Vertical Patents (Class 47/47)
  • Patent number: 4074461
Abstract: A novel, improved plant support device universally adaptable for holding one or more upright plant-supporting masts substantially vertical in conjunction with a flower pot or other planter receptacle without penetrating the soil or disturbing plant root growth. The support mast can be readily mounted directly to or indirectly in conjunction with the rim portion of the receptacle by means of a pair of generally horizontal cross-disposed mast-traversing-and-supporting rods, each rod separately intersecting the lower base portion of the mast on closely vertically spaced levels, with the ends of the respective horizontal rods slipped through correspondingly provided holes or slots in the upper rim portion of the plant receptacle. Various rim hole and slot arrangements are disclosed to provide for a variety of differing dispositions of one or more of the masts relative to the receptacle's center and/or rim to readily accommodate varying plant stalk/stem locations therein.

  • Patent number: 4027410
Abstract: A stake for identifying a potted plant or seedling and insertable into a soil mixture is formed from a thin, flexible material. The stake includes a generally rectangular body, an integral shaft extending from the body and including at its end, remote from the body a generally triangular-shaped or barbed end integral with the shaft. The stake has a generally curved cross-section and a plurality of raised or embossed ridges extending longitudinally of the stake to increase the rigidity of the stake.

  • Patent number: 4026068
Abstract: A tomato plant support which uses plural stakes or uprights in surrounding relation about the plant and lateral members extending from these stakes to support the tomato-laden vines of the plant, but wherein the lateral members are intentionally not continuous, as is the case in prior art counterparts. Specifically, the discontinuity, or openings in the vine support structure, facilitate the relocation of each vine from a lower to a higher elevation support, in response to the growth of the plant.

  • Patent number: 4022436
Abstract: A sectional fence composed of a lattice of bars running horizontally and vertically. The ends of at least some of the bars are formed with connector forms such that one end of the bar can be connected to its opposite end to form a cylindrical fence, such connector forms also being thereby connectible to similar connectors on other sections of fence to build up a larger fence by sections either horizontally or vertically.

  • Patent number: 4020592
Abstract: A dish-shaped base is placed under and forms a reservoir for receiving excess liquid from a planter of the type having a centrally located bottom drain. The base includes a centrally disposed socket which projects into the drain to center the planter and base, and a plurality of ribs radiating outwardly from the socket and forming a seat to support the planter in a spaced relation with the bottom wall of the base. In addition to forming a seat for the planter, the ribs simultaneously reinforce the base and buttress the socket. An elongate, rod-like plant support of manually variable length is adapted for insertion vertically through the soil within the planter and into releasable engagement with the socket; the socket restraining the plant support against tilting under the influence of transversely applied pressure, as when a plant or branch is tied thereto.

  • Patent number: 3935671
Abstract: A modular planter panel system comprising a plurality of substantially identical modules forms decorative room dividers, partitions, or the like, by utilizing climbing plants such as ivy or vines. Each module substantially comprises: a frame; a planter box fixedly attached to the bottom portion of the frame and including the climbing plant; and relatively flexible means connecting associated portions of the frame for supporting the growing portions of the plant. Further means are included for supporting the module from the ceiling, from a horizontal overhead track, from a wall, or on the floor.
