Abstract: An object of improvement is a threading tool that includes multiple cutting edges 3-1 to 3-n (where n is 5 in the drawings) disposed side by side and that performs threading successively using the multiple cutting edges to form a thread. At least one of the cutting edges of the tool except a finishing edge 3-5 is deviated in an opposite-to-feed-direction direction of the tool (may instead be the feed direction).
Abstract: A pivoting split thread chasing die with fastener is disclosed. In one example, the fastener can include a retainer that captures the fastener within one half of the thread chasing die. The thread chasing die may make it easier for a user to refurbish threads of large bolts and studs.
Abstract: A rethreading die for clamping over a section of threaded rod is formed of two separable identically die section halves. Each die section has one-half of an outer gripping surface and an inner abutment face formed of identically shaped spaced first and second face sections in a common plane. One face section has a perpendicular alignment pin and the second face section has a perpendicular recess. The first and second faces are spaced and in a common plane. The die sections are joined together with the pin-containing face of each die section abutting the recess-containing face of the other die section so that the pins are inserted into the recesses to hold the die sections in alignment. A die tool is then clamped around the die surface, so that the die can be rotated over the damaged rod section to repair the threads.
Abstract: There is provided a tool for repair of damaged threads of screws, including a body (2) having a projecting portion (4) for accommodating a screw to be repaired and having two recessed major surfaces; a cutting blade (6), having a rear end hingedly articulated to the body (2), and a front end in the shape of a cutting face (46) substantially fitting the type of thread to be repaired; a guide blade (7) having a rear end hingedly articulated to the body (2), and a front end substantially fitting the type of thread to be repaired, the guide blade projecting beyond the cutting face of the cutting blade, and; means (10, 12, 14) to alter the distance between the front ends and the projecting body portion (4) to accommodate screws of different diameters.
Abstract: A pivoting split thread chasing die for rethreading and cleaning damaged or inhibited studs or bolts; and a method of manufacturing the die. The identical main body halves of the pivoting split die, when assembled together with an assembly pin form a pivoting split die with opposing front and rear faces and a hexagonal outside periphery. Threads are formed on the inside periphery of the pivoting split die allowing for engagement with the threads of a stud or bolt. One or more material reliefs are formed on the inside periphery of the pivoting split die to enhance the cleaning and rethreading ability of the pivoting split die threads. These reliefs also serve as points for which debris can escape while performing a rethreading procedure. To rethread or clean a damaged or inhibited bolt or stud, apply an appropriate lubricant to the area to be rethreaded or cleaned.
