  • Patent number: 10852110
Abstract: A toy dart includes a deformable cap that safely impacts a target. The cap includes two layers of openings that provide spaces that allow the cap to deform. The lower layer, having two openings, is supported by exterior posts and an interior wall between the two openings. The upper layer, having two openings, is supported by exterior posts and an interior wall that is laterally offset from the interior wall of the lower layer. The upper and lower layers are separated vertically by a substantially flat divider. The upper layer is more rigid than the lower layer such that the lower layer of the cap deforms more than the upper layer of the cap upon initial impact with the target.

  • Patent number: 10184992
Abstract: A rotation speed measuring system includes a magnetic sensor, an acceleration sensor, an end detecting unit, and a calculating unit. The magnetic sensor measures earth magnetism in at least one axis direction. The acceleration sensor measures acceleration in at least one axis direction. The end detecting unit detects a time point of a switch at which an acceleration variation is switched to a large-variation state after a small-variation state, wherein the small-variation state corresponds to a state in which the acceleration variation is equal to or below a predetermined first threshold value and the large-variation state corresponds to a state in which the acceleration variation is equal to or above a predetermined second threshold value. The calculating unit calculates the rotation speed of the ball moving in midair by analyzing a frequency of measurement data on the earth magnetism acquired by the magnetic sensor until the end time point.

  • Patent number: 9750986
Abstract: A softball pitching aid enables one to practice throwing rise balls and drop balls at slower speeds than that required by a standard softball. It comprises a ball with opposing convex surfaces at either end of and disposed about a central axis and a plurality of symmetrical slots protruding into its outer surface and disposed circumferentially along the central axis. The ball is constructed of polyurethane foam or other lightweight material. When thrown correctly, the slots interact with ambient air to cause the ball to rise or drop. The slots and lightweight material allow the ball to rise or drop at lower speeds. The slots further provide guidance for gripping the ball and leverage for increasing its spin rate during flight. The ball further comprises a two-tone coloring scheme that, in conjunction with the symmetrical slots, provides instant visual feedback during flight as to whether it was thrown correctly.

Abstract: A projectile is provided for use in a non-lethal weapon system. The projectile includes a first body with a longitudinal axis. The projectile having kinetic energy is launched substantially along the longitudinal axis in the direction of a target. The projectile preferably includes a second body with the same longitudinal axis and a hollow. A portion of the first body fits marginally within the hollow. The elastic mechanism includes an elastic deformation of the first body and/or second body while the first body is forced into the hollow during the impact.

Abstract: A dehydrated, pulp-based projectile is described. The projectile is pulp material that is molded and dehydrated into a projectile shape to form the dehydrated, pulp-based projectile. In operation, the pulp-based projectile can be positioned within the bullet chamber (e.g., gun clip) of a toy gun and then rehydrated. For example, the toy gun or bullet chamber can be dipped in water, which would cause the projectile to absorb the water and soften. An advantage to being pulp based is that the projectile is more solid than foam and, as such, generally shoots straighter and further than foam However, when rehydrated, the projectile has the propensity to stick to its target as it becomes pliable and sticky through rehydration.

Abstract: System and method for playing game based on coin toss, may utilize a system and method for graphically displaying coin toss using sensors to detect physical movement of coin or instrumented coin, communicate sensor-derived data to remote graphical display system, display virtual coin that represents movement and orientation of tossed coin. May utilize sensor, communication, display, game systems and optional message gateway. Sensor system and part of wireless communication system may be external or embedded in coin. Graphical coin movement and orientation may mimic the actual coin being tossed or may be represented as any avatar or other graphical object that represents the coin including celebrity pictures, videos, faces, logos or any other object that may represent a “head” or “tail”. May generate a random number that allows viewers to win a prize. Viewers may guess result of coin toss before toss and win prize if they guess the result correctly.

Abstract: Ball structures, such as basketballs, are formed to include regions with different and distinct tactile characteristics or “feel.” Such ball structures may include a cover member divided into plural panels that are separated by channels. The exterior surface of one or more of these panels may include regions having different textures. One region, which extends over a central portion of the panel, includes raised elements, such as raised ribs or other structures, that may extend at least 0.5 mm outward from a base surface of the cover member.

Abstract: A simulated gun launches a retrievable projectile in the form of a cylinder containing a compressible spring. The spring is compressed by inserting the barrel of the gun into the bore of the cylinder. A tab on the end of the cylinder rides in a helical groove on the surface of the barrel to cause the projectile to rotate about the axis of the barrel as the projectile is launched.

Abstract: The present device is a launcher for a projectile, comprising an enclosure that is adapted to be held by a human hand. The enclosure comprises a barrel aperture, a pump aperture, and a trigger aperture. The launcher further comprises a pump assembly that comprises a pump piston traversing the pump aperture. The pump piston is configured to be actuated by a user and can be reciprocated in and out of a pump cylinder. The launcher comprises a compression chamber in fluid communication with the piston cylinder through a check valve that only allows air to pass from within the piston cylinder into the compression chamber. The launcher comprises a trigger that opens the compression chamber and sends compressed air into a barrel that can have a projectile stored therein. The trigger is configured to be manually operated by a user. The barrel is in fluid communication with the compression chamber through a trigger valve.

  • Patent number: 7803033
Abstract: A pop action toy assembly having an elastomeric body that is defined primarily by a first surface and a second surface. The elastomeric body is selectively positionable between a normal orientation, where the first surface faces outwardly, and an inverted orientation, where the second surface faces outwardly. An activator assembly having an impact disc and a knob extends through the elastomeric body at its apex. The impact disc strikes the ground when the toy assembly pops from an inverted orientation back into its normal orientation. The knob is used to grasp, spin and throw the toy assembly when inverted. A plurality of tabs symmetrically protrude from the base rim of the elastomeric body. If the toy assembly is inverted and strikes the ground, the protruding tabs act to concentrate the force of the impact and cause the toy assembly to pop back into its normal orientation.
