Friction Clutch Patents (Class 475/315)
  • Patent number: 11940034
Abstract: A planetary mechanism has a stationary frame on which are supported a first gear with a central axis of rotation, a second gear and carrier. The second gear and the carrier are configured to rotate freely and endlessly about the central axis of rotation. Planetic shafts are supported on the carrier coaxially with respective planetic axes equally angularly distributed around the central axis of rotation. The planetic shafts are configured to undergo rotation freely and endlessly about the respective planetic axes. Third gears cooperate with the first gear and are connected to respective first ends of the planetic shafts. Fourth gears cooperate with the second gear and are connected to respective second ends of the planetic shafts. The first gear, the second gear, each of the third gears, and each of the fourth gears have a teeth number Z1, Z4, Z2 and Z3, respectively, satisfying the relation (Z1?Z2)*(Z4?Z3)>0.

  • Patent number: 11408501
Abstract: Disclosed is a support structure for a ring gear, which includes: a clutch drum coupled by spline fitting with the ring gear; and first and second snap rings mounted to a circumferential wall of the clutch drum and supporting the ring gear. The first snap ring is positioned so as not to overlap with the ring gear in a radial direction. The second snap ring is positioned so as to overlap with the ring gear in the radial direction. A length of the first snap ring in the radial direction is longer than a length of the second snap ring in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: 11022202
Abstract: A driving force transmission mechanism include a carrier, an input gear, first gears, second gears, an output gear, a clutch portion configured to integrate one of the input and output gears with the carrier or configured to disintegrate the one gear and the carrier, and an actuator configured to restrict rotation of the clutch. When the actuator does not restrict the rotation of the clutch portion, the input gear, the first gears, the second gears and the output gear are integrated with each other, and the output gear is rotated together with the input gear in a first direction. When the actuator restricts the rotation of the clutch portion, a rotational driving force is transmitted from the input gear to the output gear via the first gars and the second gears, and the output gear is rotated in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 7566287
Abstract: A clutch device for an automatic transmission, including a clutch drum supporting frictional coupling elements, a clutch piston disposed radially outwardly of the clutch drum, and a rotary speed sensor disposed radially outwardly of the clutch piston to detect a rotating speed of the clutch piston. The clutch piston has an inner spline for engagement with an outer spline of the clutch drum to prevent relative rotation between the clutch piston and the clutch drum, and further has a plurality of recesses formed in an outer circumferential surface thereof and corresponding to respective teeth of the inner spline, and a plurality of oil holes formed therethrough at an axial position of the clutch device at which the rotary speed sensor is located. The recesses and the oil holes are equally spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction of the clutch piston.

  • Patent number: 6830526
Abstract: A transmission is provided having a sun gear, ring gear and planet carrier mounted in a housing. A plurality of planet gears are rotatably mounted to the planet carrier. The planet carrier is connected to one of either an input shaft or an output shaft while the ring gear is connected to the other of either the input shaft or output shaft. A clutch engageably and disengageably couples the sun gear for rotation with one of the input or output shafts to which the planet carrier is coupled. A brake engageably and disengageably fixes the sun gear against rotation relative to the housing. A hydraulically engaged/spring disengaged non-rotating piston is mounted in the housing and is slidable in response to fluid pressure between an engaged position for engaging one of the clutch and the brake and a retracted position for disengaging the one of the clutch and the brake.

  • Patent number: 6824494
Abstract: Friction disks of a clutch are axially positioned and supported relative to the drum of the clutch, using a tapered snap ring. Furthermore, an engaging member coupled with a ring gear is axially positioned and supported by sandwiching between the tapered snap ring and another snap ring. Accordingly, the structure accommodates and supports receipt of hydraulic pressure, as well as thrust force of the ring gear.
