  • Patent number: 6367191
Abstract: A method of sawdust-based cultivation of Shiitake (Cortinellus Shiitake) and a cultivation water tank used for the method in which a top portion of a cultivation bag which includes a cultivation bed (sawdust-based substrate) is cut to expose a top surface of the cultivation bed and water is poured into a gap between the bag and bed; and a cultivation water tank comprises a framework, water tanks arranged in the framework, sawdust-based substrates arranged in the water tank, a latticed frame, water sprinklers, an air blower and illuminators, a pump connected to the water pipe and the exhaust pipe through a pipe, exhaust pipes provided at a drain pipe so that water may not overflow onto the top surface of the sawdust-based substrates which is characterized in that water is circulated to refrain mushrooms from fruiting and growing from the side and bottom faces of the sawdust-based substrates, but to grow only from the top surface of sawdust-based substrates.

  • Patent number: 6358731
Abstract: A sterilizable cultivation system is provided for growing selected organisms for use in biological applications and the cultivation edible fungi. A sealable, sterilizable container holds a growth substrate in a sterile condition. A separate, adhesive vent filter is provided, which is adhereable to a vent opening in the container. The vent filter is gas permeable and allows gas exchange between the interior of the container and the ambient environment, but prevents the passage of microbes and other organisms into or out of the container. This gas exchange prevents excess carbon dioxide from accumulating in the container and allows necessary oxygen into the container in order to maintain an appropriate growth environment for the selected organisms. The vent filter may be combined with the container (a) during manufacture of new containers, or (b) in the field by the end-user on new containers or on re-cycled containers.

  • Patent number: 6343435
Abstract: The invention concerns intraspecific hybrids of Agaricus bisporus capable of bearing fruit at relatively high temperature and without roughing-in, and the method for obtaining them consisting in a step of cross-breeding in particular between a first and a second Agaricus bisporus, one of which at least belongs to the burnettii variety, and a step of selecting the resulting hybrids having the characteristics mentioned above. The cultivation of the resulting hybrids is easier and less expensive than the standard method of cultivating mushrooms.

  • Patent number: 6334274
Abstract: A method of sawdust-based cultivation of Shiitake (Cortinellus Shiitake) in which a number of cultivated primordiums are decreased simply by elevating temporarily a temperature into a zone between 20 degree C. and 40 degree C. during/between a cultivation step and a growing step, thus adjusting a number of grown mushroom fruiting bodies.
