Patent number: 8012049Abstract: A projectile device having a suction cup head made of a novel foam. The foam used in the suction cup head has an open cell density within the foam of between five percent and twenty percent. The suction cup head has a face surface of a first diameter. A shallow concavity is formed in the face surface. The concavity has nearly the same diameter as the face surface, however, the depth of the concavity is no more than one-tenth of that diameter. Furthermore, the face surface of the suction cup head is proportionally large, being at least twenty-five percent as wide as the entire projectile device is long. The combination of a large suction cup head, a shallow concavity and a soft, semiporous foam enables the suction cup head to adhere to both smooth surfaces and rough surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2008Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Inventor: Steve Walterscheid

Patent number: 7914405Abstract: The toy assembly is a ball or similar object that can be temporarily compressed into a disc-shaped object. A short time after compression, the toy pops back into its original ball-like shape. The toy assembly has a body that can be selectively configured between an expanded shape and a compressed shape. The body is naturally biased into its expanded shape. A binding hole is defined on a first side of the body. A nub extends inwardly from the body opposite the binding hole. The nub passes into the binding hole with a friction fit when the body is in its compressed shape. The friction fit creates a friction force that temporarily counteracts the natural bias of the body. After a predetermined period of time, the friction fit fails and the body of the toy pops back into its original shape.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2009Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Inventors: Keith Scheffler, Simeon E. Publication number: 20090253541Abstract: This application relates to a retractable device that takes the retractable leash concept and adapts it to a projectile. The tethered projectile can be advanced by the user by kicking, throwing, hitting, or any other method of advancing a projectile. When the user initially advances the projectile, for example by throwing, the momentum of the projectile overcomes the spring force and the projectile advances a certain distance relative to the force applied to it. Once the projectile' s momentum diminishes to a level below the spring force, the spring causes the spool to reverse direction and the slack is taken up and the projectile is retrieved.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2007Publication date: October 8, 2009Inventor: Jean-Louis Darville

Patent number: 7364521Abstract: The present invention relates to a sucker and an adhesion arrow having the same. More particularly, the present invention provides a sucker that can be attached, instead of a needle, to an arrow for a toy arrow shooter. The sucker of the present invention is formed with an annular projection on an adhesion surface of the sucker. Thus, even when the sucker collides against a target at a high speed, the sucker can be prevented from bouncing back from the target due to a repulsive force generated from the collision and thus securely adhere to the target. Further, even though the sucker of the present invention flies and collides against the target at a certain angle, the sucker can easily adhere to the target. Further, the sucker is made of a soft material so that a repulsive force can be smaller than an adhesion force when the sucker collides against the target.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2003Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Inventor: Tae-Seong Yang

Patent number: 6896577Abstract: A toy assembly and its method of manufacture. The toy assembly is a spherical object that can be temporarily compressed into a disc. A short time after compression, the toy pops back into its original ball-like shape. The toy assembly has arcuate sections that join form a generally spherical body. The arcuate sections are symmetrically disposed around a central axis. The spherical body is bisected by an imaginary equatorial plane that is perpendicular to the central axis. A leaf spring is provided behind each of the arcuate sections that bias the arcuate sections into a spherical shape. A connector mechanism is provided that temporarily connect opposite sides of the spherical body when the spherical body is compressed. The leaf springs provide a spring bias that resists any compression and causes the arcuate sections to return to a spherical shape when the connector mechanism release.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2004Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Inventor: Jung Chung Feng

Patent number: 6863588Abstract: A toy assembly and its method of manufacture. The toy assembly is a spherical object that can be temporarily compressed into a disc. A short time after compression, the toy pops back into its original ball-like shape. The toy assembly has shell sections that join along at least one joint line to form a generally spherical body. The shell sections are symmetrically disposed around a central axis. The spherical body is bisected by an imaginary equatorial plane that is perpendicular to the central axis. The joint lines between shell sections exist in meridian planes that are perpendicular to the equatorial plane. A connector mechanism is provided that temporarily connect opposite sides of the shell when the shell is compressed. The shell sections provide a spring bias that resists any compression and causes the shell sections to return to a spherical shape when the connector mechanism release.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Inventor: Kwong Wing Chu

Patent number: 5797815Abstract: A toy object has an articulated shell structure which can change from a three-dimensional, polyhedral shape into a flattened shape. A biasing device applies force to the shell, that force tending to urge the shell structure into the three-dimensional, polyhedral shape. A holding device holds the shell structure in the flattened shape in opposition to the force applied by the biasing device, and a regulator regulates the period of time for which the holding device holds the shell structure in its flattened shape.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1997Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignee: Goldman Toy Group, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 5603503Abstract: A transparent disk rotates in relation to a fixed surface having indicia on it in response to weighted darts adhered to a surface on the disk. The indicia on the fixed surface is observable through the transparent disk. A method of resolving the position of the rotatable disk in relation to the fixed disk includes adhering in tie sequence a plurality of such weighted darts, each causing the disk to rotate in turn about its center of rotation and to change the position of previously adhered darts in relation to the indicia on the fixed surface. Where the indicia comprises a pattern of marked areas each having scoring associated with it, a scoring for the corresponding darts can be calculated in accordance with the position of each dart in relation to the indicia as seen through the transparent disk surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1994Date of Patent: February 18, 1997Inventor: Paul Lapidus
