  • Patent number: 10519920
Abstract: An automatic two-mode high reduction power transmission system. A power transmission system includes a first device that delivers a first input and receives a second output. A second device delivers a second input and receives a first output. A power transmission has two planetary gear sets and operates in a first mode at a first speed ratio, where the first input is received from the first device and in response, the first output is delivered to the second device. The power transmission operates in a second mode at a second speed ratio that is different than the first speed ratio, where the second input is received from the second device and in response, the second output is delivered to the first device. A pair of freewheel mechanisms automatically couple one of the first or second devices with the power transmission to provide the two modes.

Abstract: A hybrid electro-mechanical transmission connectable with multiple power sources for launching and propelling a vehicle includes an output member and a stationary member. The transmission also includes a first planetary gear set having a first, a second, and a third node and a compound planetary gear arrangement having a fourth, a fifth, a sixth, and a seventh node. The engine, the first motor/generator and the second motor/generator are each operatively connected with the first planetary gear set, and the output member and the second motor/generator are each operatively connected with the compound planetary gear arrangement. Thus configured, the transmission provides an under-drive gear for launching the vehicle, as well as a direct-drive gear and an over-drive gear for propelling the vehicle at higher speeds.

  • Patent number: 8382634
Abstract: A multi-stage transmission (1) having a housing (9), a drive shaft (AN), an output shaft (AB), four planetary gear sets (RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4) each having first, second and third elements, at least eight rotatable shafts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) and six shift elements comprising four clutches (K1, K2, K3, K4) and two brakes (B1, B2). Selective engagement of the clutches and brakes results in different transmission ratios between the drive shaft (AN) and the output shaft (AB) so that up to nine forward gears can be implemented. The multi-stage transmission is delimited by the connections of the individual elements to each other and exactly three of the six shift elements are engaged for each of the up to nine forward gears.

  • Patent number: 8262533
Abstract: The invention provides a transmission providing a gear ratio between an input shaft and an output shaft. The transmission comprises an annulus ring, a sun wheel being rotatable around a central axis of the transmission, a planet carrier being rotatable around the central axis of the transmission, and a set of planet wheels, each wheel comprising a plurality of wheel segments with different diameters, the planet wheels being fixed in rotational bearings of the planet carrier and being arranged to rotate epicyclically around the central axis. The annulus ring and the sun wheel each interacts with one of the wheel segments e.g. via meshing toothed gear wheels. The gear facilitates various interaction means at different locations in the gear, and thus facilitates a potentially less noisy, lighter, smaller or stronger gear by use of a low amount of components.
