    Abstract: A window comprises a base and a frame extends from a side of the base. The frame defines a space communicated with at least one slot in the slot of the base. At least one sheet is mounted in the base and movable between the base and the frame via a respective slot. The window is mounted to an inner side of a window opening of a building with the space of the frame aligning with the window opening of the building. Plural windows can be respectively mounted to plural window openings in a building and controlled by a central control such that all of the sheets of the windows can be synchronously moved into the frames or the bases of for expeditious exhaustion of smoke or obstruction of fire.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle window regulator includes a helically wound wire coil on a flexible lubricating core to form a flexible cable, and the cable is confined within an elongated guide tube having a longitudinally extending slot. The coil is moved longitudinally within the tube by a helical drive gear, and a lower end portion of the cable carries a window lifting bracket or T-bracket having laterally projecting wings. A clamp unit is mounted on each wing and includes a U-shaped clamp body defining a recess which receives a pressure block and a U-shaped gasket for receiving an edge portion of a glass window panel. Set screws thread through the clamp bodies and extend through holes in the wings for engaging the pressure blocks to clamp the edge portion of the window panel to the clamp bodies. Each clamp body comprises a short section of an aluminum extrusion and defines slots or grooves receiving edge portions of the gasket and the T-bracket wing.

The cable routers are attached to fore and aft door frames of the door frame assembly and route the cable between the drive mechanism and the bracket assembly.

The gate panel may be telescoping to accommodate openings of various widths and the C-clamp hinge and latch may be adjustable to accommodate walls or other vertical surfaces having different depths or thicknesses. A compression-activated tong-shaped latch device is engaged and disengaged from the latch member by applying pressure and sliding the telescoping gate to the side, which permits the gate panel to swing freely in either direction.

    Abstract: A vertically movable cantilevering type gate is disclosed. All that is required is an elongated cylinder mounted vertically and a piston rod slidably mounted therein. The piston rod is mounted for vertical movement in the cylinder and suitable laterally spaced vertically movable guides are provided to maintain the gate in alignment with the gate opening. Preferably a channel shaped cap bar is positoned to overlie a trough into which interconnected link members are adapted to fold. The link members support laterally extending mesh type closure members which close the gate opening when the gate is elevated. The gate is controlled by a water pressure operated system. The valves controlling the flow of pressurized water to actuate the gate are controlled electrically. In one desirable construction when no electric power is applied, the valves direct water under pressure to urge the piston rod upwardly in the cylinder to maintain the gate in the obstructing or closed position.

The imperforate surface provides a rigidifying support for the rather fragile insulation material.

A door that moves on rollers laterally into and from a door opening to a stored position in a hollow portion of an adjacent wall. The lower portion of the door is located adjacent a threshold having a movable, flexible seal that moves between a flat position covering a roller track portion of the threshold to a substantially upright position against the bottom of the door when the door is located in a closed position. The seal is constructed of a resilient material and bends to be urged against the lower portion of the door in such a fashion as to seal out noise, debris, light and the like. When the door is open the seal returns to a flat, horizontal position to prevent an accumulation of debris or dirt in the door track which would interfere with movement of the door.

    Abstract: An extensible partition utilizes a hollow rectangular elongated partition for erection in a generally vertical plane having spring loaded devices extending upwardly and downwardly from the uppermost and lowermost marginal edges thereof, a slot, extending vertically along a vertical marginal edge of the apparatus, communicates to the hollowed out cavity portion of the panel, so as to provide access throughout the length of the cavity, extending substantially for the entire length of the panel. A plurality of arms are utilized having one end of each pivotably secured to individual helically wound spring members. In one embodiment, the other end of the helical springs are pivotably secured to an accordion-like pleated member which, when not in use, is stored within the cavity. When the accordion, pleated-like member is withdrawn the arms are positioned horizontally such that the springs are likewise positioned horizontally when they are tensioned, keeping tensioning forces on the pleated-like flexible member.
