    Abstract: An airflow reduction system includes an insulating panel assembly for sealing a window within a jamb. The insulating panel assembly has a frame configured to fit within the jamb and a glazing panel in the frame coated with a low-emissivity or solar control coating or film. The frame may include one or more cavities extending along its length. The assembly may also include a blind stop and/or a trim stop installed on either side of the frame within the jamb. A compressible seal around the external perimeter of the frame bears against the jamb to form a first barrier impeding the flow of air, and the blind stop or the trim stop forms a second barrier impeding the flow of air. Also disclosed is a mounting assembly including an insulating panel assembly and at least one bracket and a method of installing the same.

    Abstract: A window jamb component assembly mountable in the jambs of a double hung window for cooperative engagement with the sash assemblies thereof. The component assembly includes a longitudinally elongated jamb liner having upper and lower segments comprising a pair of channel guides spaced apart by a profiled web. The profiled web defines sequentially aligned recesses, namely an inner weather stripping recess, a jamb filler recess and an outer weather stripping recess. A jamb filler, held by the jamb filler recess, provides a uniformly clad surface for the jambs to match the appearance of the trim of the double hung window. Frame weather stripping for sealingly engaging the sash assemblies of the double hung window is deployed and held in the inner and outer weather stripping recesses. Such assembly provides a visually pleasing finish for the window jambs, while providing improved cooperation between the window jamb and the sash assemblies.

    Abstract: An apparatus for selectively securing a window sash to a window frame, including a longitudinally extending jamb liner secured to the frame adjacent one side of the sash, and a movable cam between the frame and the liner for selectively adjusting the spacing therebetween. Frictional locking surfaces are provided between the liner and the sash whereby the cam in a locking configuration biases the liner away from the frame and thereby against the sash to frictionally lock the sash against movement relative to the liner. The liner defines a portion of the track guiding the sash for substantially planar movement and the cam may also be selectively moved to a releasing configuration allowing the liner to sufficiently approach the frame to allow the sash to be cleared from the liner.

Each flange element 25 has a sealing 27 angled obliquely of the adjacent sash run and disposed for resiliently engaging and sealing between a sash and an adjacent trim stop.

    Abstract: Vertical and horizontal sliding sash windows have two parallel but spaced leaves which slide in respective portions of the window opening. The portions are separated by a parting bead which extends around the window opening. Draught between the parting bead and the window leaves is reduced by the provision of seals between the parting bead and the window surfaces. These are formed by pile weatherstrips carried either on a replacement parting bead formed in one or two pieces. The remainder of the window is also sealed for the reduction of draughts.

    Abstract: An extender for a combined double hung, double sash guide and weather strip unit is disclosed. The extender is slidably received in the open upper end of the parting bead of the weather strip unit and carries at its upper end prongs. When the extender is driven upwardly, as by raising the window sashes, the extender closes the air gap between the upper edge of the weather strip unit and the head jamb and at the same time the prongs are driven into the head jamb so that the extender also serves to attach the weather strip unit into the window frame thus eliminating the need for top staples or nails.
