Plural Grooves Patents (Class 473/331)
  • Patent number: 5618239
Abstract: A groove configuration for a putter type golf club head formed of a series of grooves. Each groove has a first surface disposed at an angle no greater than 90 degrees to the ball striking face and a second surface disposed at a lesser angle to the ball striking face. The outermost edges of the groove surfaces intersect in a saw-tooth configuration to provide a gripping area which imparts spin to a golf ball when it is struck by the putter type golf club.

  • Patent number: 5611742
Abstract: An wood-type golf club head having plural cavities formed in a back surface of a head body. A back surface 1A of a metallic head body 1 is formed with plural cavities 5, opposite to a face 4 of the head body 1. The cavities 5 are formed by forging, thus generating even and fine metallic tissues and grain flow. Accordingly, the toughness and durability of the material can be enhanced, so that face 4 can be made thinner to a 1.0 to 3.5 mm thickness for realizing an optional weight distribution. As a result, a larger sweet area can be realized without damaging a strength of head.

  • Patent number: 5591092
Abstract: An iron golf club set comprising a plurality of clubs with varying lofts and groove spacings, in which the groove spacing of each club is equal to or greater than the groove spacing for the next club in the set with less club loft and there are at least two different groove spacings within the set.

  • Patent number: 5538246
Abstract: The invention relates to a golf club by which a soft ball hitting feeling can be obtained while the excellent orientation of a ball peculiar to a hollow metallic head is maintained. A shaft is inserted into a hosel attaching section of a hollow metallic head through a hosel. The head is made of magnesium alloy or aluminum alloy, and the shaft is made of carbon fiber reinforced resin. The hosel is made of synthetic resin, the rigidity of which is lower than that of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5531439
Abstract: A putter for imparting rotation to a golf ball during putting. The inventive device includes a club handle with a sole plate attached to a lower end thereof. A face plate projects from a forward edge of the sole plate and is oriented at an orthogonal angle relative thereto. A frictional insert is mounted within a slot of the face plate and operates to frictionally engage a golf ball to impart a rotation to the ball during impact.

  • Patent number: 5524890
Abstract: A golf club is disclosed herein having aerodynamic characteristics reducing drag resistance to maintain maximum head speed which includes a head having a front face with a top surface and an undersurface rearwardly sloping together to define a tapered back face. The sides of the head slope in convergence from the top surface to the undersurface. A pair of open-ended arcuate passageways are provided in the head substantially in parallel with a round opening at the front face and terminating in an oval exit at the back face. The radius of the arcuate passageways lies on the radius of the golfer's swing and a pointer is located on the top surface adjacent the front face to indicate alignment with sweet spot location on the front face. The undersurface includes a pair of ridges defining a central groove and opposite side grooves with terminations at the oval exits of the passageways.
