Abstract: A fastener cutting device comprises a body portion with a top surface and an back surface. The back surface is adapted to allow the device to be mounted to a flat mounting surface. The top surface has a guide extending generally parallel to the top surface above the top surface. The guide has an open end and a fixed end opposite the open end. The guide is spaced from the top surface at a dimension sufficient to accommodate a fastener. The cutting device further comprises a cutter disposed between the guide and the top surface generally adjacent to the guide fixed end. The guide and the top surface are arranged to allow the fastener to be movable therebetween such that the cutter may be brought against the fastener to cut the fastener, either by drawing the fastener against the cutter or by deflecting the guide toward the cutter.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a bolting part, such as a screw or a nut. The bolting part having a head with a periphery having at least one shoulder extending in a radial plane. The method includes at least the following forming steps: shearing of a wire of material so as to obtain a part of determined length, calibration of the part so as to correct the geometry of the part, rough machining of the calibrated part so as to obtain the head of the bolting part, and finishing of the rough-machined part by means of a third punch so as to form a head having at least one shoulder. The calibration, rough machining and finishing steps being carried out only by cold heading.
Abstract: A device gaging, tapping and/or re-chasing threaded devices which automatically accommodates and corrects for both lateral offset and angular offset between the longitudinal axis of the threaded member of the device and the threaded member being tested.
Abstract: Interference surfaces are constructed on inner transition surfaces between wings of a fastener having a spiral recess. A portion of the transition surface is tapered to provide the interference. A standard driver for a spiral recess will engage the interference surface to create a “stick fit” engagement. The punch is formed using a wire EDM operation to construct tapered surfaces within the die cavity of a hob. The hob is machined down to obtain the desired depth, which is measured up from a gage spot indicative of the sticking point.
Abstract: A cold or hot-forging heading die used in metalworking to form a “head” on the end of a metal rod is configured to provide two heading cavities formed in opposite ends of the carbide insert. The heading die of the invention comprises a hardened steel ring with a cylindrical carbide insert having a through bore with a first cavity machined concentrically with the bore in one end of the carbide insert. The die is then inverted and a second cavity formed in the opposite end of the insert. The second cavity can be identical to the first cavity or provide the shape for an alternate head configuration.
Abstract: In a tapping unit according to the invention, the tap is held in a tap-carrier which is screwed into a pattern retained and fixed against rotation in a casing. The tap, the tap-carrier and the pattern form a subassembly mobile with limited amplitude in axial translation and radial displacement inside the casing, so that the tap can follow unwanted movements of the part being tapped.
Abstract: A repair device includes a base member having a notch-like recess for receiving threaded members, and having an oblong hole formed in one end for slidably receiving a pivot shaft. A pair of arms each includes one end rotatably and slidably secured to the base member by the sliding engagement of the pivot shaft in the oblong hole of the base member, and the other end having a chamfer for engaging with the threaded members. A conduit is rotatably secured to the base member, a rod is threaded with the conduit, and a link is coupled between the arms and the rod, for allowing the arms to slide relative to the base member and the threaded members.
Abstract: A device for cleaning-and-restoring threads of a threaded article for more easily and efficiently cleaning and restoring threads of various sized threaded article. The device for cleaning and restoring threads of a threaded article includes a pliers comprising a handle having a first arm and a second arm pivotally coupled to the first arm. The pliers also include a pair of jaws. Each of the jaws is formed on one of the second ends of each of the arms. A pair of jaw extensions is provided for gripping, cleaning and reforming the threads of a threaded article. Each of the jaw extensions is coupled to and extending away from one of the jaws. Each of the jaw extensions includes an inner surface which are in an opposed relationship to each other. A plurality of teeth is provided for engaging the threads of the threaded article. Each of the teeth is attached to the inner surface of each of the jaw extensions.
Abstract: A screw drive recess mold for forming screw drive recesses which has a body and a mold base. The mold base consists of four symmetrical fan-shaped protrusions and a center square protrusion. Four elongate rectangular hollow spaces are located in each of the middles between every two neighboring fan-shaped protrusions. A compound screw drive recess formed by this drive recess mold can be driven by various conventional drivers such as of a slot, of a Phillips (cross), of a square, of a cross-square, and of a Pozi. With the tailor made screw driver of this compound drive recess, the drive recess will be able not only to withstand high driving torques but also to securely retain the drive bit (the screw driver) within the recess.
Abstract: A blade punch for forming teeth in a connector plate, the blade punch comprising an elongated blade having a metal working tip at one end and a shank at the other end. The blade has an elongated cross-section defined by opposing parallel spaced planar side walls and opposing ends. Each end comprises a major end wall and a minor end wall which converge to end wall intersections, where the end wall intersections are eccentric to a plane parallel to and midway between said side walls. Each end wall intersects a side wall at an obtuse angle. The metal working tip has opposed air cut faces abutting one another along an air cut edge and opposed first and second forming faces, each of the forming faces abutting one of the air cut faces along an exterior edge. Each of the air cut faces is bordered by a portion of one of the minor end walls, a portion of one of the side walls, the air cut edge, and one of the exterior edges.
Abstract: Improved die for use in the manufacture of self drilling screws comprising a forwardly disposed work face provided with cavity for forming the point and flute section of the screw, a recess proximate to the cavity for receiving a portion of the flash material produced during forging and a planar bumper area terminating in a top edge proximate to the cavity.
Abstract: A thread-cutting chuck for CNC machine technology of rigid tapping, with a clamping means held in a chuck shaft, particularly a collet chuck, for the tap, an accommodating part, which is held in the chuck shaft without clearance in the direction of rotation and, in the axial direction in the tension and compression directions, has a slight axial clearance cushioned by elastomeric connections disposed between the clamping means and the shaft of the chuck.
