Abstract: A fastener includes a t-nut having a barrel and a flange. The flange includes an opening which leads to a threaded barrel. The threaded barrel extends from the opening in the flange to a distal end portion thereof. An end cap has an annular recess on a first side thereof and has a raised annular ridge on a second side thereof. The raised annular ridge of the end cap is affixed to the flange of the t-nut by welding the end cap to the flange. Dirt, water and moisture cannot enter the barrel because the end cap is sealed to the flange. Additionally, the barrel may be relatively short as it is fully threaded prior to the affixation of the end cap to the flange.
Abstract: A manufacturing method of weld nut made of stainless steel plate capable of manufacturing a weld nut of a small size generally known as a micro-screw of thin type and nominal thread diameter of about M1.6 easily by blanking and processing a stainless steel plate, and a blanking punch to be used in this manufacturing method. The manufacturing method of weld nut made of stainless steel plate includes a step of blanking and processing a tap drill hole 22 in a stainless steel plate material 20 having a thickness nearly equal to the height of the nut, a step of forming a nut main body 23 by blanking a nut outer shape in the material 20 around the tap drill hole 22, and simultaneously forming a plurality of weld protrusions 24 in the outer circumference of the bottom of the nut main body 23, and a step of processing female threads 25 in the inner circumference of the tap drill hole 22 of the nut main body 23.
Abstract: A method of forming a female fastener including rolling a body portion strip having a midportion and flange portions on opposed sides of the midportion, piercing spaced openings through the midportion, cutting the strip to length between the openings, cold forming a separate generally cylindrical pilot portion having a length greater than the width of the midportion and a diameter greater than the opening through the midportion, preferably including radial splines, and press fitting the pilot portion through the opening in the midportion. The self-attaching female fastener thus includes a rectangular body portion and a generally cylindrical pilot portion having an end face spaced above a plane of the midportion and may be formed of a harder metal than the body portion.
