Abstract: A rolling machine comprises parallel guides delimiting a workpiece conveying channel extending from a plurality of per se known rolling tools to a machined workpiece unloading arrangement, wherein, upstream of the workpiece unloading arrangement, one of the channel delimiting guides is operatively coupled to a structural element swingably supported by a pivot pin, the structural element being integral with the piston rod of a cylinder-piston unit slidably driving the structural element together with the channel delimiting guide, thereby providing a side unloading opening for the workpiece.
Abstract: A pneumatic or manual impact operated nailer requires fasteners in a clip, typically of about 100 fasteners. The invention provides uniform well-bonded fasteners in a clip for use in a pneumatic or manual nailer, the clips being adhesive-free. In addition, this invention provides a method and apparatus for manufacturing such adhesive-free clips by press-forming the fasteners, placing them in proper orientation in a fixture on a rotatable turret rotating the turret to a welding location, spot welding or seam welding the fasteners, and rotating the turret to a clip unloading station. The clip product is also disclosed.
Abstract: Apparatus for inserting elongate members axially into receiving means has elongate member supply means to support and supply the elongate members continuously side-by-side substantially upright in a line. Indexed means serves to supply the receiving means relative to a delivery position and associated delivery means for insertion of the elongate members at least partially into the receiving means. A rotary indexed transfer wheel has spaced edge slots to receive and retain the elongate members in transferring said elongate members between the supply means therefor and said delivery position.

Abstract: A fastener forming apparatus comprises a positive stop that prevents workpieces from overshooting the end of a forming stroke. A workpiece transfer mechanism transfers one unformed workpiece at a time into a workpiece gripper and drives completed workpieces out of the workpiece gripper and onto an exit path. A compound hydro-pneumatic cylinder moves the gripper and one workpiece at a time downward into contact with a rotating forming tool. A knurled ring is adjustably supported on a threaded portion of a lower piston of the hydro-pneumatic cylinder in a position to contact a stationary stop surface when the workpiece gripper and tool reach the end of the forming stroke, halting the downward motion of the workpiece. The ring also actuates a lower limit switch at the stationary stop surface which causes the reciprocator to reverse direction. The forming tool includes a tool adapter head that holds various forming implements such as cutting blades or drill bits.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming slots in headless screws includes a rotatable disc holding, along its circumferential end, a plurality of clamps which extend radially and are spaced apart circumferentially and which respectively have radial screw receiving spaces opening at the circumferential end, a feeding member provided above the rotatable disc to drop screws into the screw receiving spaces successively, a rotary cutter unit provided downstream of the feeding member for successively cutting the ends of the screws exposed from the screw receiving spaces, and a press member provided adjacent to the rotary cutter unit for successively pressing the clamps to their clamping positions. Each clamp has first and second components which include connecting parts interconnected to one another and clamping parts having cavities that complement one another to form the screw receiving space. The clamping part of the second component is bendable towards the clamping part of the first component when pressed by the press member.
Abstract: An apparatus for making elongated headed workpieces having a conveyor device for successively transporting elongated workpieces such as wire pieces transversely to their longitudinal axes from one treatment station into at least one treatment station and including a guided conveyor belt assembly to which the workpieces may be clamped by their circumferential surfaces. Two sections, running together and side by side, of two conveyor belts are guided in such a manner between the stations that they remain in immovable contact on both sides with the transported workpieces. At least one of the two conveyor belts is a toothed belt in which the gaps between the teeth take up the workpieces singly.
