Plural Power Paths To Planetary Gearing Patents (Class 475/171)
  • Patent number: 11524576
Abstract: A speed reduction assembly for an electric vehicle includes an electric machine configured to operate as a motor and as a generator. The electric machine includes an output shaft that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis at an output speed. The assembly also includes an output member coupled to the output shaft and rotatable about the longitudinal axis at a reduced speed. In addition, the assembly includes a pericyclic apparatus coupled to the output shaft and the output member to reduce the output speed of the output shaft to the reduced speed of the output member. A vehicle may include the speed reduction assembly in certain configurations. The vehicle includes a battery module and the electric machine is in electrical communication with the battery module to recharge the battery module when the electric machine operates as the generator.

  • Patent number: 8734283
Abstract: When a bearing includes outer and inner rings and the outer ring is fitted to the inner periphery of an input member, which defines a center hole, with a clearance and the inner ring is fitted to an eccentric portion with a clearance, a size between a second axis and a third axis is set to a size that is smaller than or equal to half of a size obtained by adding a diameter difference between an outside diameter of the bearing and an inside diameter of the input member, which defines the center hole, a diameter difference between an inside diameter of the bearing and an outside diameter of the eccentric portion and an operating clearance of the bearing in a state where the input member has been moved to contact the housing on a line perpendicular to the second axis and a fourth axis.

  • Patent number: 7147582
Abstract: It is an object to obtain a power transmission device capable of allowing conflicting needs to coexist rationally and effectively in accordance with a driving situation. As powertransmitting mechanisms of a power transmission device, there are provided a plurality of characteristically-differentiated internally meshing planetary gear mechanisms, each having an external gear and an internal gear having external teeth and internal teeth the difference in the number of teeth between which is slight. In this structure, at least two of the internally meshing planetary gear mechanisms are disposed in parallel on a path of power transmission, and power transmission characteristics of the two mechanisms are designed to differ from each other.

  • Patent number: 6348021
Abstract: A continuously variable speed power transmission includes a rotatable input member, a rotatable output member including a plurality of rearwardly directed output face cams. A reaction control rotor selectively rotatable about the input axis includes a plurality of forwardly directed reaction face cams opposed to the output face cams. A pericyclic motion converter rotatably mounted for nutational motion about the input axis includes a plurality of load transmitting follower members simultaneously engageable with the output face cams and with the reaction face cams. A control mechanism selectively adjusts the rotational rate of the reaction control rotor relative to the input member such that relative rotation between the reaction control rotor and the input member results in both rotation and nutation of the pericyclic motion converter about the input axis resulting in a continuously variable change of ratio of the rotational speed of the output member relative to the input member.

  • Patent number: 5226859
Abstract: An oscillating rachet style continuously or infinitely variable transmission is disclosed herein, that is, one which, in its operation, relies on a plurality of different successive intermediate rotations that vary in speed and direction in accordance with their own respective oscillatory waveform, each waveform being out of phase with one another in a predetermined way. These intermediate rotations are used to convert the rotational input to a plurality of uni-direction output rotations, without the aid of any over-running clutches. These later outputs vary in speed in accordance with their own respective waveforms and are used to produce a modified rotational output.
