  • Patent number: 5557825
Abstract: A door retainer mechanism on a padmounted switchgear cabinet includes a pair of elongated links coupled between an access door and housing of the cabinet. The links are pivotally connected respectively to the access door and housing and also pivotally connected to one another. The links are pivotable relative to each other between folded and unfolded conditions with respect to one another as the access door is moved between closed and opened positions relative to the cabinet housing. The links are operable automatically to latch with one another in the unfolded condition upon the access door reaching the opened position after being moved by a worker from the closed position relative to the cabinet housing. The links of the door retainer mechanism, once they have reached the unfolded condition and become latched with one another, function to retain the access door in the opened position and prevent the access door from returning to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5531045
Abstract: A window operator and lock structure for controlling a window sash relative to a window frame, including a drive input securable to a frame and engaging both an operator linkage securable to a window sash to effectuate motion of a secured sash relative to a frame, and a lock linkage securable to a lock structure for locking a secured sash to a frame. A link in the lock linkage moves in a generally longitudinal direction when operating the lock structure and includes a substantially transverse slot. A cam is pivotable about a cam axis fixed relative to the frame and includes a member receivable in the link slot to block operation of the lock linkage. The sash when closed against the frame includes a member engaging the cam to pivot the cam in a first direction moving the cam member clear of the link slot. • Patent number: 5152103
Abstract: A window operator and lock structure for controlling a window sash supported by a hinge for pivotal motion relative to a window frame, including a base mounted to the frame and supporting a drivable sun gear, and a planet gear engaging the sun gear and supported on the base for pivoting about the sun gear axis. One linkage is secured to the planet gear axis and the window sash to control motion of the sash. A locking structure secures the sash to the frame, which structure is operated by a gear arm fixedly secured to the planet gear and a cam link between the gear arm and the locking structure. Selective operation of the locking structure is effectuated by biasing the cam link against a fixed pin which engages a slot in the cam link to secure the cam link against operating the locking structure, and a trip on the sash which engages the cam link when the sash is closed against the frame to disengage the cam link from the pin.

  • Patent number: 4937976
Abstract: A window operator and hinge structure for a casement window which can be simply factory pre-set for positioning of a window in either egress or wash modes, with switching between modes requiring no additional parts or special tools. The structure has a pivoted handle movable between a closed, inactive position flush with a sill cover and rotatable to an inclined, active position. The handle, in its pivoting movement, operates window locking structure and also controls the action of a brake, with release of the brake by raising of the handle to operative position. Motion-transmitting connections between the handle and linkage structure include the brake as well as the clutch, with the clutch effective to limit the torque that can be applied to the linkage. The handle can be moved to closed, inactive position with the window open so that no handle protrudes and this movement of the handle sets the brake so that a wind cannot move the window.

  • Patent number: 3934370
Abstract: A panel in the form of a movable window frame hinged along its upper edge is swung from a closed position to an open position by a mechanism which includes a torque rod and crank-operated self-locking gearing to actuate the torque rod. A vibration damper in the form of a friction pad or brake shoe that engages the torque rod at a distance from the gearing, prevents chattering of the window when it is being swung towards its closed position and also resists any tendency for wind or vibration to oscillate the window.

  • Patent number: 3934925
Abstract: To meet the legal requirements for bus safety, all locking devices on entrance and emergency doors must be removed before the bus is placed in service. For that purpose, the ignition key is made part of a simple locking assembly that is used to lock the emergency door. The driver's obtaining the key to operate the bus engine, insures the unlocking of the emergency door. The unlocking of the entrance door is accomplished by an inside pivoted cam assembly, actuated by a locking handle on the outside of the bus. The unlocking pivoted cam assembly inside the bus, then entirely disengages the door controlling mechanism, which then has normal operating freedom.

  • Patent number: RE34230
Abstract: A casement operator for a window has a deployment linkage connectable between the window frame and the base and operable to cause movement of the window sash. A gear drive drives the deployment linkage, which coacts with a sash lock and a lock linkage having a window-actuated trigger. A plurality of rigid links are in pivotal engagement with the deployment linkage and in driving engagement with the gear drive, and a tie rod is disposed intermediate the rigid links and the sash lock. A trip lever with a trigger extending beyond the window frame is pivotally secured to the base and engageable with the lock linkage for restricting the movement of said lock linkage during a non-locking mode of operation of the operator.
