  • Publication number: 20130029814
Abstract: A portable exercise apparatus consists of several lightweight, separate components. The apparatus has a resilient, flexible, somewhat bouncy base member shaped as a half spheroid, having rounded lateral surfaces and a substantially flat bottom surface. A height adjustable support post member is connected to and extends up from the base member. It is removeably secured to the base member. A foot supporting member comprising laterally extending support arms is removeably attached to the upper end of the post member. The apparatus supports the feet and legs of the user, by maintaining the legs elevated at a selected height off the ground, when the user is lying on his or her back in a sit-up position. In this position, with legs supported, the user can do a variety of rotational and sit-up type exercises.

  • Patent number: 8287439
Abstract: A manually operated back stretching device may relieve compressive forces of the lower lumbar vertebrae and may safely stretch lower back muscles. The device may include a platform to support a user's lower legs. As the user moves a portion of the device with their arms towards their legs, the forward edge of the platform may rise up and tilt away from the user's torso, causing the user's hips to lift off the floor and stretching the user's back at the same time. As the user moves their arms back over their head, the user's back and legs may relax while the arms are pulled above the user's head. The result may be a back-and-forth dynamic rotational arching motion to repetitively raise the completely relaxed hips and tilt them forward to decompress the spine using appropriate longitudinal and torsion forces at the most pain causing compression points of the lower lumbar vertebrae.

Abstract: A foot pain relief device can advantageously provide multiple angles of inclination, directed pressure against the plantar fascia, as well as ease of manufacturing and assembly. A toe strap, which is fastened around the ankle and the toe(s), ensures that the toes are flexed up. This toe flexing tenses the plantar fascia of the foot. A ball strap can be threaded through a hole in a ball and then operatively coupled with the toe strap. When operatively coupled to the toe strap, the ball strap keeps the ball positioned on the bottom of the foot while allowing ball mobility. The mobility of the ball can provide directed pressure on at least one component of the plantar fascia. Notably, the simultaneous combination of tension to the plantar fascia and directed pressure to the component(s) of the plantar fascia can be particularly effective at relieving foot pain.

Abstract: To satisfy one or more of the foregoing objectives, embodiments of a spring collar are provided for removably securing a disc weight to the sleeve of a barbell. In one embodiment, the spring collar includes a resilient wire form having a permanent magnet mounted thereto. The spring collar includes a coiled body having a central aperture, and first and second radial arms extending from the coiled body. The first and second radial arms can be moved toward one another to increase the diameter of the central aperture and permit a user to slide the coiled body over the sleeve. The permanent magnet enables a user to removably secure the spring collar to a ferromagnetic surface when the spring collar is not in use.
