The metal back body and the metal face body have non-planar, inter-fitting surfaces facing one another without contact across a gap defined by the inter-fitting surfaces. The golf putter head further includes a vibration dampening intermediate body filling the gap to isolate the metal face body from the metal back body. Other embodiments of golf putters and golf putter heads are further disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2011Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Product Insight, Inc.Inventors: Bryan R. Hotaling, James R. Varney

Publication number: 20130225308Abstract: Golf clubs and golf club heads, such as putter heads, may include a putter body and an insert forming a ball striking face and engaged with the putter body. Portions of the insert may be formed of a metal material, while portions of the insert may be formed of a polymer material. The insert may include a base portion having grooves or openings formed therein. This base may be joined with another material (such as a polymer backing material) to form the insert, wherein the backing material at least partially fills the grooves or openings. In some arrangements, the backing material of the insert may be visible at the top and/or bottom surfaces of the putter structures. Methods for making such putter devices are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2013Publication date: August 29, 2013Applicant: Nike, Inc.Inventor: Nike, Inc.

Patent number: 8517852Abstract: A golf club putter having an alignment pattern is disclosed herein. The alignment pattern has first and second long lines that approach each other as they extend from an aft region of the putter to a front region of the putter and, when the putter is properly aligned with a golf ball, create an optical illusion of convergence of said lines at or near a center of the golf ball without actually intersecting.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2013Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Callaway Golf CompanyInventors: Thomas R. Publication number: 20130210537Abstract: A golf putter head (10) having an under surface (14) for contacting the ground and a ball-striking face. The under surface comprises a setting surface (26), operable to facilitate setting of the putter in the most optimum position on the ground prior to putting a golf ball, and a first lateral surface (28) and a second lateral surface (30), the setting surface being disposed adjacent and between the first and second lateral surfaces, wherein at least one of the first and second lateral surfaces are disposed at an angle relative to the setting surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2011Publication date: August 15, 2013Inventors: Roy Arthur Ainscough, Yvonne Ainscough

Patent number: 8506422Abstract: This utility model refers to a golf putter that, contrary to a head with a straight and plain face, has a circular, plain, vertical, smooth and graded face. With a common putter, a player aligns himself with the line of putt. However, with the use of a circular and plain face, a player aligns himself with the hole. The putter's head indicates the line of putt. This being, a player's stroke is always perpendicular to the ball's axis and in direction of the line of putt's angle. With a circular and plain face, the head is positioned and, thus, the angle is no longer 0°. Rather, it takes on a specific degree reflecting the chosen line of putt. The angle only changes through repositioning the putter. This utility model is applicable in the manufacturing of Putters.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2007Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Inventor: José Manuel Silvestre Monteiro

Patent number: 8506415Abstract: Putter heads and putters include one or more of: (a) a main putter body portion including a first arm and a second arm; (b) a first polymeric and/or damping element engaged with the first arm; and (c) a second polymeric and/or damping element engaged with the second arm. The putter heads further may include polymeric material within the putter head structure and exposed at a central ball striking portion of the ball striking face, e.g., in elongated openings provided in the ball striking face. Grooves may be provided in the material of the ball striking face and/or in the exposed polymeric material to affect the ball launch. The putter heads may have various additional features or structures, e.g., relating to weighting features, alignment aid features, putter head constructions or parts, polymeric material exposure features, groove features, etc.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2010Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Nike, Inc.Inventor: David N. Patent number: RE44598Abstract: The instant invention provides a putter for use by a golfer in playing golf. The putter includes: a shaft long enough to rest against the abdomen; a head of greater than conventional mass fixed to the first end of the putter; and, a handle fixed to the second end of the putter. The handle further includes: an upper hand grip; a lower hand grip substantially length to rest against the abdomen navel dimensionally spaced from the upper hand grip; and, a counterweight positioned within the handle substantially near the upper hand grip, for providing the putter with a conventional center of gravity. The putter is designed for maximizing the sweet spot of the head while enabling the golfer to putt a golf ball by pivoting the putter substantially only at a point located at about the upper hand grip, from an otherwise conventional crouched stance.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2003Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Inventor: Robert P.
