediately below the discharge. The secondary unloader may be variably extended beyond the end of the discharge, or retracted when it is not in use. The secondary unloader is divided into grain conveying and paddle return sections which are formed from a partition which extends along the length of the secondary unloader. Paddles are provided in each section and are joined to a continuous flexible linkage mounted around sprockets. The secondary unloader uses hydraulic cylinders to extend and retract. When the secondary unloader is retracted, it is recessed inward from the distal end of the discharge conveyor which operates in a conventional manner by discharging grain from the discharge.

  • Patent number: 5816912
Abstract: This invention is a separator-conveyor that uses a scissors action to cut stems, roots, vines and other debris from a crop being harvested and processed. This is accomplished by providing a plurality of multi-sided rollers having sharp edges disposed alternately at an angle to adjacent rollers causing a scissors type cutting action that starts at one end of such rollers and continues to the other end. A plurality of the scissors action separator-conveyors can be used in conjunction with drying systems on a crop harvester-processor. This harvester-processor allows root crops such as peanuts to be harvested, cleaned, dried and graded in one continuous operation.

  • Patent number: 5784869
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a corn head auger crop divider located in the auger trough of a corn head. The divider is positioned between the center row divider and center of the feeder house opening. The divider does not contact the transverse auger and transverse auger flighting. The divider consists of a rear divider partially nested within the front divider. The front divider has a triangularly shaped top region. This orients a pair of side embankments so as to smoothly alter the flow of corn crop. In operation, the corn ears are pushed into the auger trough by the gathering chains within the row divider. The transverse auger pushes the corn crop to the center of the corn head where it contacts the side embankment of the front divider. The side embankment changes the direction of the corn crops flow so that it is directed into the feeder house opening.

The improved accelerator roll assembly is particularly adapted for use in a combine including a threshing assembly, straw walkers and a cleaning section and which further includes a belt type conveyor for conveying threshed material falling through the straw walkers to an opening to the cleaning section. An accelerator roll is mounted in front of and in closely spaced relation to a drive roller for the conveyor such that the accelerator roll and the conveyor belt passing around the conveyor drive roller cooperate to accelerate, in a downward direction, threshed material passing therebetween. The threshed material is directed through a rearwardly directed stream of air of sufficient velocity to entrain and carry rearward the lighter chaff and stalk particles while the heavier kernels of grain pass downward through the stream of air to the grain pan.
