    Abstract: A method of custom fitting a golf club or like implements having a shaft and a club head at a lower end thereof. The method utilizes the centerline of the shaft to determine the proper lie angle and true playing length for the shaft. A pointing device is attached to the shaft such that a projected point thereof is aligned with the centerline of the shaft to extend the centerline to the sole of the club head. The club head is placed on a universal setup mat with the club face aligned with the baseline thereof and the projected point on a target line where the sweet spot of the club head should hit a ball. A lie angle protractor on the mat is folded upward so the lie angle can be read from the protractor. The method also determines the proper grip size for the handle of the shaft.

    Abstract: An arm structure comprises a first arm and a second arm. The first arm is attached to a base and extends generally upwardly therefrom, while being pivotable about an axis perpendicular to its elongated axis. The second arm extends horizontally outwardly from the first arm. A height of a distal end of the second arm above the base is adjustable. The arm structure is configured such that when the second arm is struck by a swinging golf club, the second arm automatically returns generally to the position relative to the base which it had immediately prior to being struck.In one embodiment, a resilient sleeve extends outwardly from a distal end of the second leg. In another embodiment, opposing first and second sleeves are provided at a juncture of the first and second legs. The second sleeve has an elliptically shaped surface adjacent an elliptically shaped surface of the first sleeve.

    Abstract: A golf swing training device that includes a guide arm supported by a support body, preferably a stake. The stake maintains the relative position of the guide arm when the device is in use. In the preferred embodiment and at its connecting end, the guide arm includes a connecting cavity extending vertically therethrough. When in use, the stake is inserted through the connecting cavity thereby frictionally retaining and maintaining the guide arm thereon. Also when in use, the guide arm extends directly over the golf ball and defines a golf swing area through which a proper golf swing may pass. At its focus end, the guide arm is narrower than the golf ball to avoid distracting the golfer's attention from the golf ball. The guide arm extends from the golf ball in a direction substantially perpendicular to the golf swing. When not in use, the support body, or stake, may be stored in a storage cavity within the guide arm.

    Abstract: A golf practice turf simulating mat which has a raised support frame (22) with a bottom panel (36) and one end open. A mat tray (38) is located within the frame and includes a set of casters (40) that roll on descending ramps (28) and (30) that are attached to the frame. When a golf ball (26) is hit from the mat, the combined mat and tray deflect downwardly, the mat slides forward partially off of the tray and the tray rolls down the ramps descending below the top level of the frame. A rebound retraction system and mat return apparatus return the mat and tray to their original position. A second embodiment replaces the casters with sheaves (82) mounted on axles (84) penetrating inclined slots (80) in the frame for the downward and forward directional orientation of the tray within the frame.

    Abstract: A golf swing training apparatus has a flat base for supporting a tee. A target line is marked on the base, through the tee location. To guide the correct swing of a driver, a foam block is positioned on the base on the side of the target line opposite the golfer. The block normally converges towards the target line on the back side of the tee to guide the club head along an inside out trajectory as it approaches the ball. To accommodate the proper backswing, which should follow an inside out trajectory, the guide block is pivotally mounted to pivot about an upright axis to one side of the tee on the base and is resiliently biased to its normal position so that the backswing will swing the guide block out of the way during the backswing.
