  • Publication number: 20040157672
Abstract: A cushion for a billiard table is disclosed. The cushion includes an extruded member having a substantially triangular or L-shaped cross-section and a layer of tape on one surface thereof for affixing the cushion to a billiard table. Also disclosed is an improved cue for billiards wherein a substantial portion of the weight of the cue is disposed in a distal portion of the cue located near the tip of the cue, which is used to strike a ball. The cue is preferably modular to allow substitution of various portions of the cue to permit it to be customized to a specific player. Also disclosed is a device for metering the speed of the surface of a billiard table. Also disclosed is a quick-change tip for a cue which includes an elastomeric material that is sized to snugly fit over the distal end of a cue to releasably secure the quick-change tip to the cue.

  • Patent number: 5482268
Abstract: A bumper for a table game includes a rigid form defining a generally horizontal upper surface and a vertically extending inner surface depending from the form upper surface. A first plastic cover of a first rigidity is disposed on an outer marginal portion of the form upper surface and a second plastic cover of a second rigidity has a first portion disposed on an inner marginal portion of the form upper surface and a second portion disposed on the form inner surface. A plastic cushion of a third rigidity is disposed on the second portion of the second plastic cover. The second rigidity is greater than the third rigidity, and the second plastic cover and the cushion (and optionally the first plastic cover) are of integral, one-piece, unitary construction formed in a single co-extrusion operation.

  • Patent number: 5346209
Abstract: A system is provided for covering the horizontal playing surface of a pool table and the elongate rail elements mounted along the edge of the pool table. A cloth cover is wrapped about an inside cushioned edge of the rail element. An upper groove is formed longitudinally in an upper surface of the rail element for receiving an upper section of the rail cover and a first spline is received in a relatively tight fit in the upper groove to hold the upper section of the rail cover therein. A lower groove is formed longitudinally in a bottom surface of the rail element and an elongate channel member is received by and attached within the lower groove for receiving a lower section of the rail cover. A second spline is received in a relatively tight fit in the channel member to hold the lower section of the rail cover therein. A cloth cover extends across the playing surface of the pool table and includes a side portion that hangs over an edge of the playing surface.

  • Patent number: 3950487
Abstract: A process in which copper, nickel, cobalt and molybdenum are recovered by leaching comminuted raw manganese nodules with an aqueous ammoniacal leach solution containing cuprous ions. An improvement is disclosed in which the metal values are extracted directly from the leach slurry with an organic extractant. To accomplish such extraction the amount by weight of solids in the slurry is maintained at less than 20 percent, the pH of the slurry is lowered to 9.5, the volumes of slurry and organic are maintained at a ratio so that the organic is the continuous phase and the organic and slurry are mixed with gentle agitation.
