  • Patent number: 11944867
Abstract: A new kind of portable hangboard intended for finger strength exercises allows the user to adjust the angle of the hangboard and the depth of the finger slot to control the difficulty of the exercise. The main body of the hangboard hangs on a rope. The main body of the hangboard contains multiple slots that the rope can pass through to adjust the angle of the device. The finger slot contained in the main body has magnets at the deep end which allow one or more shims with built in magnets to be inserted to make the slot shallower. The hangboard offers greater portability and variety of exercises compared to other inventions of this class.

Abstract: An amusement attraction features a wall structure, a respective set of illuminable handholds distributed over a wall surface of at least one upright wall of the structure, a floor surface residing adjacent to the upright wall on a side thereof faced by the wall surface, and one or more detection devices operable to detect landing of a participant on the floor surface during attempted traversal of the wall surface. A controller is operable to illuminate the handholds in different colour-coded patterns. Each pattern includes illumination of “authorized” handholds in a first colour, illumination of “prohibited” handholds in a second colour, and illumination of “targeted” handholds in a third colour. In a game-play session, participants are tasked with grasping of the targeted handholds while traversing the wall structure, with penalties applied for detected landing of participants on the floor surface and gripping of prohibited handholds.

  • Patent number: 11547916
Abstract: Traditional climbing is being sought out by more indoor climbers, however the issue that has arisen is that the only way to learn the method is through trial and error in the outdoors on real rock. An indoor-traditional climbing device (I-TCD) makes it possible to learn how to climb Traditionally in a safe environment with hands on instruction. Provided herein is a cover/shield for an I-TCD that allows not only for the placement of multiple kinds of gear within the I-TCD body, but it allows the climber to fall on that gear placement safely to determine the quality of their gear placement, without the risk of falling upon the I-TCD body. Therefore, the cover/shield provides an angled feature to reduce direct impact injuries while increasing the opportunity for climbers who wish to learn how to climb traditionally.

Abstract: Crack climbing is being sought out by more indoor climbers, however the issue that has arisen is that indoor features are fixed; cannot be removed or changed, thus climbing the feature indoors quickly loses its value as a method of getting stronger, or improving one's ability to adapt to outdoor environments. Currently if one wishes to practice or train for Crack climbing, they take to easy natural rock routes outdoors or build training boards out of wood to simulate common hand placements under the duress of a climb. Abstract: Improvements in a transportable stepper are disclosed. The mini stepper has steps that remain horizontal through the entire stroke. The mini stepper uses parallel connected arms to maintain flat steps so a user steps in a natural position and maintain a balanced posture. The stepper has a step height adjustment that links the two pedals. The travel or highest position for the foot pads is adjustable to change the resistance or work-out intensity for the user by limiting the vertical travel for the foot pads and links the foot pads to ensure when one footpad is being pushed downward, the opposing footpad is being elevated. The resistance pistons are surrounded by an insulation tube that minimizes skin contact to hot pistons. The mini stepper has a display that links to an application for tracking/displaying exercise related information.

  • Patent number: 8408360
Abstract: A warning system for use with a climbing wall and an automatic belay apparatus for belaying a climber, the warning system providing a warning that a climber is not protected by the auto-belay apparatus. The warning system includes a sensor positioned to sense that a lower end of the climbing rope is secured to the climbing wall and the climber is not attached to the auto-belay system which indicates a dangerous situation, and a height sensor for sensing when the climber has reached a selected height on the climbing wall. A processor receives signals from the sensors and compares the signals to determine if the climber has reached the selected height with the lower end of the climbing wall still secured to the wall, and if so, then actuates a warning alarm.

  • Patent number: 8337368
Abstract: A floor system (20) includes a plurality of cushioning devices (22) attached to a lower side (40) of a wood floor (32). Each cushioning device (22) includes a spring (46) that may be attached at each of its ends to first and second caps (48, 50). The spring (46) includes longitudinally aligned regions (58, 60) interposed between the caps (48, 50). The region (58) exhibits a lower spring rate (64) than a spring rate (66) of the other region 60. In response to an imposed force, the first region (58) of spring (46) first compresses. When the imposed force is great enough, due to a user's weight, the second region (60) of spring (46) will then compress.

Abstract: A power ladder for exercising and fitness is disclosed. Embodiments of the power ladder are lightweight and compact, and fold for easy storage and transport. Embodiments include two flexible plastic side rails and a plurality of rungs connected to the side rails at intervals along the side rails. The rungs connect pivotally and slidably to the rails. The rungs are mounted on telescoping legs so that the rungs may be used in a first position adjacent the ground, in a second position above the ground, and in some embodiments, a third position, mounted higher above the ground than the second position. Using the ladder, persons can train for agility, flexibility and plyometrics, and can thus achieve excellent exercising while having fun. One or more persons or even a team may use the ladder. Larger teams may compete using one ladder or more than one of the ladders.

Abstract: A safety mat securement assembly for providing an open and a closed position for a climbing wall assembly using a safety mat. The safety mat securement assembly may utilize a plurality of security hand hold members each having latching means and a safety mat having a plurality of bottom securement members, top and side loop members. The security hand hold members may be used as hand holds on the climbing wall assembly and may have a locking structure. The hand holds may also have embedded securement structures to provide for the attachment of climbing related devices. The bottom securement members function to hold the safety mat to the bottom of a climbing wall assembly during both open and closed positions of the safety mat. The mat securement assembly is opened or unlocked by loosening the latching means, removing security mat top loop members from the hand hold, and placing the mats on the floor along the base of the climbing wall.

  • Patent number: 8147389
Abstract: An adjustable weight-loaded dip-chin machine. Dip bars and chin bars with means for vertical adjustment are mounted on columns, which in turn are mounted on a base. An arm is pivotally attached to the base, and weights can be added to an arm spindle attached to the arm. A belt is attached to the arm, and the weighted arm spindle resist upward exerciser motion when performing dips or chins. A pivot hook releasably engages the arm spindle in an elevated position for convenience and safety when commencing and ending a squat exercise series. Means are disclosed for adjusting the height of the pivot hook on a column, and for automatically disengaging the pivot hook from the arm spindle when exercise commences. A squat platform is sized to fit between foot platforms, which together form a stable standing area for the exerciser. Squat handles are height-adjustably mounted to the columns.
