Plural Striking Faces Patents (Class 473/325)
  • Patent number: 6296574
Abstract: An apparatus allows a golfer to improve his or her swing. A striking pin is mounted on a club head using a rigid bracket. The golfer swings so as to strike a golf ball with an end surface of the striking pin. Progressively smaller striking pin end surface areas may be used. After practicing using the striking pin, a golfer removes the striking pin and continues with normal play.

  • Patent number: 6183379
Abstract: A golf putter including a head having a face, a shaft and a grip. The face comprises a centered first face, a second face formed on one side of the first face and inclined inwardly, and a third face formed on the other side of the first face and inclined inwardly. A plurality of friction protrusions are formed on the surface of the first face for improving the contact resistance. A plurality of spin protrusions are formed in the shape of steps on the surface of the second and third faces, respectively, so that a golf ball collided therewith rotates inwardly. Therefore, under any topographical condition, that is, a relatively flat green or an inclined green, the golfer can putt the ball directly into the hole without having to consider the curvature of the golf ball to the right or left side, thereby improving the accuracy of the putting operation.

  • Patent number: 5976025
Abstract: A golf putter includes a putter head that is equipped with three ball-striking surfaces, such that the putter can be used by a right-handed golfer or a left-handed golfer, employing either a conventional putting stance perpendicular to the ball roll path or a non-conventional putting stance facing the ball target. The club head is connected to the shaft at a center location coinciding with the head center of gravity. Also, the upper surface of the putter has a central cavity and two opposing rails that cause the putter weight to be concentrated at the perimeter of the head, thus tending to minimize the effect of mishits on ball travel accuracy on all three ball striking positions. The shaft to head connection is aligned with the ball roll in all ball striking positions.

  • Patent number: 5857920
Abstract: A golf club of the type for putting and driving a golf ball. The golf club has a reflective surface which is positionable to direct toward a golfer's eye an alignment image including an image of the ball and the target into which the ball is directed so as to aid the golfer in positioning the head of the golf club relative to the ball. The reflective surface is removable from the head so as to be stowed when not in use. The golf club also includes a leveling device in the head of the club to indicate to the golfer when the head is aligned horizontally. The golf club further includes a first striking surface with a tilted striking surface portion for imparting spin to the golf ball, and a second striking surface opposite the first for directing the ball in an upward trajectory. The tilted striking surface may include a flat central portion and an adjacent flat end portion, both of which contact the golf ball.

  • Patent number: 5848940
Abstract: A playground golf course with an artificial turf, the greens of which are formed by disposing a thin resilient urethane foam layer below the artificial turf so as to reduce golf ball bounce and hence roll on the artificial turf. Greens are formed by disposing a polyethylene buffer below the thin layer and disposing a green boundary edge member composed of an artificial turf belt member around the artificial turf. Greens are also formed by tensioning predetermined portions in the vicinity of the periphery of the artificial turf with springs. The playground golf course is formed by disposing a plurality of greens formed in such a manner in an existing athletic facility. The playground golf course is composed of the greens, a golf club with two club heads formed at both ends of a shaft, a golf ball with reduced flight characteristics, and a golf tee that allows players to easily hit golf balls.

  • Patent number: 5700206
Abstract: A golf putter includes a handle having a lower end to which a head is fixed. The head has a left side face and a right side face. The left and right side faces are symmetrical to each other and may both be used to putt a golf ball. The head further has a front face which may also be used to putt the golf ball as the player stands facing the target hole and spaces his or her legs on both sides of the ball. The putter is then swung under the crotch and between the legs of the player as a pendulum to putt the ball with the front face thereof which is substantially normal to the horizontal as it gets into contact with the ball. The handle of the putter is shortened as compared to the conventional putter to facilitate the swinging operation.

  • Patent number: 5630766
Abstract: A golf putter has an elongated shaft, a neck, and a club head. The neck extends between the shaft and the club head. The club head has a striking face and a rear wall opposite the striking face, a top surface and a sole surface opposite the top surface. The top surface of the club head is oversized and in shape of a parallelogram. The breadth of the club head being at least 3.0 inches, preferably between 3.0 and 4.5 inches. The longitudinal axis of the shaft and the striking face of the club head is coplanar. In a preferred embodiment the shaft longitudinal axis is sub-perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the striking face of the club head. In one embodiment the sole surface of the club head is sloped. In a preferred embodiment the sole surface has two cavities separated by a strut extending from the striking face of the club head to the rear wall.

  • Patent number: 5624329
Abstract: A matched pair of golf clubs, designed for putting and chipping usage, which have identical heads with identical shafts and grips except that one head has a striking face with the loft of a putter and the other head has a striking face with the loft of a chipper, the said clubs being otherwise identical in weight, length, balance and feel. Preferably each head has a striking face with the loft of a putter and a reverse striking face with the loft of a chipper, with one club being a right handed putter and a left handed chipper and the other club being right handed chipper and a left handed putter. Chipping and putting with these clubs, using the clubs in sequence and in the manner of a putter, tends to improve the golfer's confidence and the chances of finishing a hole with fewer strokes than might otherwise be the case.

  • Patent number: 5601500
Abstract: A golf club head includes a body having a central plane, and a front planar face for striking a golf ball. The front planar face is at a negative angle in the range of 4.degree. to 8.degree. to the central plane so that a bottom edge of the front planar face is closer to the central plane than is a top edge of the front planar face. The center of gravity of the head is substantially aligned with the point on the front planar face which is the point of impact of a golf ball. The golf club head further includes attachment means for attaching a shaft to a top portion of the body parallel to the central plane.

  • Patent number: 5584769
Abstract: A two-faced golf club for right-handed or left-handed golfers having a vertical shaft and putter blade with a top surface, a bottom surface, a putting face, a chipping face, and a front surface. The top surface and the putting face meet at an angle of about ninety degrees and the top surface and the chipping face meet at an angle of at least one hundred and thirty degrees relative to the vertical shaft. The vertical shaft meets the blade at a center point on the top surface of the putter blade allowing versatility for both right-handed and left-handed golfers. The bottom surfaces of the golf club are preferably rounded to prevent "stubbing" with the ground during play.
