    Abstract: A multi-ratio transmission system is provided, including multiple planet gear sub-systems, at least two coupling assemblies, a setting element, a setting element controller, an annular gear, a cylindrical casing, a sprocket, and a central axle. The planet gear sub-systems are disposed coaxially in series along a first axis. Each of the planet gear sub-system includes a sun gear and at least one planet gear. Each coupling assembly transmits the rotation between every two adjacent planet gear sub-systems. The setting element optionally engages with the sun gear. The annular gear is installed onto a one-way clutch. The cylindrical casing encloses the planet gear sub-systems. The sprocket is installed onto the planet gear sub-systems through the one-way clutch. The central axle enables the hollowed tube of the setting element controller to rotate around the central axle.

Next, the method determines points of intersection where a respective fuel consumption curve for the first gear ratio intersects its corresponding fuel consumption curve for the second gear ratio. A decision curve is generated from the points of intersection.

    Abstract: A final drive for a multi-speed power transmission has freewheeler timed up and down forward power shifts utilizing two planetary gear sets connected between the transmission and differential. For low ratio a smaller diameter sun gear of a first gear set is driven through a freewheeler with the associated ring gear held for reaction so that the pinion carrier assembly drives the differential at a low ratio. For high ratio, a larger diameter sun gear of a second gear set is directly driven while a high-reverse clutch holds the associated ring gear for reaction. The pinion carrier assembly common to both gear sets drives the differential at a higher speed ratio as the freewheeler overruns on torque reversal. The ring gear of the second gear set of one embodiment has a path to ground through an additional freewheeler for coast control. The outer race of the low-ratio freewheeler has external teeth to park-lock the associated sun gear through a grounded parking pawl.

A second stator is provided at a pump side between the turbine and the pump. The second stator is connected to a housing though a second stator shaft having a one-way clutch for transmitting power in a direction reverse to the rotation direction of the pump. A clutch or brake for controlling rotation speed of the first stator shaft is provided in the course of the first stator shaft.
