  • Patent number: 5511443
Abstract: A cable window lifter with a driving unit includes a drive housing having an internal cavity therein. A cable drum is disposed within the internal cavity and has an internal gear provided along an internal portion of the drum. A pinion gear is disposed within the internal portion of the cable drum and includes teeth that engage the internal gear of the cable drum. The pinion gear is driven manually or by a motor. A support core is disposed between a portion of the internal gear of the cable drum and a portion of the pinion gear teeth. The support core prevents the lateral deflection of the pinion gear teeth out of the internal gear of the cable drum during imposition of an overload force onto the pinion gear, thereby assuring improved running quality of the driving unit and reducing the forces occurring in the driving unit.

  • Patent number: 5505022
Abstract: A thin window regulator which can be assembled easily and which requires less installation space inside a door panel is disclosed. Both longitudinal ends of a belt are connected to a pair of sliders and the belt is made into a ring shape. Sliders are movable along a guide rail and are biased closer to each other by springs. Thus, since the ring-shaped belt is wound around a sprocket and the sliding portion, tension is not reduced by a creep phenomenon and the belt does not loosen. One end of the ring shaped belt is formed to be wound around the sliding portion. Thus, the window regulator can be made thinner compared with prior art systems in which both ends of a belt are wound around pulleys and a required installation space inside the door at the upper portion of the guide rail can be made thinner.

  • Patent number: 5469656
Abstract: A safety device for electric glass-winders of the cable type employs a guide rail movably mounted on the door panel of a vehicle so as to be capable of being driven downwardly in vertical translation by the cable upon encountering a force opposing travel of the glass which exceeds a predetermined value. The rail is maintained in its normal position by, for example, a magnet which attracts a tab of ferromagnetic material fixed to the rail. A switch forming part of the electrical supply circuit for the winder motor cooperates with the rail and reverses the direction of rotation of the motor when the rail is displaced from its normal position to a lower position. The electromechanical safety device is inexpensive and simple to manufacture.

Abstract: The invention concerns an electric-motor drive system for a bowden-cable window lifter. The system includes a braking spring in the form of a helical spring in the manner known from manual bowden cable window lifters. This is made possible by the inclusion on the worm wheel of an arcuate slot crossed by a tab affixed to the cable reel and extending to the other side of the worm wheel into the clearance of a ring affixed to the worm wheel. The ring and the tab are enclosed by the helical spring of which the bent-off ends each enter the gap between the tab and ring. Abstract: A drive apparatus includes a commutator motor having a hollow rotation shaft with an internally threaded section provided therein and a flexible power transmission cable inserted through the hollow rotation shaft such that a spiral thread-like rib of the cable engages with the internally threaded section of the hollow rotation shaft, whereby a propulsive force is transmitted to the cable to allow a window glass to be moved in a reciprocating motion. A guide roller with an intermediate section of the cable wrapped therearound is rotatably supported on a guide base to allow the passage of the cable. A curved guide section is provided relative to the guide roller to define a curved cable passage channel in a manner to cover a wrapped cable portion. The guide roller is rotated by the commutator motor through the cable, while the intermediate portion of the cable is pressed onto the guide roller.

  • Patent number: 5022184
Abstract: A manual window regulator in which a pinion rotatably carried by a window glass and driven by a manual handle is held in engagement with a rack which is fixed to extend in the direction of movement of the window glass, so that a manual rotation of the handle causes the pinion to roll along the rack in meshing engagement therewith so as to drive the window glass thereby opening and closing a window. The transmission of rotation from the handle to the pinion is effected through a tape stretched between a drive gear rotationally driven by the handle and driven gear coaxially fixed to the pinion. The rack and the pinion are usable also as the parts of a power window regulator. The manual window regulator therefore can be easily converted into a power window regulator by using an electric motor for driving the pinion in place of the unit including the handle, the drive gear and the tape.

  • Patent number: 4984386
Abstract: The invention concerns a tensioning device for the cable of a cable window lifter which is mounted in a drive bracket pulled up and down along a guide rail by means of a cable wound around an actuation drum. One cable end is solidly joined to the drive bracket whereas the other cable end is connected by a directional lock to the drive bracket. This directional lock compensates any cable elongation taking place within the cable actuation system by means of spring action. The tensioning device of the invention is characterized by providing further compensating means. This further compensation is needed in the event of excessive stresses exerted on the cable actuation system in the closed window position which results in a spurious cable elongation caused thereby. It also eliminates this compensation when this excess stress is no longer present.
