The intermediate gear assembly allows the motorcycle engine output shaft to be arranged in parallel with the torque converter input shaft wherein the motorcycle engine output shaft and the torque converter input shaft are on the same side of the motorcycle. The intermediate gear assembly includes a ring gear in meshing engagement with a plurality of planet gears, and a sun gear in meshing engagement with the planet gears. The ring gear is fixed for rotation with the intermediate input and the sun gear is fixed for rotation with the intermediate output.

  • Patent number: 7410442
Abstract: A transmission for a wind turbine includes a housing (20) in which two shafts (26, 28) rotate, each being supported on a locating bearing (50, 60) which transmits thrust loads to the housing as well as radial loads and on a nonlocating bearing (48, 58) which transmits only radial loads to the housing. The shafts carry helical gears (52, 52, 62) which induce thrust loads in the shafts when the shafts transmit torque. The locating bearings are unitized single row tapered roller bearings which are oriented to transmit thrust loads in the primary direction through their raceways (132, 138) and in the secondary direction through ribs (134, 144) at the ends of their rollers (146). The nonlocating bearings take the form of a single row cylindrical roller bearings which accommodate differential thermal expansion and contraction between the shafts and housing.

Abstract: A rack and pinion gear train actuator for a pintle valve. A motor shaft has a pinion gear that engages a large reduction gear having an integral hub gear. The hub gear is a planet gear for a ring gear segment that pivots on a shaft and includes a pinion gear segment that engages a linear rack. The rack is attached to a valve pintle shaft, causing the valve to be opened and closed in response to rotation of the motor shaft. The pintle shaft, return spring, rack, and gears are all assemblable by slip fit. The actuator has a high actuation force, a fast response time, and compact design by virtue of a rack and internal gearing. The stroke of the rack may be changed for use with pintle valves having differing strokes by varying the angle through which the motor operates.

  • Patent number: 7229380
Abstract: A power transmission device is capable of correctly adjusting relative positions of two shafts in a direction of rotation even when the shafts are rotationally driven, and comprises a hollow, outer shaft, to one end of which a drive gear is fixed, an inner shaft, to one end of which a carrier is fixed, and a planetary gear mechanism. The planetary gear mechanism comprises a sun gear, planetary gears supported on a carrier, and a ring gear having internal teeth and external teeth, the internal teeth engaging with the planetary gears. A first gear and a second gear on an input shaft, respectively, engage with outer teeth of the drive gear and the ring gear. When the sun gear is made stationary and the input shaft is rotationally driven, the outer shaft and the inner shaft are rotated with the same number of revolutions in the same direction. When the sun gear is rotated, a position of the inner shaft in the direction of rotation is adjusted relative to the outer shaft.

Abstract: Techniques for searching in asynchronous systems are disclosed. In one aspect, a plurality of codes, such as SSCs, are correlated with a received signal at a plurality of offsets to produce a code/slot energy corresponding to each code/slot boundary pair. Unique subsets of the code/slot energies are summed to produce code sequence energies, the maximum of which indicates a located code sequence and slot boundary. In another aspect, the correlation is performed by sub-correlating the received signal with a common sequence, and performing a Fast Hadamard Transform (FHT) on the results. In yet another aspect, one sub-correlator can be used to search a plurality of peaks simultaneously. Various other aspects of the invention are also presented.
