Abstract: An access system for a temperature-controlled storage device includes a perimeter frame and least one display case door mounted within the perimeter frame. The perimeter frame and the at least one display case door are configured to move substantially vertically along a surface of the temperature-controlled storage device between a raised position and a lowered position. The at least one display case door is further configured to move substantially horizontally between an open position and a closed position when the perimeter frame is in the lowered position. The access system further includes a torsion spring and motor assembly coupled to the perimeter frame and configured to move the perimeter frame and the at least one display case door between the raised position and the lowered position.

Abstract: A door assembly for use in a building includes a glass door panel having an outer surface and an inner surface and a perimeter region. The door assembly includes at least one metallic hardware element bonded via a layer of cured adhesive to the inner surface of the door panel and at least partially along the perimeter region of the door panel. The layer of cured adhesive bonds the at least one metallic hardware element to the inner surface of the door panel without exposure of the metallic hardware element on the outer surface of the door panel. The door assembly may include a perimeter frame portion bonded to the inner surface of the door panel via another layer of cured adhesive. At least a portion of a door handle assembly may protrude through an aperture formed in the glass door panel.

Abstract: A system for collecting, transporting and preparing a fecal specimen for examination includes a container, a closure selectively secured over an open end of the container, and a sample collection member coupled to the closure and extending into the container when the closure is secured thereto. In one embodiment, the closure includes a base and a cap that are hingedly coupled together. The cap is selectively moveable between a closed position that seals an aperture in the base, and an open position wherein the aperture is exposed to permit expelling contents of the container through the aperture. In another embodiment, the closure comprises a base having a spout and an aperture, and a cap coupled to the base for axial movement along the spout between open and closed positions. The system may further include a deodorant to mask or absorb odors.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for mounting one or more glazing panes or insulating glass units into a window sash frame member having spaced side walls joined by an inner facing frame surface with a spacing structure disposed on the frame surface. Glazing panes are placed against strips of adhesive sealant within the window sash frame. Folding glazing beads hingedly attached to the side or inner walls of the frame member are folded against the glazing panes to secure them to the window sash frame member and/or to cover the glazing pane edges.

Abstract: A pivoting and sliding closure assembly is provided which rides in a guide channel of a frame upon a pivot shoe assembly which at one end securely pivots a closure member upon one pivot shoe when the closure is pivoted away from the channel, and which latches the closure member in a slidable position when the closure member is pivoted to its latched position. The pivot shoes are connected together by a multiple segment shaft in the assembly and unique rack and pinion structure is incorporated in the assembly.

Abstract: An improved vertically slidable pivotal window unit having a spring loaded jamb latch assembly which provides a mechanically positive latching and release mechanism in going from the vertically displaceable to horizontally pivotal sash opening and closing modes.

Abstract: A hidden hinge construction for use in hingedly fastening one member to another member includes first and second parts which are adapted to be countersunk into the members. Each of the parts has appended thereto a plate which is respectively adapted to be fastened to the member. One of the hinge parts includes a projecting pin, and to the other hinge part includes an axial opening for rotatively receiving the pin.

Abstract: A window construction having slidable and swinging hinged sashes is disclosed. The pivot arrangement for each sash is constructed for swinging of the sash about a vertical axis. Each sash is usually confined within the frame of the window by a pressure urged sash balance. The sash balance is constructed so that the sash may be moved against the sash balance to position it for swinging away from the frame. A removable T-shaped locking element is received in a channel provided in the jamb adjacent the pivot arrangement of the sashes. One member of the pivot arrangement is disposed within the jamb and has a vertical pivot pin formed thereon. The other member of the pivot arrangement receives one edge of the window pane and has a receptical complementary in shape to the pivot pin. The inner member of the pivot arrangement has a tab portion which cooperates with the locking element to keep the sash secured to the frame. Removing the locking element permits removal of the entire sash from the frame.
