Abstract: Utilizing the quick disconnect driveshaft transmission yoke of the present invention, just a ½ turn of 4 lock nuts on a pair of split lock collars frees a splined slider from its fixed engagement with an external (male) splined output transmission shaft and allows the splined slider to slide rearward within yoke. The splined slider slides rearward within the yoke until the splined slider slides free of the external (male) splined output transmission shaft. The yoke, which has also been freed from the locking engagement of the split lock collars, then drops free and clear of the external (male) splined output transmission shaft. The transmission can then be slid back and the transmission bell housing removed to service the clutch, all without unbolting the driveshaft from either the differential or the yoke. The coupling sleeve is connected to the pinion neck or to the roll neck. The spindle is guided between the coupling sleeves by means of at least one support element arranged in the region of the spindle axis and an axially adjustable pressure plunger. The internal toothing of the coupling sleeve extends beyond the curved toothing of the wobbler and has at least a supporting length which corresponds to the length of the possible axial displacement of the spindle.

Abstract: A gear coupling adapted to be capable of absorbing torsional shock loads between a power driven shaft 1 and a power drive shaft 2 comprises a drive member 3 and driven member 4 which extend from two sides into, and engage with, hollow intermediate member 5 so that the three members rotate in unison. The driven member 3 and preferably also the drive member 4 engage the intermediate member 5 by helical gear teeth 3B, 5A, 4B, 5B and a resilient member 6 such as a bank of disc springs is present between the drive member and the intermediate member. The coupling is arranged do that under the influence of a torsional shock load, the resultant axial separating force urges the intermediate member against the bias of the springs, to thereby reduce any damaging effects of the shock load.

Abstract: Two pairs of axial force transmitting coupling members (22, 24) and one pair of torque transmitting coupling members (26, 28) are arranged inside a housing (20). An annular cavity (42) each is formed in the housing (20) between each of the two pairs of axial force transmitting coupling members 922, 24) and the pair of torque transmitting coupling members (26, 28). A lubricant inlet opening (44) adapted to be closed opens into one of the annular cavities (42). An air outlet opening (54) is provided at the housing (20) at least approximately diametrically opposite the lubricant inlet opening (44) and communicates with the other of the two annular cavities (42) and likewise can be closed. In this manner the cavities (42) can be filled with liquid lubricant and freed of entrapped air in full measure in a short time.

Abstract: A gear-type shaft coupling for connecting shafts in an end-to-end relation, in which there are two hubs mounted on the ends of the shafts and sleeves disposed on the hubs and having internal gearing for meshing with external gearing on the hubs. A ring overlaps and connects the two sleeves to form a rigid assembly for transmitting torque between the gear teeth of one hub and the gear teeth of the other hub. Bolts or screws extending radially connect the ring and the sleeves and, in several embodiments of the invention, the ring is segmented to permit the ring to be easily assembled in the coupling as the coupling is installed on the drive and driven machinery.

Abstract: The invention contemplates a universal coupling wherein rotatable input and output members are coupled both (1) for universal flexible accommodation of the instantaneous angular orientation (misalignment) of their rotary axes about a single point of axis intersection and (2) for gear-tooth drive engagement in the transmission of torque from one to the other of these members. The result is to achieve both (1) and (2) above (a) for a greater range of axis misalignment than is possible with universal couplings of the past, (b) with greater uniformly high torque transmission as a function of incremental rotation of the coupling members, and (c) with symmetry of torque-transmitting force development with respect to the axes of rotation.
